Overview

The pushcarts have declared war!  New York City's streets are clogged with huge, rude trucks that park where they want, hold up traffic, and bulldoze into anything that is in their way, and the pushcart peddlers are determined to get rid of them. But the trucks are just as determined to get rid of the pushcarts, and chaos results in the city.

The pushcarts have come up with a brilliant strategy that will surely let the hot air out of their enemies.  The secret weapon—a peashooter armed with a pin; the target—the vulnerable truck tires.  Once the source of the flat tires is discovered, the children of the city joyfully join in with their own pin peashooters.  The pushcarts have won one battle, but can they win the war against a corrupt mayor who taxes the pins and prohibits the sale of dried peas?

The outbreak of a war between truck drivers and pushcart peddlers brings the mounting problems of traffic to the attention of both the city of New York and the world.

    pretty good

The Pushcart War was a really good book. It's funny, unpredictable, and overall has a good plot. It could have been more attention-grabbing but other than that has no flaws. I think it was a fun read and you should try it.

I'm 36 and I remember this book from 5th grade , its that good!

I remember my 5th grade teacher, Miss Kilgore, reading this book to our class in 1978. It was fun then and it is fun now. I am reading it to my 8 year old son. Enjoy!

Pushcart wars portrey Revolution for modern times

A tale about the pushcart peddlers and the massive trucks, who block the streets of New York. The Pushcart peddlers are fed up of being pushed around by the bossy truckers. They fight back! I found it wonderfully told and if your looking for a page turner, your search is over
