The Salt Box Trilogy, Book 2

The reality show Lovely Ladies of L.A. should have launched Lizzy Apodaca's catering company into solvency. Instead, when her carefully prepared appetizers mysteriously gave the cast on-camera food poisoning, she lost everything.

To make matters worse, her car breaks down in Salt Box, Colorado, a town not much bigger than a salt shaker. But maybe her luck is changing-the handsome owner of Praeger House, the town's premier hotel, needs a kitchen assistant.

Clark Denham realizes his diamond in the rough is a polished gem when Lizzy steps up to save the hotel's breakfast buffet after his temperamental head chef quits. It isn't long before she's winning his heart as smoothly and efficiently as she runs his kitchen.

Their relationship goes from simmer to rolling boil with the speed of a short order cook. But when a bevy of not-so-lovely ladies shows up in Salt Box, Lizzy's past disaster threatens to flatten her happily ever after faster than a falling soufflé.

Warning: Contains salty dialogue, several servings of high-carb cooking, and a big platter of screaming-hot bedroom delights.

Pure Enjoyment! Salt Box, Colorado is a far cry from reality T.V. in L.A., but that's exactly where Lizzy Apodaca ends up. After a fiasco in L.A. where Lizzy loses everything and hits rock bottom, Lizzy's life turns into the old saying of once you hit rock bottom, there's nowhere to go but up. Well, at least it looks that way for awhile. In the process of going back up, Lizzy lands a job that is right up her alley, falls for Clark Denham, and makes new friends. Everything is definitely looking up until her past comes out of the woodwork. Now what? The story was pure enjoyment! I love how author, Meg Benjamin, tells a story of romance, but throws in humor and intrigue. The intrigue part ends up being a whodunnit of sorts with some surprises thrown in making it difficult to guess who did do it. Throw in some fun and colorful characters and you have a wonderful and fun romance story that doesn't disappoint. ***Recommended for mature readers ages 18+. ****I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Meg Benjamin is back with a hearty love story full of tasty characters and mouthwatering storylines. A string of bad luck collapses Lizzy's career prospects. Looking to start anew brings her to the wrong place at the right time. Clark is the helping hand she needs to get back on track. All he needs is her culinary skills, all she needs is a chance. A partnership based on need quickly grows into a relationship built on want. Having read Finding Mr. Right a while back I knew what was in store. Love in The Morning has the romance that is expected from Ms. Benjamin's stories but also supplies that needed element of emotional connection that appeals to the heart. There is a bright side to every dark cloud thrown out in life. I received an ARC of Love in The Morning in exchange for an honest review. Copyright of Night Owl Reviews

Wow, what a totally awesome book from author Meg Benjamin! Love in the Morning grabs you right from the beginning and the engaging plot never loses momentum. The two primary characters, chef Lizzy Apodaca, and hotel owner Clark Denham, have undeniable chemistry and their journey is replete with desire, trust and love. This is the second book from Ms. Benjamin's Salt Box Trilogy and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. Lizzy Apodaca is a talented chef. Due to reality TV and her cousin's so-called best friend, Lizzy's catering business, financial situation and future in the Los Angeles area crumbles. Her luck and confidence slowly returns, as she begins to make a new life for herself in the small resort town of Salt Box Colorado. By chance, Lizzy gets both a kitchen assistant's position and a small room to live in at Praeger House, one of the town's popular hotels. Only a short time into her new job, the current chef unexpectedly resigns, and as a result, Lizzy becomes the new chef. Her new boss, hotel owner Clark Denham, does not watch reality TV, so he has no idea what he has gotten himself into. Clark recognizes that Lizzy is harboring some big secret from her past, but her talent in the kitchen more than makes up for any of his misgivings. As Lizzy and Clark get to know each other, their attraction sizzles and evolves into so much more. This is a refreshing love story with an interesting plot and well-defined characters. Ms. Benjamin is an excellent storyteller and her words kept me entertained from beginning to end. If you enjoy a novel with a strong heroine, an eclectic group of caring friends, and a hero that just won't give up, then check out this book. Overall, this is an exciting and slightly emotional read that twists and turns in all the right places. Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.
