Overview

Fate hasn't exactly been kind to twenty-year-old Alexandra. Unless you count the fact that she can communicate with animals, the only piece of luck she's ever had was being rescued by a werewolf and landing in a forever home with an eccentric couple and their unusual pack of animals.

It's taken twelve years to earn the official title of Shepherd but she's now mostly trained, fairly effective, and the first female in over two centuries to hold the position as protector of animals. All animals...

The Territorial Council isn't thrilled with her new title of Shepherd, but they don't have any more control over the appointment than they have over her. All they can really do is wait for her to screw something up - which Alex is determined not to do.

Everything changes when a chance encounter with a genetically modified Shifter leaves Alex shaken and initiates a quest to locate its maker. In a desperate bid to save her pack, Alex must infiltrate the Parallax Corporation - an international organization with their hands in everything from biomedical engineering to publishing. They have now expanded their efforts to include terrorism and are attempting to breed the perfect weapon.

Despite years of training and enough money from her live-in pack of misfits to finance a small country, Alex finds herself woefully unprepared to tackle the new threat. To make matters worse, Alex must work with a mysterious man who's been trying to kill her since the day they met. Together with her pack, Alex must learn how to stop the biological cloning and find those responsible for the plan before it really does become a global threat.

"Stacy Mantle's 'Shepherd's Moon' is a rousing new addition to the fantasy field. Not only does the author speak with authority when it comes to the animals in her book (both natural and supernatural), but she has created a main character who is engaging and real, and who I can't wait to follow from here...especially after that ending!"

Shepherd's Moon moves the genre of urban fantasy forward with a strong female protagonist, a fast-moving plot, and a pack of dynamic characters you can't help but fall in love with! Personally, I can't wait for more. If you're looking for a book that's action-packed with rich, memorable characters, Shepherd's Moon is the one to read.

Fast-paced and enthralling, this book sucked me in, chewed me up and spit me out of its world all too quickly. I was hooked from the beginning and more than pleased by the unexpected layers of myriad mythologies intricately woven together. I thought this book had a great plot and compelling character arcs and I just want more, more, more! This was a fantastic start to what I believe is the beginning of an incredibly satisfying series.

I have never read a book in this genre, but found this book fascinating. It's very well written and provides excitement right from the beginning to the end. Following a young woman's experiences trying to coping with her special skills provides constant entertainment. The action sequences are very believable and do not resort to the usual sex, etc. to keep you interested. Just good old fashioned adventure with incredible characters. Great Reading! Can hardly wait to read the next book from this

Wow! Stacy Mantle! Wow!

This is not one of my favorite types of books because I find that most authors become overly gory or too centered on sex scenes which can become very old very quickly. Shepherd's Moon had me riveted from page one. With awesome characters, the perfect amount of action, and the perfect amount of relationship description, I absolutely loved the rhythmic flow of this book. If it weren't for everyday chores and a business to run, I would have read this book from cover
