This is a throwback police procedural romantic suspense in which Hepburn-Tracy need to star

In Chicago, heiress Jordan Rhodes owns the high end DeVine Cellars wine store. She is invited to all the elite soirees and besides her father ranked in the top ten of wealth by Forbes, she is beautiful and charming; ergo men desire her. Jordan's only down is her brother Kyle's incarceration.

FBI Agents Seth Huxley and Nick McCall need to attend the annual Valentine's Day party tossed by Xander Eckhart so that one of them can plant bugs in his office to find information on the man's link to notorious Roberto Martino. The feds visit Jordon at her store where they offer her a get out of jail card for her computer geek sibling in exchange for allowing Nick to escort her to the Eckhart gala; she agrees. However, the scheme goes awry leading to Nick becoming Jordan's escort to keep her safe; however they continue the charade that looks like the real deal perhaps because they are falling in love.

This is a throwback police procedural romantic suspense in which Hepburn-Tracy need to star. The tale combines danger with light humor such as McCall's revelation as to why men watch Dancing with the Stars. Although the bodyguard gimmick has been used a lot in books and movies (see the Costner-Houston film The Bodyguard) sub-genre fans will enjoy the fast-paced story line as the beautiful bodacious billionaire and the fearsome Fed fuss, fight and fall in love.

There is a lot to love about it!

This is a great, fast-paced read. Once I started, I didn't stop until I was finished. The best parts were the quips between Jordan and Nick. Even the wine talk and its terminologies were enjoyable - I had no idea you could read certain connotations into it. Another book that I kept thinking about while reading it was "Pride and Prejudice". Like it, this book is centered around two main characters who both have an unwanted attraction and certain prejudices towards each other. Nick sees his job as a hindrance for any long-term relationship and doesn't fit into her lifestyle. Jordan thinks he's arrogant and that he annoys her most of the time. Julie James' books are categorized as romance, but this like "Something About You" is more romantic suspense with steam. I enjoy each book more than the last and can't wait for her next one.

    Awesome

    ## BEST. BOOK. EVER. You absolutely must read this book. It was fabulous. The story was intriguing, sweet and very funny. The hero was YUMMY. This is by far my favorite heroine ever. Sweet, strong, beautiful, funny and very sarcastic. Loved this couple. And the chemistry between them was electric. Even the ending was satisfying (after so much time invested in a book, i hate it when the author doesn't spend time on a good juicy ending). Not the case here. Cant say enough about this amazingly sexy read!

    Well worth the wait!

I look forward to each of her new releases and console myself by telling myself that the wait in between books will give me a better read and "A Lot Like Love" totally proved me right.
A very humorous read with enough sex, action and actual romance to keep me reading in between toddler emergencies. I soaked up all the wine info and really want to go to a wine bar now.
The lead characters felt very well matched and I specially liked the way Jordan quantified how much she disliked Nick throughout the book with percentages. I'm definitely looking forward to Kyle's book and hoping the Ivy League FBI agents keep on showing up, because I love sexy geeks.
I would recommend this book for book club discussions because Nick and Jordan have enough of a life outside of the plot line to make discussion interesting.

    I Also Recommend:

    Awesome READ!

Okay, I'm gonna start this review off a little different from others. This series was phenomenal; an excellent read and even in my world where I try to get reading done, but often my life and/or my own writing interferes, I just couldn't put this series down, especially this book.

I do think About That Night is the best of the series so far. To see Kyle finally get his HEA was a nice ride and the quirks that happen between him and Rylann were so funny, they had me laughing so hard I was in tears.

I would definitely recommend this series to anyone looking for a bit of suspense, a lot of comedy and a whole lot of sexy scenes. A great read, once again.

    5 out of 5 stars.

    AWESOME!!

This book had my attention from the start! I read about 1/3 of it putting it down a few times due to time issues but the rest of the 2/3 I finished in one night/morning. The plot had great twists, and was very easy to visualize and put yourself in Jordan's shoes. It was also easy to visualize the hunk of an Italian man Nick was! The ending caught me by surprise...I didnt want it to end! I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a great read :)

    Couldn't put it down!

This was a great read, with intriguing characters and a plot just suspenseful enough to not be a cliche romance (where the only conflict is the two characters thinking they aren't worth each other.... which there is a little bit of, I must admit) It was sweet and it was thrilling, and I ended up staying awake past 4 am to finish this in one go. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a nice break from the everyday.

    Don't miss this great read!

I've had this book on my Nook wish list for a while and wish I would have downloaded it sooner! The story and characters were great and I'll be sure to pick up more books by Ms. James. I think this is the second book in a series, but I didn't feel lost at all. Can't wait to download my next Julie James book!

    Loved It!!!

Wow! I consider myself a bit of a romance novel guru and I definitely underestimated this book. I was so pleased to learn that Julie James ranks right up there with Rachel Gibson, Susan Mallery and Susan Donovan! This book is definitely worth your time. You will not be disappointed

A lovely story, full of fun and sizzle

A Lot Like Love by Julie James is a delightful fun and sexy read.

Jordan Rhodes has never let her families' wealth define her, she is happy running her wine store and being with her friends. Her orderly world is turned upside down when the FBI comes calling. They need access to an acquaintance of Jordan's and in turn they offer to have her brother Kyle released from prison. Jordan's brother got a bad deal in his sentence and she agrees to help out the FBI. But when the initial agent gets sick she is stuck with his partner who initially rubs her the wrong way.

Nick McCall was only supposed to be on this case in a back up position, when the lead agent is taken ill he must step in. Jordan Rhodes is not at all what he thought she would be her father's wealth doesn't affect her at all. She is smart, sexy and makes his heart beat fast. Nick has a hard time keeping his mind focused on the case when all he wants to do it be alone with Jordan.

Nick and Jordan pose as a newly dating couple to gain access to the target's inner circle. Spending so much time together has them both delighting in getting to know each other. But there are others who will stop at nothing to keep their livelihood going the same as always. When the danger strikes Jordan, Nick will do everything he has to protect her.

A Lot Like Love is an exceptional contemporary romance. It is full of witty dialogue and sexy characters. Watching Jordan and Nick journey to being in love is a joy to watch. Their chemistry is off the charts and sparks every time they are together. The added suspense is just the right touch in this story. I am so glad I found this author and can't wait to read her next books.

    Awesome Read!

Julie James spun a very good story in "A Lot Like Love." Nick and Jordan have the perfect flirting chemistry. The story line was easy to follow and it grab and held my attention. The camaraderie between Nick and Jordan felt very real, like it could actually be between a real live couple. Julie James did an awesome job!
