Children's Literature - Jamie Hain
John Elway was a talented high school athlete, whose athletic prowess in football and baseball garnered him scholarship offers from over fifty colleges. After playing both sports at Stanford, Elway was drafted into the NFL by the Baltimore Colts before being traded to his permanent team, the Denver Broncos. This book follows John Elway from his high school career, through four Super Bowl losses, to the night of his final game, the night he won the Super Bowl for the second year in a row. Colorful action photos, large print, and an easy to read writing style make this book ideal for young football lovers who are starting to read books on their own. While this book is great for younger readers, it does leave out Elway's basic player statistics. Like all books in the Super Bowl Superstars' series, this book includes a glossary of football related terms; a quick reference index of people, players, games, and places that were influential to Elway's career; a key players page; and a list of several sources for young readers looking for more information about John Elway or the Denver Broncos.
