Overview

Can't stop thinking about Fleetwood Mac? This lavish, in-depth volume tells all about the legendary group: its music, tours, awards, turbulent personal relationships, and more.

After enjoying initial success as a British blues band, Fleetwood Mac became a wildly popular “soft rock” ensemble in the 1970s and '80s, dominating the mainstream music market around the world. Their albums, including the multimillion selling Rumours, are considered classics, while singles such as “Rhiannon,” “Dreams,” “Don't Stop,” and “Little Lies” have stood the test of time to become landmark songs of an era.

Fleetwood Mac offers a unique view of a band whose name has become synonymous with the both the triumph and heartache of rock and roll stardom.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
This illustrated history arrives amid reports that Fleetwood Mac will tour again in 2012. That's good news for fans, who can catch up on 45 years of Mac with this oversized career-spanning book. With rare photographs, album-by-album details, and a concise overview of the band that has survived 15 lineups, music journalist Evans (Woodstock: Three Days That Shook the World) goes back to the beginning, when Fleetwood Mac was a burgeoning British blues band featuring bassist John McVie, guitarist Peter Green, and drummer Mick Fleetwood. The group later added Christine Perfect (who married McVie), and after several changes in members and musical styles, the core trio of Fleetwood and the McVies recruited guitarist/vocalist Lindsey Buckingham and vocalist Stevie Nicks. Success didn't come easy, and sordid affairs, dangerous amounts of drugs, and extravagant lifestyles threatened to destroy the volatile band. Though Evans navigates the haze of intra-band relationships, solo careers, hiatuses, and reunions, he gives short shrift to 1997's momentous reunion, making his account less than definitive. That said, Evans's insights about albums both renowned and forgotten will renew interest in the band's back-catalog and the vintage photographs will fan the flames of nostalgia. (Oct.)

Rapidly skipping details. There are better "mac" books out there. Save your money.

Cannot change the font on this one. The print is way too small to read on an e-reader.

For some reason, this book kept freezing and the only way to advance was to skip pages, so I would not recommend for the nook. Second, as an FM fanatic, I noticed many errors. Don't know if they were typos or bad research on the part of the author. If you are a die hard fan, I would not purchase. Better for the casual fan.

I was unable to load this on my Nook HD+. I did go to the B&N store and an employee helped me as much as he could but was unable to get it to load, either. I requested a refund via a 1-800 customer service number and was impressed that it only took a day to get it. It is the first book that I could not load.
