The author lacks basic grammar skills and the story line jumped around and was inconsistent. Just a poorly written novel.

Can I give this more than 5 stars??????? I am beyond elated, ecstatic, overjoyed, dancing all around doing my happy dance!!! Yes I was up, arms flopping side to side doing a jitter dance who pile jumping up and down!!! A definite book that is going to be added to my all time top 10 favorites!!!! There is no doubt I will be singing its praises and shouting about this book from the rooftops!!!! So the story: When Ellery moved to New York with her boyfriend, she thought they’d live happily ever after in their small New York apartment. She never thought he’d pack his bags and leave because he “needed space.” With her newfound single status and fear of being alone, Ellery buries herself in her artwork and paintings until one night she helps a mysterious intoxicated stranger get home safely. Little did she know the mysterious stranger is none other than CEO and millionaire Connor Black. After finding Ellery in his kitchen the next morning and assuming she broke his #1 rule about sleepovers, he becomes intrigued, not only by her stubbornness and defiance, but by her kindness. Ellery knows they can never be together because she is harboring a deep secret that could destroy Connor emotionally forever. Join Connor and Ellery as they embark on a journey of courage, love and strength. Will it be enough to save them? I absolutely love Elle. She is a strong independent ( even if she didn't realize it) woman who has a heart of gold and has seriously been dealt a bad hand in life. She endures more loss and heartache than anyone should at her age but she holds her head high and knows that life is what you make of it and she is gonna live hers just right. I laughed with her, I rooted her on, I envied her determination, loved her stubbornness and I cried not only with her but for her. I am not the most emotional person I like to keep feelings to myself I guess you could say and never have I read a book that made tears fall from my face like this one. At times I had to stop because I could not see the words. I was like a emotional wrecking ball!! My husband looks over at me, shakes his head then asks if I am hormonal and I cry harder, swipe the tears and say no it is this crazy book, it's crazy, I am happy, dancing and now I am crying. He laughs at me, pats me on the back and goes about his business. He probably things I am going crazy but I'm not its just this book. But I am hypnotized by it, I cannot stop, I don't want to stop!!!! Kyle I think he was just scum that sticks to the bottom of my shoe!!!! What would possess anyone to leave for the reason he did? Uggggh.....but I am glad he did or Elle would of never realized that she may have loved him but she was never in love with him and she would of NEVER met Mr. Connor Black!!!! Oh that man makes me smile a cheesy grin. He is panty melting, panty dropping sex on a stick and I just want to lick him:) Mr. Black was so use to getting everything he wanted and for everyone to do as he said but he was not prepared for The stubborn and hard headed Elle lane. She would bow to no one and especially not him. I loved the banter between the two. I laughed out loud so many moments, I was giving her a high five, and loving watching him soften and just let go. The man was extraordinarily swoon worthy!!! I don't think my heart has ever beat so fast and then halt at the same time before. These two had me crazy. Peyton was a awesome friend and I loved how she loved Elle enough to not sugar coat things for her and stuck by her always! I could go on and on and on about this book so my friend is gonna have a long phone conversation coming her way:) I will ramble to her instead of this review. I will just say that this book will have you all kinds of crazy!! I was laughing, dancing, squealing with excitement, crying and begging. This book is pure awesomeness. The author has made a mark for herself for sure. Kobe over Christian Grey Connor Black is in the house!! Yummy!!!!!!! Don't wait....but it, read it, you are gonna love it!!!! ~ happy reading~

I don't normally leave reviews, but felt I had to for this. Honestly, as someone who reads a lot (and for the sake of disclosure, I was an English major), I almost couldn't finish this book. The characters were flat and unbelievable. The hero was a two-dimensional version of Christian Grey, with virtually no development. The heroine was little better. The author attempts to develop the story, for the most part, through speech. Unfortunately, this makes a majority of the characters' conversations unbelievable. The basic premise of the plot is good, but under-developed. The author expects you to make too many intuitive leaps for the story to be truly believable. Like I said, the plot is good, but this feels more like a draft than a novel of publishable quality. I was disappointed based on the rave reviews I had seem, and had to give an honest review.

This is a charming little fantasy clearly written for 14 year old girls. Minics 50 Shades of Gray but very poorly written. This book was apparently self-published and the author didn't ask anyone to edit it. There are hundreds of errors in grammar, spelling and punctuation. As an example, I never saw a possesive aposthophe used. The author is apparently working on Book #2; hopefully she'll get an adult friend to edit it before she pays good money to self-publish it.

A definite must read book! This book has moved me beyond words. I've read some of the reviews about it being compared to 50 shades and it's NOTHING LIKE IT! I don't know what book they were reading.  The storyline is very beautiful and touching. I cried and laughed and just plain loved this book. It's emotional and beautiful and doesn't fail. For this being the authors first book ever published, I must give her more than 5 stars because she wrote this well. People are saying there were some errors but I didn't find any as a friend told me she fixed them and republished the book. Kudos to you Ms. Lynn for an outstanding first novel that tugged at my heartstrings. I look forward to reading more from you very soon! I am a huge fan now!

I'm so tired of the rich sex crazed bachelor! This book had potential but the trllion biting of the lips between both characters and the multiple women falling all over him was annoying filler for the authors unimaginative mind or lack of vocabulary. The constant fighting between the characters and herreaction to the women who fawned over him was extrememely immature for her age. I find having a Nook does not allow youa chance to read far enough into the book to get a crasp on the authors style before you actually make the purchase.

This story had SO much potential.  Unfortunately, the editing is horrible, I had to go back and re-read sentences to fix them so they made sense.  At times the writing is decent, at other times it is very childish.  I just wasn't impressed.

This piece is a poor imitation of the Fifty Shades trilogy--same characters, same conflicts, same overused phrases and details. In addition, it is very poorly written--there is no regard for sentence structure, verb tense consistency, punctuation, or spelling. Diction is weak and details are not accurate. E.g. The author seems to believe that it is three hours earlier in New York than in Los Angeles. Not worthy of being included on the Barnes and Noble book list.

The story was ok... Basically the Fifty Shades trilogy condensed into one book, poorly written. The book needs some major editing! 9pm California is not 6pm NY. Also, the author needs to learn the difference between "too" and "to". Every. Single. Time. Very annoying to read.

## I have mixed feelings about this one. SPOILER ALERT. It was written in the first person from the heroine's point of view a la Fifty Shades. And there were other similarities as well: Very rich alpha male used to getting anything and anyone he wants and uses women for sex, becomes intrigued by younger girl who won't be bullied by him. The sweet limo driver who she becomes close to, the huge fights, then making up. The obligatory ex that can't let go.....so many similarities which isn't all bad of course. I just didn't feel any chemistry between the hero and the heroine. But it kept me reading way into the night, so eventhough I didn't love it I gave it 3 stars for keeping me interested.

I usually try to avoid using strong language in reviews, but it has to be said. THIS BOOK IS STUPID! I feel dumber for reading it. I couldn't finish it. I got to the point where she moves to California and had to stop. I can't. I just can't. So she moves to California, throws away her phone, doesn't want anything to do with him, but states if he really loves her and it is meant to be, he will find her. What? NO! He will think you gave him the brush off, which you did, and don't want him to find you because that is what your actions are telling him. Omg! Ellery, stupid name by the way, is horrible. And very very very very stupid. I keep using that word, but it really is the only way to describe everything about this book. She makes selfish and irrational decisions, for no good reason. I have nothing good to say about this child, though her age is around 24 yrs., she behaves like a bipolar fourteen yr. old. All the time. And Conner is so inept at everything, I found it hard to believe he is supposed to be a CEO of a multi million dollar company. Also, he was too weird and rude to be attractive. His age was stated to be 30, but like his female counterpart, his behavior suggested he was in his early teens. He finds out she is terminally ill and he yells at her that she makes him sick and that she is a rotten person. Wow, what a catch. I just found the entire thing unbelievable. And not romantic at all. Not even a little bit. Even the romance was stupid. And I quote " There is no limit to what I wouldn't do for you." So you would NOT do anything for her? And the limit to the stuff you would NOT do for her is endless? Uh, just... no. And this man is supposed to be educated and accomplished. Savvy with the ladies. Not buying that load. Please, readers, I am begging you. From the bottom of my heart, please please please DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GARBAGE! Please! Others, ahem, may have enjoyed thos poorly written, sorry excuse for another Fifty Shades rip off, but anyone with even one brain cell would consider this book the dumbest book to ever be published. Save the one brain cell and re-read Fifty Shades. Oh yeah, and the extreme use of the semi-colon by this "author" is ridiculous. Don't... just don't.

The storyline was just ok, but there was no real development. It seemed like a very immature high school kind of "love." Underdeveloped characters, poor plot/storyline- not nearly descriptive enough at all. I would give this .25 of a star if possible. My 7 year old son writes better  and more entertaining essays than this. Please save your $3.99. Totally a waste of the 6 hours it took me to read it and money.

This was a poorly written knockoff of 50 Shades. Extremely disappointing! There was no development of the characters, and Ellery's attitude seemed very crass. Don't waste your time. Just read the 50 Shades trilogy (again)!

I wanted to like this book, I truly did. However, it reads like a poorly written fan fic. The characters are one dimensional and the writing and editing are clearly not professional. It's written in the past tense for the most part but present tense verbs show up often. It also reqwuires some effort to follow which character is speaking when the words of one character mingle in the same paragraph with the actions of another. And finally, the reader never gets to know or care about either character. Connor and Ellery go through the book doing things but the descriptions of them are so thin that you never know them well enough to be interested in what they're doing. And they don't really do anything interesting. There's no mystery, no plot at all really. You might think at some oints that you may actually be getting a sense for who one of the characters is or know something about them and then they'll do something completely contrary to what you thought their character would do. For instance, I thought Connor was supposed to be a highly intelligent man but then, when he got upset that Ellery went to the beach at night, he spouts a gem like "There's a time and a place for here and this is neither." ????? This is not the place for here???? Oooookay. And in the beginning you feel for Ellery when her boyfriend dumps her after being together for four years and it's explained that she has no family and considered his family hers. It's difficult later on to feel anything for her when she's upset upon getting a call from her cousin that the aunt and uncle who practically raised her have died in a car crash. Connor is obviously supposed to be a powerful, possesive, protective, young business mogul and Ellery is supposed to be a fiercly independent, artist who he finds beautiful and falls in love with. Sorry, i jyust didn't feel any of it.

I felt like I so badly wanted to like this book, then at the same time I was forcing myself to finish it. I try not to be a book snob, but this story could have totally captured me in different writing. I had a hard time connecting with Ellery and believing SO MUCH BAD could happen to one person. I mean, really? I get the darkness effect, but it didn't flow. The characters are likable, and the story is sweet. Though I am glad I finished it, I can't say it's memorable other than the fact that the author/editor didn't in fact edit - or keep a pattern in any of the writing. Out of everything, it was really the dialog that killed me. People don't really talk like that.. I think.. The fact that the story is going to be told again in Connor's point of view worries me. With this author's ability to tell a pretty good story, I hope she focuses more on a different story and properly spacing her words.

The author sounds young and immature...too much wanting to slap somebody for looking at connor....insecure and immature much? Couldnt finish it

Story ok at best. Writing is terrible.

I found this book extremely hard to finish. It was riddled with grammatical errors and unbelievable leaps of character development. I wish I had read the reviews prior to purchasing. The ones not written by her family and friends, or anyone out of their teen years, would've been enough to tell me to keep browsing. This author should take more time to develop, as well as getting a good editor, before publishing her next novel.

This book was not very good. I bought the book because all the supposedly good reviews but in actuality it was a very dull monotone story. Very disappointed.

I hated this book spoiler alert*********** It would have been a better book if she had died atleast that would have given me somthing to write about a tear jerking ending would have pulled this jumble of crap out of the hole. The first half was simple but ok but by the middle of the book the fall i to bed and confessed thieer love for one another i thought for sure i missed some step but no it git worse from there.

Where are the editors? This book is filled with grammatical errors and is poorly written. The plot was not bad but I couldn't get past all of the errors..
Anonymous More than 1 year ago
Underdeveloped, Quite juvenile writing and atrocious grammar errors. Would recommend for high school or middle school except for the sex scenes, which were poorly written.

Characters were not likeable. I thought it was so crazy at the end of the book there is only one chapter from his pov. ( which was only a 2 page chapter.) Would have liked more from his.

Ugh. So poorly written. If I see "lightly smiled" again, I will scream.
