Overview

I was born a fighter. Abandoned by my parents, I spent my life forging my own path—one guided by my fists and paved with pain.

Untouchable in the ring, I destroyed everyone who faced me, but that’s where my victories ended. Outside the ropes, I repeatedly failed the few people who loved me. Including my best friend, Liv James—the one person I’d die to protect.

Even though I didn’t deserve her, Liv never stopped believing in me. Never gave up. Never let go. After all, she understood what I’d lost, because she’d lost it too.

Liv was everything to me, but she was never truly mine.

That was going to change.

I lost my first love, but I refused to lose my soulmate.

Now, I’m on the ropes during the toughest battles of my life.

Fighting to be the man she deserves.

Fighting the solitude of our pasts.

Fighting for her.

So totally worth the read. Loved it! The book was sad, and happy, and packed full of all emotions possible! Will be reading all 3 Page brother books.... numerous times over.

I've loved this whole series. The Page brothers truly are something special, and as Q states, they know how to love. I really like how the story of Liv and Q is complete. We get all the way back to the first meeting as kids, the HEA and all the ups and down in between. Liv and Q are cute partners in crime as kids. Both had tragic beginnings with their parents and home life, which left them a little damaged. A friendship between them just clicks. Teenage heightened emotions including hurts and insecurities cause disruptions, but despite distance and time, their connection is permanent. As adults they have to overcome more loss and indecision on the way to seeing if their relationship can become something more. Grown up Q is so sweet and sexy. I adore him. I felt every emotion these two endured. It's like my heart wants to take off soaring out of my chest to see these three brothers stories all fall into place, and getting updates on all the others in this book is like the icing on the cake. Fighting Solitude is a perfectly great standalone, but if you read the series, you get the full emotional impact. The ending section from everyone is a real my cup runneth over deal for me.

5 star This story has a ton of laughs, pain, grief, and heartbreak. I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed and kept you interested. If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books first. Fighting Silence (On the Ropes, #1) Fighting Shadows (On the Ropes #2) This is Liv and Quarry’s story. Quarry and Liv have been best friends since they were around 14 until something happens to Quarry’s brother. Quarry now thinks he can never protect anyone. He drives Liv away. After not speaking for three years they become friends again. When a mutual friend dies they are devastated. A few years later they are still best friends but feelings are changing. But are they changing for the both of them? Will the feelings if exposed be returned? Or will guilt of moving on hold one of them back? Will they get the chance to be together? They both have been in love for years but is it the right time? When Liv is pulled even more into the spotlight will a past fighter try and ruin everything Liv and Quarry have always wanted? Or will there be help from an unlikely source? Can these two finally get there shot or is this the end? I loved these characters and also the side characters. There are some tear filled moments and some anger filled moments in this story. But all in all I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

FIGHTING SOLITUDE is the third installment in Aly Martinez’s ON THE ROPES romance series focusing on the Page brothers. This is boxer Quarry Page, and Liv James’s story line- a best friends to lovers trope that covers a life time of regrets and sins. FIGHTING SOLITUDE can be read as a stand alone but for backstory and cohesion I recommend reading the series in order. Told from alternating first person points of view (Quarry and Liv) FIGHTING SOLITUDE follows the friendship between Quarry and Liv. At the tender ages of nine and ten Quarry and Liv became best friends and for years were inseparable until the day Quarry (in anger and fear) destroyed Liv’s trust. Three years would pass before Liv would be able to face the now eighteen year old man he had become but everything and everyone had changed-Quarry moved on but never forgot about the young girl wrapped tightly around his heart. Secrets are revealed; the past never forgotten; the future a minefield of possibilities. Liv must struggle with the knowledge that she can never compete with a memory-she may always be second best. FIGHTING SOLITUDE begins with an unexpected death that changes Quarry and Liv’s lives then flashes back to the beginning where our story line couple are first introduced. Fifteen years of memories and events that blend together with the first two installments –FIGHTING SILENCE and FIGHTING SHADOWS-wherein the author reminds the reader about the events of the past. The Page brothers have suffered both physical, emotional and mental trauma, and Quarry must endure the family legacy both inside and outside of the ring. A chance at the world boxing championship finds our leading couple facing more than an opponent in the arena, but a threat against their personal lives, as well. All of the previous story line couples play secondary and supporting roles, as well as Liv’s father and step-mother. The requisite evil comes from two different directions. FIGHTING SOLITUDE is an emotional and heartbreaking story line where Quarry must battle the demons from his past; a family pedigree of shame, guilt and loss; and fight for the woman he has loved most of his life. The premise is provocative and imaginative; the characters are passionate and intense; the romance is a slow build to a happily ever after.

“You watch my back, and I watch yours” “Love is different. It’s not one-size-fits-all. And it’s definitely not universal or transferable.” I don’t know about you guys, but after finishing Fighting Shadows, I was dying to get my hands on Quarry’s story. You see, at the end of Fighting Shadows, we were given just a little taste of what was to come. I knew that Quarry’s story was going to be heartbreaking. I was not prepared for just how much Quarry’s story was going to affect me. Quarry and Liv’s story is beautifully written and heartbreaking. It pulls you in from the very first page and doesn’t let go. It will completely consume you and pull at your heart. There were so many beautiful, heartbreaking moments. I had tissues on stand-by, just in case I needed them. Fighting Solitude is a story of friendship, first love and loss. This story will make you laugh. It will make you cry. It will break you heart and then slowly put it back together. In the end, this is a story about real love. The love that comes from friendship and only grows stronger with time. It is a story of a love that will last a lifetime. Fighting Solitude is a fabulous addition to the On The Ropes Series. With each book, I have fallen deeper and connected even stronger to each character. And the characters in this story were no exception. They are easy to love and connect with. You want to know more about them and see how their story will play out. And I have to say one of the things that I love about this series, is the way the author finds a way to not only interconnect the previous stories in this series, but over time, she has also managed to connect this series to her Wrecked and Ruined series. I love seeing how all the stories come together and how their lives all connect. It’s amazing because I never have to say goodbye to my favorite characters. They are always there in one form or another. Fighting Solitude is an absolutely beautiful and heartwarming story. This story is well-written and almost impossible to put down. The story-line is intriguing and completely captivating. It’s filled with lots of love, angst, heartbreak, hope, fear and loss. It is a beautiful friends to lovers romance that should not be missed. *I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*

"Every. Single. Day." I hate to see this series end, but what a way to finish. This series just pulls at your heart strings. Each book better than the last. Quarry finally got his HEA, and those Page boys just stole my heart. Aly Martinez has such a unique way of telling a story, that keeps you invested and reading non-stop! If you haven't read all three books in this series, you are missing out on something special!

I loved Every. Single. Page. of this book!! I will admit reading this book was bittersweet. My love for the Page boys runs deep and I was sad knowing this book would conclude my reading journey with them. Quarry did not disappoint, he was amazing in every way! Liv was sweet, kind and relatable. This book had all the elements I love for a good romance-angst, sexual tension, heartbreak, amazing chemistry and lovable characters. A definite must read book!!

Fantastic! Amazing! Quarry's story grabbed at my heart strings and wouldn't let go. I absolutely loved the first two books in the series, but I knew Fighting Solitude was going to be different because I fell in love with the little fiery kid and his colorful vocabulary in Fighting Silence and to read about the man Quarry became Fighting Solitude it was so emotional for me. I laughed at the playful banter between the Page family & friends and cried over the struggles that Quarry faced. I Loved reading about Liv and Quarry, childhood prankster, best friends whose frienship grew into True Love, but that didn't come easy for these two kindred spirits. I LOVED IT!!!! You need to read this series! It honestly touched my soul!!

I’m speechless. This book was so amazingly fantastic that I have no idea how to do it justice with a review! I can definitely give you 2 words though…book. hangover!! I have loved every book in the On the Ropes series but this one is definitely my favorite! I’ll admit I was a little nervous about reading this one after the ending of Fighting Shadows because I really wasn’t ready to have my heart shredded all over again. But, there’s really no reason to worry…while it has its sad moments, it’s really about healing and moving forward with those you love surrounding you. It’s full of emotion but that’s not even what makes it so great. You can tell it was written with heart…that makes it awesome. Liv and Quarry have been best friends since around the age of 10 so their story is, in reality, a long one but I love the way it's told…it’s just a steady recap of events and their lives that covers around the 1st 6 or so chapters of the book. There is no back and forth of “now” and “then” from 1 chapter to the next…nothing to confuse you. That catches us up to where Shadows left us hanging and we pick up with Quarry and Liv’s lives from that point on. I’m sad this series is over but the story was wrapped up perfectly…I’m still crying a bit but I promise they’re happy tears.

It's becoming harder and harder to describe what my heart feels each and every time I finish a book by Aly Martinez. The woman simply renders me speechless. Fighting Solitude is the one story from the On the Ropes series that I knew would rip me to shreds. And it has. But I can safely say it was worth every single minute. Quarry. The youngest of the fighting Page brothers and the one with quite possibly the biggest heart. And if you have read the first two in this series, you know that is saying quite a bit. Told in alternating POV's we get both Quarry and Liv's side of the story. From the first moments of their interesting first introduction to each other to an unwelcome separation to the shared grief for a loss so profound it threatened to shape them forever. But at the core is the love. The love Quarry has for his best friend, the woman who quite possibly had his heart from the start. And the love Liv has for her own best friend in Quarry, stepping aside, holding back feelings when it just wasn't their time. Oh my. These two will have you laughing one minute, sighing the next and crying for missed opportunities and what life always seemed to throw at them. The resilience that these two possess is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Not to mention the feisty spirit deep inside each of them, for not only each other but those they care for. It's a sight to behold. I adored how just a single touch, a single word, whether spoken or signed could make it all better between these two. There is a chemistry that was present even when they were kids and through all their challenges, nothing could ever change that. The author continues to write characters that have presence, style and grace, even when dressed in boxing gloves and a bloodied shirt. I am simply enamored with this cast of characters. And they are all there, fully present throughout this book, thank goodness. A completely selfless and loving group, the Till brothers are in a class by themselves. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Quarry promised his story. One that would ultimately both break and warm my heart and soul. And it's done just that. I am forever grateful to have discovered this author's words. These are books unlike any others out there. I simply cannot get enough. A standalone that should be read in my opinion, once you devour Fighting Silence and Fighting Shadows. And believe me you will. You will fall in love and want to claim one of the brothers for yourself. It's that simple. A huge 5+++ stars and a job just so well done.
