Overview

Decades after being banished from Heaven for saving a life he shouldn’t have, Lash is given a chance to redeem himself. His mission: protect Naomi Duran, a young woman who has lost faith in herself. The assignment proves to be anything but simple when his superiors, the Archangels, withhold key information about Naomi and refuse to restore Lash’s powers. When an unexpected source reveals centuries-old secrets, his trust is shaken to the core, and he begins to doubt those whom he had once considered to be his greatest allies.

Determined to avoid anything that would risk his chances of returning to Heaven, Lash struggles with the greatest obstacle of all—his growing feelings for Naomi. But when her life is threatened by an unknown source, Lash questions the wisdom of the Archangels and his ability to keep her safe.

Soon, Lash will have to choose where to place his faith—in the home he has fought so hard to regain or in the forbidden love he can’t bear to lose.

OMG Lash, what a character and you have to love the very religious Welita!! I can’t say enough or know how to express myself on how much I enjoyed this story. An angel was sent to protect a human girl, I can see it coming from a mile away… he falls for the girl….not good for the angel… and where there’s angels there are always demons or evil around…good vs. evil…done before I know, but not like this!

I've read alot of books about variety of angels~Fallen, Guardian, and Serph but this book by far exceeds expections from beginning to end. I could not stop reading this book because I had to know what happened next. Lash is Alpha Male with broken and rough edges that doesn't follow the rules heavenly or earthly. Watching Lash go thru a gambit of emotions throughout the book had me in tears. I applaud the author for their creativity and craftsmanship of the angel lore.

Lash is our main character, and he is one of those swoon-worthy angels that make you want to sin -- a lot. His character development is astounding. So much happens to him throughout this story! By the same token, a great deal is thrown at Naomi. By the time chapter five rolled around I was shifting in my seat, the intensity of the story building at a steady pace. I couldn't read fast enough!

This is a really great book. It has been a long time since I was able to read something that I couldn't put down. Lash is my new book husband. If you are looking for a good Paranormal genre book that has Angels in them with a great history behind it, this will be the book you want to read. Lets not forget to mention how this also has an amazing romance theme going on with some hot sex scenes. ;-) More Lash please...

    4.5 Stars from me!

I am a complete paranormal fan, I think I have said that before and trust me I will say it again. There is just something about the paranormal world that keeps me interested, and it makes me wonder about what could actually be true. Now, even though I do love this genre, there is always that one part of a genre that you don’t like. For me? It’s stories about Angels. I don’t know why, but I have yet to find a book that is written about angel’s that I completely loved, I think it’s just because I have an opinion of what angels are like.

Well I am happy to say that when it came to this book? I did completely love the angel aspect of it. I think that it was done in the right way to where there wasn’t anything that didn’t seem logical happening. Another thing that I enjoyed as well was the fact that the angel’s didn’t seem to take over the story completely. In this book, there is more to the story than just the paranormal aspect, and I completely enjoyed that part of it.

The different characters in the book were extremely well written in my opinion; they were described in a way that you could picture them while you were reading. There was enough given about their history that you could understand why they are the way they are, but there was also enough left out that it kept you wanting to find out more. The drama and suspense that takes place was kind of confusing at first, but after you figure out what’s going on, you can understand the story completely.

Overall, if you like paranormal reads, and enjoy books about angels, then you really should check this book out!

    Overall rating: 3.5 / stars
This was a nice refreshing read. I have read quite a few paranormal angel books, some brilliant and others predictable. This was a sweet romance, very slow at first as they fight the attraction for each other but it's a great paced romance and not drawn out.

    Characters
Lash - I liked that Lash was a balanced character - not overly arrogant or bitter. I enjoyed his whole story of falling in love with Naomi and the battles he had weighing on his heart. Lash is definitely swoon-worthy. (Nothing like a dark-haired hunk being your protector). I really enjoyed his interactions with Naomi from the sweet tender points to the sarcastic flirting and fun parts.

Naomi - I liked that Naomi was such a good caring person. I couldn't help but like her from the beginning. You felt her pain, and Castillo really helps you connect with her on so many levels. I also enjoyed that she didn't immediately fall all over Lash. She is a strong independent woman who puts her family first.

Welita - She was my favorite character in this story. I loved her like you would your own grandmother. She was sweet and I loved her Spanish essence. From the beginning she crawled into my heart and made herself comfy. I really appreciated her faith and love for the greater good.

    Plot & Writing style 3.5/5
I enjoyed the plot. It was refreshing and not overly predictable. It had a "Fallen" by Lauren Kate feel for me, but that is not a bad thing as I absolutely loved that series. I think this series has a lot of potential and I am eager to see where the next book goes. Castillo knows how to write a story - It had a great pace, and she created some really memorable characters. The only reason I haven't rated it a 4 star is that it just needed a little more intensity for me.

    Cover 3/5
I loved the sort of grey, black and white picture element. The cover does suit the story perfectly. It was the cover which initially caught my attention and had me requesting this book.

This was a great read and I am so glad I requested it. Ultimately I will be reading the rest of this trilogy.

I receive this book for do a review.I hear some much of this book.I was so happy when I receive it.

So,Lash it is a fall angel because he dit a mistake 35 years-ago,when he saved a little girl from a plane accident. This thing is gane cost him so much later.

One day,Gabrielle, the archangel came to Lash to do a requirement. She sad,if hi do that he can go back home,to Heaven. All he has do to is protect a young women, Naomi.Easy to do.But it will be more complicated on the way.Because he will find that he had a history with his women, and Lucifer is after her.And who is helping Lucifer involuntary? That little girl who Lash save from that plane accident.
Also he will find out that all the angels on the Heaven hide something from him. Some secret that it will change his life.

I dint`t read so many book about fallen angel.I think thi is a third series that I read about angel. It was fine.I dit expect to surprise me more.I mean, the action it was good, but the chemistry between Lash and Naomi it was a little boring.

What I like it most it was how fast I read it.In one day.It captivate you,but it will me much awesome more chemistry between Lash and Naomi.

Anyway if you like, and read the book of Lauren Kate and Becca Fitzpatrick and love it,you will enjoy and love this too.I mean, look to the cover…It is great.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (Lovers of Paranormal).

"Lash" by L.G. castillo is about "Lash", a seraph, who got kicked out from heaven and is now assigned to protect a girl in order to come back home. The story itself shows that everything you do might have a consequence.(as it is a bad thing, when Lash acts agains his superior's orders)
Actually I didn't realize, that the book was named after one of the main characters until I was halfway through. That caught me by surprise lol. So sometimes it might be better to go for the obvious instead of thinking way too difficult.

Naomi is a really nice person. Even though she grew up in a poor environment, she isn't greedy for money. In fact she is pretty humble and cares a lot for her family. I totally love that part about her. She simply is a likeable person. :)

In contrast to this Lash seems to be a little bit shady. I simply can't get behind his thoughts. At least he cares a lot about Naomi and for now that's enough right :)?

"Lash" is a great prelude for what will be coming next in this series (That's at least the think I'm guessing) and I'm totally looking forward to more of this. There are a lot of characters, who had way too little time to show up. So yeah I want to know more about everyone including their past.
Since this book was actually a nice and fast read and I'm looking forward to more, I'll give 4 stars.

You know how they say the road to hell is paved with good intent

You know how they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions? Apparently Lash never heard the phrase. . .

Lash is a Seraph whose mission is to save a little boy, Javiel, from a plane crash. While on the plane waiting for his 'moment' Lash witnesses a young girl ask her mother if she can go and sit next to the scared looking little boy in the next row. A little boy who is all alone. But the little girl's mother denies her request. But when the turbulence begins and it's clear there is a problem with the plane this sweet little girl selflessly helps the little boy, all of which Lash witnesses. And when it comes time to save the little boy Lash makes a snap decision to save the girl as well, despite the fact that she is not part of his assignment.

It is due to this that Lash is punished. Unlike all his other infractions this one causes him to be stripped of his powers and banished to earth in a mortal body, the only caveat being he can't be killed. Lash is angry, not understanding why a sweet, selfless child like Jane should have been left to die were it not for his unsanctioned intervention. Nor does he know why saving her was such a bad thing. He only knows that Gabrielle was involved and she already couldn't stand Lash. Not even Archangel Raphael was able to get Lash's punishment reduced.

Thirty-five years pass before Lash is offered a chance to redeem himself. His last chance, given his past history of playing outside the rules. He is assigned to watch over Javier's adult daughter, Naomi. When she was younger Naomi's mother had died of cancer, leaving her father to become an alcoholic shell of his former self.

Meanwhile Jane grew up and attended all the best schools, getting into politics at the urging of Luke Prescott, a lifelong family friend. Luke has been in Jane's life since the plane crash, acting as her mentor and opening all the right doors for her. Where Javier is a broken alcoholic, Jane is a Senator, being fast-tracked for the next Presidential election, backed by the powerful Luke (a.k.a. Lucifer). Despite having every advantage Jane remains a decent person; one who is slowly sinking into the cutthroat world of high-stakes politics.

As Lash works to protect Naomi he begins to fall for her. Can he still protect Naomi if he is in love with her? Will his love for her risk his reinstatement as a seraph?

There are plots within plots here, and together Naomi and Lash must navigate the dangers. What does Jane's story have to do with Naomi? The book a decent storyline, with a few well placed mysteries to keep some forward momentum going. All in all it was an what I'd call an OK beach book. The ending felt a bit rushed to me, and between that and my inability to solidly connect with the character of Lash, I'm not so sure that I'll be going back for the next book in the series.

I found this to be an interesting book. I quite enjoyed most of the characters, in particular Lash and Naomi. The scenes around them were great. It didn't take me too long to get into this book, and the story pulls you along very well. I've never been a big fan of the angel genre, but I would gladly read more in this series or anything else that L.G. Castillo writes.

Lash is a story that you cannot put down! Lash is an Angel that was banished to Earth for saving a life that he was not suppose to. Now 35 years later he wants back in Heaven, the archangel Raphael gives him his opportunity to go home. Watch after and protect Naomi Duran. Lash figures this is going to be a simple babysitting job, but it turns out to be a bunch of near death experiences, fighting, and running. There is definitely something else going on that Lash was not told about. Naomi has a tragic back story that really tugs at your heartstrings. Naomi and Lash have such a strong connection and their chemistry is off the charts hot! Can Lash and Naomi be together or are they doomed to be starstruck lovers?

L.G. Castillo captures readers with her witty banter, forbidden romance, and her characters past experiences. Both Naomi and Lash have made mistakes, but when they find one another they realize that there is more to life. The fiery romance, the unique plot, and non stop action make Lash a fast paces, quick read, that will leave you wanting more!

Great angel story, I loved it!

I loved it even more after I came across where the author incorporated some Spanish wording, traditions and culture. A little like the music Bachata…half in Spanish half in English well in this case maybe 5% Spanish 95% English. Don’t get worried the Spanish words used are simple and typical words that everyone has picked up.

OMG Lash, what a character and you have to love the very religious Welita!! I can’t say enough or know how to express myself on how much I enjoyed this story. An angel was sent to protect a human girl, I can see it coming from a mile away… he falls for the girl….not good for the angel… and where there’s angels there are always demons or evil around…good vs. evil…done before I know, but not like this!. For Lash one decision has consequences beyond belief; instead of helping he has condemned her future. The story has a unique plot when everything is put together, and this story was put together very well.

The other main character which I should mention is Neomi, half Caucasian half Latina 21 year old college graduate. With the death of those close to her she has lost faith, and that is where Lash comes in, he is to protect her and keep her alive so he can go back to heaven. If only he would follow directions this one time, he’ll be able to go home.

I was blown away after reading a section where Lash is going through a phase after he gets banished from Heaven….the actions and the life that he practices…I was like….wow, no way. He can’t do that…can he? Which is the only section I found that might be for mature teens.

Lash is an awesome YA supernatural romance novel, that flows well and that’s also well paced. I was very emotional while reading the story it was that good. The ending is a little questionable, but did not take anything away from the story. I recommend Lash to mature YA, because of two scenes which are written very tasteful…very nice. I would with no problems have allowed my teenager to read it. I’m definitely placing this Indie author on my favorite list and will be keeping my eye out for her next book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

It was amazing the affinity I had with the story. I know that once again we return to the story about Angel (and not just finished to read a lot about them? Finale, Becca Fitzpatrick). But still, it is hard not to like Lash.
First because his story is well explained from the beginning. Even if later we can find other mysteries, errors and reasons why they happened to him, they are well explained.
Then, because the book has plenty of action, mystery, involving characters (with their sense of humor, their presence, their powers) and the romance, which is very cute.
The love scenes are beautiful, without falling into vulgarity. The description of how Lash feels for her makes you feel exactly what happens to him. The author took great care not to write a story quickly.
The cover artwork is also beautiful. When looking at the cover you already know who are the main characters.
And like any story that has a lot angel, you are faced with all sorts of "el" of life (Raphael, Rachel, Jeremiel, Michael ...), but some of them changed  their names to a modern one.
And pay attention on Jeremy. This angel will  give the talk. And he is a charm!
And the final scene brought me to tears. Nothing like having faith.

Just wanted to say that this book came to me in a really GOOD time.
This is a really great book. It has been a long time since I
was able to read something that I couldn't put down. Lash is my new
book husband. If you are looking for a good Paranormal genre book that
has Angels in them with a great history behind it, this will be the
book you want to read. Lets not forget to mention how this also has an amazing romance theme going on with some hott sex scenes. ;-) More Lash please...
I also love how Lash isn't one of those perfect angels. He also had to find himself in the story. When have you ever seen an Angel who had similar real life issues as a human? That only shows that not everyone or anything is perfect.
The way the author writes is beyond incredible.
I can picture every scene in my head like if I was the character. I
can't wait for the next installment. I am glad I was given the opportunity to read good quality work.
From now on I will always wonder which Guardian Angel I will have watching
    over me.

LASH folds together redemption and human/angel Romance. Lahash (

LASH folds together redemption and human/angel Romance. Lahash (or Lash), a Seraph assigned to protecting humans, makes a grave mistake when he shows human compassion: He saves someone who shouldn't have been saved. While his heart was in a good place, he's banished from Heaven for it. He spirals downward from there, with drugs and sex. A more disrespectful mouth when it comes to authority, too. He's broken, away from home. But if he wants to return after thirty-five years, his must tested, and it's a battle between will and willfulness, to mean good or do good.

I love how Lash isn't exactly the typical bad boy or broken angel. He's inherently good. He means well (usually). It just leads him to make bad choices, which makes him more human and lovable. What I love even more is that while they're bad choices, they're not necessarily wrong  ones. His new assignment is to protect Naomi, and though he doesn't always succeed, it leads to better things, for him and everyone else.

It's with his atypical imperfections that L.G. Castillo did a fantastic job on the timeless theme of good vs. evil, Heaven vs. Hell, free will vs. fate, mixed with Romance. He's not the hero in a traditional sense or even the average Paranormal Romance, and his struggle to be so intertwines with his decision between Heaven and Naomi so perfectly that they become one and the same. He has to learn not only to obey but also understand that love means having trust and faith—both ways.

Add a strong cast of characters with wonderful familial bonds, as well as their own twists and personal issues, plus the fact that Naomi is as willful as Lash is, and LASH was intricate and fun. All the secondary characters and interaction was fresh and genuine. They made me smile and laugh and become even more curious what will happen to them. The connection between Lash and Naomi developed naturally. I really appreciated how it didn't overshadow the plot, and the sex was sensual and tastefully done. I also liked the author's spin on the angels and their world.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the Broken Angel Trilogy. I enjoy reading about characters needing to be saved along with doing the saving. I'm hoping a certain someone in the series will be, in the end. There's hope for the supposed villain yet, and there's nothing I love more than that. L.G. Castillo tied off story threads nicely while still leaving enough depth and mystery and intrigue for more. If you're a fan of well-written novels revolving around angels, with a good deal of action and heart-warming laughs, I encourage you to read LASH.

I was given this book as an ARC for my honest opinion. This is the first book by L.G. Castillo and is the first in the series Broken Angel.

This book is about a fallen angel (Lash) who, as a seraph, is sent on various assignments to guard/protect humans. The book opens with Lash being assigned to save the life of an eight year old boy, Javier, who is alone on a flight home to his mother. When the plane catches fire, Javier is understandably afraid. A young girl sitting in front of him offers him comfort, holding his hand to try to make him feel better. Lash is so touched by her kindness that he saves her life as well as Javier's...thus getting himself kicked out of heaven for once again going his own way. The story really begins 35 years later, when Lash is assigned to protect Naomi, the daughter of Javier.

I really enjoyed this story. It has a little of everything: great characters, a hot MC, action, a little drama/romance, and NO LOVE TRIANGLE (YAY!!!). I really liked Naomi. Although she was dramatic, she wasn't melodramatic, even though she had reason to be (unlike many heroines in books lately), so I could relate. It took me a while to like Lash, but I think that was the point. It was hard for me to reconcile an angel of God doing the things he was doing in the beginning of the story. But once I got to the point where he meets Naomi, he becomes likeable. By the end, I adored him. The side characters in this book are great as well. I loved the relationship Naomi has with her grandmother, Welita, and cousin, Chuy. I even enjoyed the interaction everyone has with the dog, Bear (which is a female lol). I hope these characters appear some in the rest of the series.

There wasn't a cliffhanger (thank God!), but this story will continue throughout the rest of the books in the series. It doesn't seem to be the type of series where there are different MCs in each book. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. As interesting as I found this book, I believe the next book has the potential to be really exciting.

For all those years he still stood by his last grave error and never really understood his punishment. Not until he meets Naomi, (Spoiler) the daughter of a boy he saved from a plane crash. His last assignment where he not only saved the boy, but another girl who seemed so kind that he couldn’t bear for her to die too. It isn’t until this moment when the pieces of his split second decision really begin to affect the world around him.

Lash really grows as a character through the story. He starts off a bit like a petulant child who evolves into the hero and type of angel he should have always been.

Naomi has always been a strong woman with a mind and opinion of her own, so when she suddenly is thrown into a situation where her life begins to spin out of control, Lash’s presence brings her comfort and a sense of peace she’s only known from her father and grandmother.

Overall, a wonderful debut novel. The story was intriguing and the action, especially the last third, was virtually non-stop. I liked the author’s use of family and while I don’t know much about angelic mythology, I enjoyed her take on it. I’m curious to read the next book to find out more about how things unravel for this group.

I also want to commend Castillo for ending her book properly and while leaving us all wanting to know what happens, doing it without a huge cliffhanger. This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine when I have to wait a year or more to find out if a main character lives or dies. Thanks for tying up the loose ends first and still leaving us wanting more. A difficult skill to master. Bravo.

Brilliant debut novel! Lash is a MUST READ!!!!

Some people aspire to be writers, so they start writing and end up producing some pretty good work. Others were born to be writers, and when they write the sky opens up and beautiful rainbows appear. I believe that L.G. Castillo evokes rainbows, and she proves it in this impressive debut novel.

From the very first chapter I was completely invested in these characters. Something about that first chapter captivated me to the point that I knew I wouldn’t be turning off my Kindle anytime soon. That first chapter laid the foundation for the rest of the story. Without it, I don’t think I would have felt the vast array of emotions I did while reading this book. It usually takes me a good amount of time to get comfortable with the characters, to truly feel like I know them. That wasn’t the case here. I could hear Anita’s voice in my head while she spoke on the phone. I knew for certain what her voice sounded like.

In the next few chapters Castillo really starts to sink her claws in, and at that point I am certain it will be painful to pull away. Naomi and her family — Welita, Javier and Chuy — really tugged at my heart strings. They are such a loving, devoted family full of culture and laughter and fun; one you want to be a part of. Within just those few chapters I felt as if I knew them, wanted to be a part of their family dynamic. I was falling deeper into the rabbit hole. I knew it was going to be one of those nights. You know what I’m talking about, the nights where you claim to have insomnia, but really you just can’t pull yourself away from the book you’re reading, and you don’t care how many cups of coffee it will take to keep your eyes open the following day.

Lash is our main character, and he is one of those swoon-worthy angels that make you want to sin — a lot. His character development is astounding. So much happens to him throughout this story! By the same token, a great deal is thrown at Naomi. By the time chapter five rolled around I was shifting in my seat, the intensity of the story building at a steady pace. I couldn’t read fast enough! For a moment I wished I was Trinity in The Matrix so I could just yell out, “Read Lash,” and have every morsel consumed within minutes.

Although parts of the story were slightly predictable, there was a twist or two I didn’t see coming at me. At one point I do recall shouting, “No way!” then having to wave my husband and his concerned glances away. I will say that I am not yet sure how I feel about the ending. I loved it and I didn’t. Don’t get me wrong, by the last page the tears were flowing steadily and my husband took full advantage of poking fun at me, but there were certain aspects I didn’t care for. It wasn’t enough to keep me from loving this book, but it was there. Now, I know what you’re thinking — was she crying tears of sorrow, or tears of joy? Sorry, I can’t tell you that. You’ll have to find out for yourselves.

Final thought: Lash is a fantastic debut novel by L.G. Castillo, filled with love, laughter, suspense, and smoking hot angels (yes, more than one!). To anyone that loves the paranormal romance genre, I strongly suggest you add it to your TBR as fast as you can. Castillo is an author you are going to want to keep your eye on. I mean, who doesn’t love rainbows?
