When a massive group of angels known as nephilim--half human, half angel--had been found by the Royal Council, they were taken to Halo City. Instead of cleansing the Earth with a flood, which had been done before, the Royal Council created a place just for this group of angels. While they were being taken, one of the Twelve, named Aden, rebelled and convinced many alkins to join his cause--to live freely among the humans and take over Crossroads. After the fall of Aden and his followers, Michael was taken to Halo City to heal. Upon meeting the alkins, a particular one by the name of Davin, refused to give up on helping Michael deal with his struggles. Together, they discovered a strange being that would appear at the Crossroads at unexpected times. Souls wandering there is nothing new, but this one aged as time passed. Mystified, they both searched for answers while refraining from telling the Twelve about her. Who is this being that had enraptured Michael's attention? And will Michael finally forgive himself and find the happiness that he yearned to have?

Meet the Author

Author Mary Ting resides in Southern California with her husband and two children. She enjoys oil painting and making jewelry. Writing her first novel, Crossroads Saga, happened by chance. It was a way to grieve the death of her beloved grandmother, and inspired by a dream she once had as a young girl. When she started reading new adult novels, she fell in love with the genre. It was the reason she had to write one-Something Great. Why the pen name, M Clarke? She tours with Magic Johnson Foundation to promote literacy and her children's chapter book-No Bullies Allowed.

    A Must Have!
Halo City Novella helps understand Michael a better.
We get to see how he becomes the leader of the alkins and how he and Davin, Vivian & Caleb become friends.
We also get to see through Michaels point of view when he first saw Claudia and fell for her.
I personally love Davin; his jokes, his playfulness, & mischievous ways. I like how this Novella translates into the first book in the series.
     Well done Mary Ting.

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

This is a novella that I really loved!

Michael is an Alkin/Nephilim (half angel, half human), who had joined Aden when he rebelled against the council.

This novella is the back story to Michael and how he arrives at Halo City. This shows his struggle to fit in with the other Alkins, and how his friendship with them began.  This story also shows Michael's point of view of the beginning of Crossroads, where he first meets Claudia. I loved seeing things from Michael's point of view, as it made me understand and like him more!  He may not have been a nice person to begin with, but as he lets down his guard and becomes more secure in his friendship with Davin and the other Alkins, he becomes a better person.

Mary Ting brings her characters to life, and it has been a pleasure to read her books.  I hope to read more of her stories in the future!

I highly recommend reading this novella (as well as the whole Crossroads Saga) if you love YA, Paranormal Romance or stories with Angels, Demons, Nephilim and Alkins. - Lynn Worton

The Cherry On Top of My Favorite Sundae!

Halo City was the perfect novella to follow the Crossroads Saga Series.
I loved being able to relive aspects of Crossroads through Michael's eyes.
Seeing how he struggled to adjust from being a fallen to discovering he was a descendant of one of the "twelve."

I enjoyed reading how the bond was formed between Michael and Davin.  You just knew they were destined to be close friends.
The best of it of course was when he finally sees Claudia as a grown woman and you could feel it was love at first sight.
It brought back all those warm feelings from reading the  first book, Crossroads on through to Eternity.

"I'm not letting you go.  I've surrendered to you.  I'm completely yours.  From this moment, I belong to you."
It doesn't get any better than that.

Halo City is like the cherry on your favorite ice cream sundae.
Mary Ting, you have given us one of the best series ever and I thank you.
