Overview

Masked in a Gypsy guise, Broderick MacDougal hides his vampiric identity while seeking to destroy the man who slaughtered his family. When an old Clan rival ensnares Broderick in a trap using an enticing widow, he is compelled to discover if she is bait or an accomplice, and the cinnamon-haired beauty is his next conquest.
Widow of an abusive husband, Davina Stewart-Russell clings to the only image that gave her strength during those dark times—the Gypsy rogue who stole her heart as a youth. After nine years, she is finally face-to-face with him again, but reality clashes with fantasy as she is confronted with Broderick’s passionate pursuit.
When Davina’s past comes back to haunt her, Broderick is forced to reveal a dark secret worse than anything Davina thought possible. The challenge before them has fatal risks and neither of them is prepared for the sacrifices expected for the sake of eternal love.

4.0 out of 5 stars The reader will first notice the cover; eye-catching and alluring the cover will pull the readers in. The novel is very long, but this shouldn't deter a dedicated reader. The main characters are both very easy to get to know and enjoy reading about. The reader will like their quirks and qualities. Excerpts of 5-STAR Review:
"Arial's debut novel Midnight Conquest is a great example of two genres, paranormal and historical. Plus it doesn't deal with things that are all sweetness and light. ... All the baddies get it, though, and there is a happily ever after...so YAY! I loved this book! Arial gives us a teaser of the next book in the series and I really can't wait for it." REALLY GREAT READ

I NORMALLY DO NOT BUY A BOOK WITHOUT REVIEWS FIRST, BUT I TOOK A CHANCE THIS TIME.
THIS WAS A VERY LONG BOOK (OVER 1500 PAGES).I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. IT HAD THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF ROMANCE, ACTION AND MYSTERY. THERE WERE ALSO SOME TWISTS. I COULD FOLLOW THE BOOK EASILY. MIDNIGHT CONQUEST WAS MORE ORIGINAL IN EVERY ASPECT. I WAS INTRIGUE THROUGH OUT. I CAN NOT WAIT TO READ BOOK TWO. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT TO THOSE WHO LIKE PARANORMAL ROMANCE.

I was pretty impressed with this book! I loved the twists and turns and the way the author fed just bits of information throughout the story, keeping me flipping the pages. And the sex was not only sensuous and hot, but it contributed to the story and the relationship. There's not one but TWO HEAs (happily ever afters) and an enticing sneak peak at book 2, and I heard the author just came out with the second book. Soooo looking forward to Book 2!

I highly recommend this book for lovers of paranormal romance, paranormal fiction and epic storylines that span a series. Nicely done!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Broderick and Davina. Broderi

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Broderick and Davina. Broderick is betrayed and turned into a vampire while in clan wars with the Campbells. Broderick travels with gypsies and tells fortunes, when he meets Davina for the first time when she is 13. He predicts her life is going to be hard, but that she is strong at heart and to remember that and keep strong. Nine years later Davina has been married to Ian and he is physically abusive, he has already caused her one miscarriage. The storyline was very good. The characters were very strong and the author did a great job of mixing together paranormal fantasy with Historical accuracies.

Davina Stewart Russell has long held onto childhood dream told t

Davina Stewart Russell has long held onto childhood dream told to her by gypsy fortune teller. Davina holds onto the strength in her heart for she'll need it in the future. Davina is barely hanging on at this time in part thanks to her husband Ian's abusive ways. Yet she knows that rescue is in sight either. Davina's father doesn't trust Ian to be a proper husband or manager of finances either. Broderick MacDougal is Vampsyrian that uses the guise of a gypsy fortune teller to help Amice and her granddaughter Veronique. Broderick has spent his immortal life learning ways to help him be able to fight Angus Campbell. Broderick wants to end this feud between them sooner rather than later. Broderick does his nightly fortune telling when he meets Davina again. Broderick can't seem to get Davina out of his mind or his heart. Davina isn't the trusting soul she used to be. Davina doesn't really let anyone into her heart and soul easily. Davina is intrigued by Broderick yet very leery of him as well. Will Davina let Broderick into her heart? Can Broderick gain Davina's trust? Will Broderick find Angus? Your answers await you in Midnight Conquest.

I've read alot of vampire books but none like this one which is paranormal historical romance that's quite a mouthful to say let alone type. I'll say this though it is not your typical historical or paranormal romance despite the setting. Here's why the author did a really great job of blending the two groups together in such a way that was seamless from beginning to end. I'm really glad I got the opportunity to read this book. The characters were rich and bold as well as completely real. I'm definitely looking forward to this author's next book and continuing this series too.

Um...holy crap? This first in the Bonded by Blood Vampire Chroni

Um...holy crap? This first in the Bonded by Blood Vampire Chronicles by Ms. Burnz is OUTSTANDING! I fell so in love with Broderick, I walked around the house FOR DAYS just day-dreaming about the guy. What a great, great hero. And the villian? At times I wanted to reach inside the book and throttle him around the neck! Beautiful love story that spans the life of the heroine, as she battle an abusive husband, the motherly obligation of protecting her child, and a deep emotional connection to a mysterious vampire that captured her heart as a young girl. Oh...and for those of you that love a prophecy, get ready. I can't WAIT to read the second in the series to find out how this all plays out. Kudos to Ms. Burnz for snaring my attention body, mind and soul!

WHAT A JOY RIDE - I truly can't believe this is the first book by this author. I enjoyed how the author starts with Broderick being "turned" and how Davina falls in love with him at age 13 and meets up with him later, but the love match isn't smooth sailing at all! This is a story of abuse (not by our H), trust, romance that builds slowly, and just darn interesting. At times, I couldn't stand the suspense, but my e-reader down, but had to return to it because I had to know the ending. There is so much going on, but it isn't hard to follow at all. Many stories within the story, that held your interest. I usually enjoy Highland or Regency Romance stories, but now and again, like to mix the genre up and this was a great book to do that. Off to Book 2! (ljb)

There is an intensity to Burnz’s writing that keeps you coming back for more.  You can almost feel shades of darkness emanating from the story.  It melds with the storyline to create a rather unique appearance overall.  I found myself trying to puzzle out the ending well before I got there.  That said, by about half way through the novel I was hooked and thoroughly enjoying myself.  Burnz’s vivid descriptions paint this world for you in a way that you can’t help but picture.

The characters in this novel were definitely one of a kind.  Burnz develops each individually, creating a varied cast, allowing someone for each reader to identify with.  The dialogue in this story definitely threw me for a loop at times.  There were individuals who spoke as if they were in medieval Europe, and others who sounded as if they should be in modern day North America.  This made it rather difficult to stay fully immersed in the storyline.

As a whole, this was a rather enjoyable read and a good introduction to the series.  I’ll be continuing on to see what happens next.

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

    True Love Trumps Everything

Talk about historical/paranormal/romantic bliss wrapped in dark intrigue! Midnight Conquest by Arial Burnz sent me back to a time and place where superstitions and myths can become reality, gypsies have “the sight,” and two souls can find bone deep love that will last an eternity.

Davina meets the man she feels sure she is destined to love as a child, but there is more to Broderick than his handsome appearance, much more and soon he is gone. The years go by, Davina has married an abusive man, had his child and freed herself from his brutal clutches. Broderick comes back into her life, and although they have both changed, their hearts have not. But will loving Davina put her in danger from an ancient enemy out to destroy Broderick? Will she accept who and what he is?

Arial Burnz rocked my world with the attention to detail she uses to set her stage for this dark and often edgy romance. Her characters are simply amazing, from the old gypsy woman to the brutal and vindictive vampsyrian out to bring Broderick to his knees before ending his immortal life. Davina hasn’t let her life bury her in self-pity, she has a fierce a protective side that is a joy to see, especially for the era she lives in! And Broderick? I think he may be the ultimate romantic hero, in spite of his need for blood.

Once Ms. Burnz has her world firmly planted in your mind, this tale takes off and never lets up! She has created an atmosphere that feels real, feels dangerous, yet she never let the romance falter for a minute. Take a walk on the dark side of history where love is like a beacon bringing two people together as they share a once in a lifetime love!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (Lovers of Paranormal).

Broderick McDougal, once a man of wealth, is now traveling as a gypsy in order to hide his vampiric identity. But he isn't just traveling for fun, no, now he wants revenge: He wants to kill the man, who destroyed his life, until he meets young Davina...

Davina used to be a happy and naive young girl, but life didn't happen in her favor, when she was married to a violent man. Now the only hope in her life is the gypsy, who might come to rescue her...

At first I expected this novel to be more about Broderick and his revenge, but in fact most of the novel centers around Davina. While I was a little bit disappointed, I still enjoyed reading though.
Davina is a really nice and likeable character. You just have to pity her for her father's bad choice to have her marry a horrible man. Although I'm not so sure about Broderick, he has some kind of shady parts, I like both of them as a couple. Broderick is simply the kind and caring man Davina needs.

A big negative point for me was all the sex and erotic stuff though. I have to admit erotic novels are probably just not my cup of tea. I enjoy having some erotic scenes here and there, but I dislike stories, that center around it. In my case Midnight Conquest gave me a feeling like it could have been better, if there weren't that much physical attraction and more action and intrigue. I still have high hopes though, maybe there will be more of a plot in the upcoming novels.

An Emotional Read That Goes on a Bit Too Long

There's a lot going on in this first book in the Bonded By Blood series Midnight Conquest by Arial Burnz, almost too much at times. It's a sweeping saga that Ms. Burnz has created full of blood, sweat, and tears and makes for a difficult read at times due to its intensity, subject matter of domestic abuse, and its length. The early parts of the story get weighted down with lots of info and setting up the mythos behind Vamsyrians but picks up the pace towards the end to culminate in a satisfying but quickly resolved conclusion. While there's a definitive ending for many characters there's still plenty of issues left to deal with in the next installment that has already been released and is one that you won't want to miss.

Broderick has been unlucky in love and these betrayals have changed his life dramatically. His wife's betrayal as well as that of another beguiling temptress have left him with no choice but to join the ranks of vampire in order to enact his revenge towards Angus, who slaughtered his family. Part of his plan requires him to stay in hiding which leads to him becoming part of a Gypsy caravan and telling fortunes. The day he meets sweet Davina will irrevocably change his future, and with the secrets surrounding her and a Prophecy that they're smack dab in the middle of, the future of all Immortals. He's immediately drawn to her and tells her that life will be difficult for her ahead but that she must endure. Years later his attraction is just as intense but she's become hardened over the years due to abuse and it will take much wooing to win her over as danger and evil surrounds them. Their relationship requires much struggle as the past comes back to haunt them but endures through sensual and immensely satisfying sexual interludes. Broderick is a wonderful hero who's a bit rough around the edges now after starting off as a gentleman early in life. He's rugged, loyal, and desperate to take past pains away from Davina. Though he's a bit overbearing at times, and obsessed with revenge to ocassionally lose sight of all else, I still found him immensely appealing and thought Davina earned the right to have someone so protective to care for her.

Since that fateful day in the Gypsy camp Davina has kept the image of Broderick in mind whenever she needed something to keep her going. After enduring years of vicious domestic abuse she finally thinks she's free but the past is still with her as it's hardened her heart And made her question her own beliefs and the real meaning of love. Davina is a typical heroine of the time as she did as she was bid. She was a loving mother and good to those in her inner circle, particularly her maid Rosselyn who has much mystery surrounding her and plays a bigger role in the story than you'd think. Davina showed brief flashes of backbone but for the most part merely endured and was overpowered by the larger than life Broderick.

There are numerous villains in this story (Ian is particularly nasty) and just when you think one has gotten their comeuppance another comes out of the woodwork. This led to a lot of jumping around in the storyline and became almost laughable in you kept wondering what bad thing would befell our main couple next. The author vividly depicts this time period but doesn't let it overwhelm a story that goes on a bit too long. It's a promising start though to a paranormal/historical series that readers will enjoy.

    3.75 STARS!
