Love is dangerous…

“I’m a monster, Eva. There is no saving a monster. But I love that you want to try.”
My heart constricts at the expression on his face. He has no hope for himself, so I have to hope for him.
“You’re not a monster,” I argue softly. “You’re a man, Luca. A man like any other, you’re made of blood and bone.”

Luca Minaldi is powerful, rich and mesmerizing. But he is also a reclusive enigma. He lives in Malta, a fairytale-like place filled with sunshine and sea, beauty and secrets. And Luca’s darkest of secrets is the best kept of them all.

Eva Talbot is spending the summer in Malta to finish up her doctoral dissertation. When she meets Luca, a mysterious and handsome shipping magnate, there is an instant attraction. He has a disturbing and beautiful energy that she has never felt before. But she senses the darkness that lives within him.

Eva is hired to care for his mother, a woman who suffers from dementia, but it is Luca who Eva will eventually risk everything to save. She desperately wants to reach inside of him and fix what is broken, while at the same time, she knows that she is falling for him. Her life becomes a swirling chaos of darkness and romance, of secrets and mystery. And the question that emerges will become the most important answer of all.

Can she save Luca from the darkness that plagues him without losing herself?

The answer is a matter of life or death.

    Dark and Taboo and HOT!

What can I say about this book without getting spoilery? It's dark. It's taboo. And there's something about it that stays with you long after you finish. It probably has a lot to do with Luca. *sigh* Luca. I love this character more than I can say. He's strong yet he's tortured. He's sharp yet he's vulnerable. He's smart yet he's one of the sexiest male leads I've ever read. He'll captivate you just like he does Eva, who herself is a strong, confident, intelligent woman. There's heat and there's mystery and there's a twist that'll make you gasp. This book has it all. It's one of my favorite Courtney Cole novels and I think everyone who likes adult contemporary with a wicked edge should read this. If you don't believe me, just open up the "inside look" and read the prologue. If that doesn't hook you...well, it will. Trust me. Do it. Read it. Right now. Go see what I mean. And don't let the title mislead you. This is not a horror. This is the story about a man. And his demons. And his redemption

Eva Tablet is spending her summer on the beautiful Island of Mal

Eva Tablet is spending her summer on the beautiful Island of Malta, while she completes her dissertation. Eva is a psychiatrist. While there, she meets Luca Minaldi, the most eligible bachelor on the Island. Luca is rich, handsome, mysterious, aloof, and one of the most beautiful men Eva has ever seen. Eva prides herself on her ability to read people. In fact, this is part of what she is working on for her dissertation, but Luca Minaldi is an enigma, a mystery, which both baffles and intrigues her. Luca ends up hiring her to help at his estate with his mother, who suffers from dementia. Try as he knows he must, he cannot stay away from Eva. The darkness that encompasses Luca and tries to consume him, has kept him from having a relationship with anyone, which is the way it should be, or so Luca believes. Eva brings light to that darkness, and she wants nothing more than to help Luca. Aware of the risks, she is determined to save him. She moves to the Minaldi Estate at the insistence of Luca after the murder of several girls in the area. What she encounters while there, and the depth of her feelings for Luca leave her forever changed.

Of Blood and Bone is different than I expected, and I mean that in a good way. It has the feel of a psychological thriller, with mystery, suspense, and some really steamy romance. I liked Eva's character and admired her determination to find an answer for Luca's curse. Luca radiates hotness. Not only is he extremely easy on the eyes, he has that mysterious bad boy vibe about him that sucks you right in. This is a dark romance that will leave your mind and emotions reeling as the mystery plays out. The book is very intense, as are the issues that are addressed in the book. It was also very mysterious, and I found myself turning the pages to find out more about Luca, and about the curse that plaques him. The chemistry between Eva and Luca is sizzling, with some very steamy scenes. The ending really surprised me, because I really wasn't sure what to expect, and Courtney Cole really surprised me with the place she took this novel. This is Cole's first adult novel, and she has done an excellent job bringing the characters and the story to life. It is not lighthearted, but is very intense and emotional, so be prepared to deal with some very heart wrenching situations. I enjoyed this story a great deal. If you love hot romance, mystery, and suspense, with a psychological thriller type feel to it, you should check Of Blood and Bone out.

    Couldn't get into it...

Honestly I can't even tell you why I didn't like this book, but I can't even finish it. Don't feel like I connect with the characters and his back story is just boring.

I thought this book was great. It had a some of everything, romance, mystery, suspense, & steamy sex. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the ending felt a little rushed. Otherwise loved the book and could not put it down.
