4 Stars From Sammy's Book Obsession MY THOUGHTS~  I was provided with a Review Copy/ARC for review. I was impressed with this collection of novellas! I don't generally enjoy a novella as much as a full-length novel, but these were pretty good.  There was a nice variety of authors with their own different writing styles and that was interesting. As a whole, these were very written.  Although all the different stories were based around the hospital to a point, they aren't connected to one another. They can be read in any order and if there is one that you find you aren't particularly interested in, you can skip it and not miss anything as far as the hospital goes. 4/5 Off Duty -Sawyer Bennett  5/5 Rebound -Chelle Bliss  5/5 Wanting to Forget -Toni Aleo  4/5 Closet Confession -Kindle Alexander  5/5 Brenda Rothert -Healing Touch  4/5 Swimming in Shadows -Eden Butler

. This is a fantastic group of novellas by some of the best authors out there today. All take place in a place where anything can happen and generally does...New Orleans! Plus, all of the stories are connected in some way to a hospital. These books also deal with real issues and one of the major things I took from this anthology is #LoveIsLove. It doesn't matter your race, your gender, your socioeconomic status or anything else, you're going to love who you love and everyone should be allowed to do just that without judgment. Kudos to these wonderful ladies who put together a great group of stories!

Not a fan of this book.  The stories are too short.  I feel like the stories started in the middle, and didn't really  end.  I felt confused through most of them.  The first and the last stories were good.

5 star This is an anthology that contains 6 short novellas.  They are all steamy and passion filled.  Each author brings there game to keep you interested.   Some of the stories don’t have HEA’s as they are a start to lead you into another book.  A few of these authors I have read before but a few were new to me.  Some of the character development was done quickly or implied.  But all in all I enjoyed something from each of the stories. Off Duty - Sawyer Bennett Tim Davis and Holly Reynolds get a second chance at love.  They were in love and her family broken them up.  Now they are older and can get that second chance they have always wanted. Rebound - Chelle Bliss Flash was heartbroken but after meeting a new woman who is not like his lost love he can finally move on.  If you have not read Chelle’s books before you will not understand Flash as well as if you have read them before. Wanting to Forget - Toni Aleo Jordie Thomas is in love with a woman but he is going to do whatever he has to in order to get her out of his mind.  If that means sleeping with other woman to clear his mind he will and does.  This is a lead in to a novel so it really an intro. Closet Confession - Kindle Alexander Dr. Derek Babineaux has a secret boyfriend who he has been with for years.  His boyfriend wants to keep the relationship quite.  Can Derek handle that or will he ask is partner to go public?  This is an M/M romance. Healing Touch - Brenda Rothert Joss is a little broken since her divorce but Carson is just the man to work her up.  Can they come together and heal there wounded hearts? Swimming in Shadows - Eden Butler Neil Ryan is broken.  He is drowning in his life, and alcohol.  Can he figure out what happened to his mother?  This is not a completed story it’s an intro to a story. I highly recommend this book.

4.5 out of 5 stars Six wonderfully crafted novellas written by six authors at the top of their game with 100% of the proceeds benefiting worthy charities -  I knew going into Night Shift: Dirty Things Happen in The Dark that this special project was going to be a wonderful treat. I was pleased to find meaningful tales of romance, heartbreak, steamy passion, second chance romance, and exciting mystery. I cannot recommend Night Shift: Dirty Things Happen in The Dark enough. You're going to want to grab this one ASAP. Off Duty by Sawyer Bennett - Oh this story has all the feels, forbidden first love torn cruelly apart, hurtful misunderstandings, a father's devotion to his son, and second chance romance full of hope. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Sawyer Bennett does good book boyfriends and Tim Davis (the hero of this tale) is no exception. I'm a Bennett fan girl and this novella hit my happy place. Rebound by Chelle Bliss - This tale of a heartbroken alpha looking to forget is scorching hot. What starts as a quick bar hook-up turns into a real possibility of forever. The hero and heroine are so clearly defined and real, I bought their connection and think you will too.  Wanting to Forget by Toni Aleo - Jordie Thomas is one of those special conflicting characters that will make you want to hug him while repeatedly punching him in the head.  Wanting to Forget may not win Jordie a lot of new fans (because of his man-whoring ways) but Aleo is the queen of emotional growth. Jordie is a complex character who does some dumb and douchey things but it's going to make his redemption that much sweeter.   Closet Confessions by Kindle Alexander - A steamy encounter between a lonely doctor and a tense trauma nurse  in a hospital closet turns out to have more meaning than meets the eye. Kindle Alexander pulls off a sweet twist that I adored. Closet Confessions left me with the biggest smile on my face. Healing Touch by Brenda Rothert - Take two adults who've experienced their fair share of heartbreak and self doubt, shut them in a small steamy space and watch passion ignite. The connection between Carson Stephens and Dr. Jocelyn Drake sizzled and I happily cheered for their HEA.  Swimming in Shadows by Eden Butler - Swimming in Shadows is the mystery component of the anthology and it definitely kept me on edge. This is my first taste of Eden Butlers writing and this novella was enough to make me want to check out more. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of Night Shift: Dirty Things Happen in The Dark. These novellas have a little bit of something for everyone and the causes the proceeds support couldn't be more worthy. Recommended without reservation. Happy reading.¿  This review is for The Reading Room Blog.

Most of the authors of the Night Shift novellas were new to me, and the book served as a great introduction. The fact that the entire book's proceeds are going to charity made the entire package twice as appealing; even though I got a review copy, I still went out and bought my own just because :) "Off Duty" is a sweet story about second-chances--second chances in romance, and second chances for a family. I loved this story from start to finish. If you haven't read Sawyer Bennet before, it's a great introduction. This novella is part of her Off series, but works well as a standalone. 4 stars/A- "Rebound" was my first story by Chelle Bliss. I liked its construction--it begins at the end, and then takes the reader back to the beginning to see how Flash and Fiona first meet. It's a fun and sexy tour of both New Orleans and the road back from heartbreak. 4 stars/B+ "Wanting to Forget" was a little more problematic--it's not really a romance; it's one man's destructive path toward getting a woman he believes he can't have out of his head. It's really hard to like Jordie here. Really hard. Since it's a prequel to his full-length novel ( Overtime ), there's hope for his redemption. I'm willing to give him a chance to turn things around, but at the end of this novella I don't know if I would if I were Kasey. Jordie has a serious amount of work ahead of him. Hopefully there will be groveling. And a major attitude adjustment... 3 stars/ C "Closet Confessions" was my first Kindle Alexander story. I really liked both Derek ("Dr. Baby"--adorable!) and Justin, and was rooting for them from the beginning. Ms. Alexander added a clever twist in her story that made it even more enjoyable. 4 stars/B+ Brenda Rothert's "Healing Touch" was another first read for me. I loved the romance between Joss and Carson--it was steamy but full of laugh-out-loud moments, not to mention an awesome use of a Magic 8 ball. The Magic 8 ball really does know all! I'll definitely be reading more from this author. 4 stars/A- Eden Butler's "Swimming in Shadows", like Toni Aleo's story, wasn't really a romance, though the potential is definitely there. Also like the earlier story, this is a prequel for a longer work, Shadows and Lies , the first in a new series. Fortunately, though, Ryan's a much more sympathetic character than Jordie, even though he too is in a pretty dark place. He's an Avengers fan, which puts me firmly in his corner. ;) 4 stars/A- Overall rating: 4 stars / B+ I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

4.5  Steamy Southern Stars As a blogger I have heard considerable buzz about most of these authors for quite some time, but until I got my hot little hands on this book file, I was only familiar with the wonderful talents of Chelle Bliss – loves me some Chelle Bliss – sigh.  Being new to the rest of these authors, I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed each tale in turn, but being true to my gal, I loved the work of Ms. Bliss best and hard.  But hold on – I now find her to be in a tie for top spot in my smut reader’s heart with my new love of Brenda Rothert!  I adored her characters and story of Healing Touch, and loved her writing, Ms. Rothert has mad skills!  I also enjoyed and appreciated the message of tolerance from Sawyer Bennett’s story, and the steamy hotness of Eden Butler, Kindle Alexander, and Toni Aleo – although I must confess, I truly despised and wanted to junk punch Ms. Aleo’s main character.  Having never been to the Big Easy, these tales seem to have started an itch, although I would rather avoid any hospital trips to Tulane Medical Center should I decide to go.

Closet Confession by Kindle Alexander for Night Shift Dirty Things Happen In The Dark Anthology!!! Dr. Derek Babineax works in the ER department of Tulane Medical in New Orleans and he's one of the most dedicated, sought after and hot doctor in this medical establishment. He is always in complete control until one day a hot new staff member awakens feelings that he had hidden for quite some time. Justin Delacroix has just finished a long stay in the military and working at this medical center is exactly what he needs to be a part of society again. Working as a trauma nurse in this very high pressured place is exactly what he needs. He now finds himself attracted to an ER doctor but he's holding Dr. Baby at a distance. This was an extremely hot and beautifully written novella by Kindle Alexander and of course she never disappoints and my only problem is that I wanted this novella and the story of Derek and Justin to go on and on. I loved the funny and quirky relationship between Dr. Derek and Mrs. Burch, gave us some great comedic moments. I love how these two guys were not looking for love or anything and then meeting in all places an ER was just perfect. The hot and steamy connection between these guys was the best ever and a night shift that no one will ever forget. Wow their brief encounter was so deliciously hot and so well-written no one writes gay sex scenes like Kindle Alexander. She must've been a horny gay man in a previous life as your scenes are so spot on. You'll fall for Derek and Justin as I did. I highly and I mean highly recommend this novella by Kindle Alexander!!!

I bouught this for two stories by Chelle Bliss and Toni Aleo and wasnt impressed with either. They were both like reading porn, especially Wanting to Forget by Toni Aleo. I get that Jordie is trying to forget that he's in love but doesn't want to be but if you love someone and have admitted it to yourself you dont look at some stranger and think OMG I need to f**k her. Just made me think of him as a manwhore and pig. Not sure I want to waste the money on his book now. Maybe it'll be free at some point.
