Overview

Every fighter is drawn to the violence, the release that a perfect hit can bring.

But very few are drawn to the pain.

Rex Carter lives behind a wall of indifference. The demons from his childhood act as an anesthetic, keeping him distant from emotional connections. Only the ache from a knock to the jaw, the sting of a tattoo needle, or the heat from a piercing can jolt him back from the numbness. The fiery pain is all he can feel, and nothing compares to the burn.

Or so he thought.

Working in a Las Vegas bar isn't Georgia McIntyre's dream. But she hopes it'll be an end to the nightmare.

She's watched him, followed him and kept tabs, all in preparation for this moment: to make amends and share the secret she’s been carrying since she was a kid. But she didn't count on the feelings that seeing him again would stir up, the vacant look in his stormy-blue eyes, and his perfect body now mutilated by ink and metal.

And she knows why. She's lived his pain every single day, since the day he left.

Changed by time, Rex doesn't remember the girl from his past. If only she could do the same.

Will she get the absolution she's spent her life seeking?

Or will he continue Fighting to Forget?

OK....Fighting To Forget...WRECKED ME! Seriously! This book is the most intense book I have EVER READ! I sobbed so hard I could hardly breathe! I know that sounds over dramatic...but it is SO TRUE! I had to stop reading until I could unbend my mind enough to continue! As with the other books in this series, the multiple layers of this story will absolutely take your breath away! Rex's history is so tortured and the mind is an amazing thing to have protected him like it did! The sacrifice that Gia makes through out this book is so loving that your heart swoons. Then, you begin to understand how GREAT her sacrifice really was! Nothing she did was ever about herself. It was all for Rex. The tortured pain that you will feel in this book will destroy all other books for you! I was so angry for and AT Rex (and certainly at JB) that I couldn't stand it! All I kept thinking was...no...this can NOT happen like this! When you get to that point...JUST KEEP READING!!!!!

I liked most of it, but was disappointed in the heroine's actions near the end. Kinda soured the story for me... that being said, the story was good, characters are believable, sex scenes are hot, HEA.

OMG.. I can't believe it.. this book was amazing! I have been waiting and waiting for this book to come out and let me tell you, you will not be disappointment at all. Rex has a childhood that he doesn't remember because he didn't have a great childhood. And Georgia knows who Rex's is but she doesn't want to scare him away. She was the child that would always sing to Rex at night as her parents would lock Rex in the basement. Can Rex remember who she is and love her the way she loves Rex. You really don't want to miss this book and the series.

Where to begin? I love the Fighting series. But this book... just whoa--LOVE it. Intense love. Deep characters. A love that isn't easy but that is earned. It's real. Gritty. And all of that makes it simply powerful. Besides that, REX IS HOT. All those tattoos. That lip ring. Yeah, it works in a major way. God, I love a complicated book boyfriend. Rex is my new favorite!!!

I will never understand why some women write a book and use the toddler version of "tummy" rather than just saying butterflies in my stomach. I'm a grown woman and would never use tummy when speaking about my stomach!

Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆ She is his angel that comes to him when he cannot bear the pain and agony inflected. He is the single purpose for everything she does, her reason for living! In this hauntingly beautiful love story of abuse, love and redemption we take a journey through hell and heaven. J. B. Salsbury has woven a web of suspense, drama and true love in Fighting to Forget, book three in her Fighting series. The storyline alone will keep you trapped within the pages of this remarkable book, but the characters and their realistic struggle will keep you reading! Living in a world that seems at times unfocused, haunted by nightmares that want let him sleep, Rex Carter finds himself using violence as an outlet for his frustrations. To all appearances he is a successful MMA fighter, musician and great guy. So what if he is controlled by his hair-triggered temper and reacts without much provocation. He has it under control, right. He just wishes he could remember his past and understand his dreams! When she walks into his life, he wonders if she could be his cure. Her soul purpose is vengeance against those that hurt him. She needs to redeem herself from the guilt of not saving him. It is time she faced her past and found a way to be released from it. He needs to be told the truth about what happened when they were children, but he seems so well adjusted, happy. Maybe he doesn’t need old wounds to be reopened. He obviously does not remember her, so she will just watch and wait for the perfect moment to introduce herself to him. But everything changes when she gets up close and personal with Rex, maybe the past can stay dead. Maybe they can live in the future and heal each other. This book blew me away with all the twists and turns in the plot. Just when you think you have it figured out another element is added to the story. Each character adds an extra depth and layer to the drama taking place. Love eventually triumphs over evil and that saying ‘true love conquers all’ is proven in this remarkable book. Another great addition to my library and I look forward to reading more by this outstanding author.

Not your usual romance but a good story. This was not a "sweet" romance, and not your typical love story. It was gritty, and ugly (but not in a bad way). I enjoyed the book but it wasn't a fav.

Heroines actions when hero finds out just killed this book for me. Then they end up back together and moved on like it was no big deal....just absolutely ruined this book for me. She had strength, was intelligent and pretty self-confident, yet she completely falls apart when he has what normal people would consider an acceptable reaction. ..and she takes off? Seriously?! She didn't stop and think huh maybe I need to give him a long minute to calm down because this was seriously traumatic for all parties involved. But hey no biggie, alls forgiven. Completely lost me as a major fan. (Yes, I know it's fictional but I get emotionally involved in what I read!)

Unbelievably haunting. The journy of heart ache and love Rex and Gia take you on will leave you raw but coming back for more. I bought this book on a whim and I am so glad that I did.

I loved this book completely. The storyline was at times very dark but eventually lightens. The chemistry between Rex and Gia is off the charts hot! I highly recommend this book to everyone. At times I cried so hard my heart ached. It kept me guessing until the end. It's 305 pages of heartbreak and an amazingly strong unforgetable love.
