This was a fun book to read. It mixes behind the scenes on-the-job insight with hidden thoughts of the main character, as we watch the story unfold. Erin and Bre have been coworkers for quite a while. Aly is the new graduate employee in the office. Bre seems more concerned about her love life than her career. Erin dreams of having more to life than work, but her dysfunctional family takes up time as well. Aly appears innocent and earnest at the beginning. The dynamics of friendship and competition weave a complicated pattern. Following the ups and downs of their journalism challenge to discover who will be chosen for a plum assignment adds a layer of interest as we enjoy a personal relationship developing between Erin and her co-worker crush. Can the other girls be happy for her? Does their happiness depend on their own goals being fulfilled? An intriguing look at the demands of family and friendship when personal goals are at risk. A novel of back stabbing emotions. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have to say this book captured my interest as soon as Aiden, Erin’s love interest was described. There was a great lesson regarding friendship in this book. I truly wanted to see what was going to happen next. I am definitely looking forward to another book from this author.
Good book about learning a lesson the hard way about trust and relationships
Erin's day is not starting out well. First she hit her elbow on the wall. Her friend, Bre, is going on about joining a new dating site. Chelsie, their supervisor at Strike A Pose, brings a new girl around and introduces her to everyone. The day is looking up when Aiden asks her to lunch. Bre crashes the lunch and monopolizes the conversation about her dating Dr. Aiden asks Erin to go to dinner with just him and her. As if this wasn't great enough, they find out that five of them will have a chance to go to Paris and work for their sister magazine for several weeks. Melissa Baldwin has written a friendships and how jealousy and competition can make everyone out for themselves. The book is a delightful read with a well developed plot and characters. This was an enjoyable book about relationships and moving on.
Erin is a hard worker at a magazine. And she just so happens to have a crush on her coworker Aiden. She's quite happy when they start dating. But her friends- scratch that- coworkers- aren't feeling the same as her about it. the chance for an office award really makes you guess who is upfront and who is catty. its interesting and makes you glad its someone else's drama and not your own.
The characters in this story are so real that the reader feels like they are known friends. You feel the sympathy when relationship troubles develop. Great story of romance and intrigue
