Mimi Barbour lives on the beautiful east coast of Vancouver Island and writes her paranormal romances with tongue in cheek and a mad glint in her eye. Asked why she prefers romantic suspense, she answers, chuckling,
"Because it's fun! Imagination can be a lot more interesting than what happens in real life to so-called normal people. I love my characters, and my goal is to make the readers love them also. To care about what happens to them while the tale unfolds. If I can steal my booklover's attention away from their everyday grind, absorb them in a fictional world, and make them care about the ending, then I've done my job."

Another action-packed book in this series! I enjoyed reading this book. It has great characters and plot. It contains several different types of crime, romance, family, happiness and loss. Like the first book in this series, this book held my interest all the way through. I loved the banter back and forth between Finnegan and his dad, The O’Reilly. I was cheering on Renee, who is a tough cop. Finnegan was a great hero in this book. I was surprised at where the help came from for Renee in the end. I would recommend this book.

Special Agent Finnegan is the second book in the author’s Undercover FBI series. Not having read the first book, I found that this one is easily read as a stand-alone. Finnegan decides to stop taking undercover cases with the FBI after his father’s heart attack. A heart attack that was brought on by Special Agent Finnegan getting shot. His boss has one more case for him which requires him to have a wife. Renee’s Uncle Jack runs the agency that Finnegan works for and is brought in to act as Finnegan’s wife for his last case. As a NYC cop, she uses disguises to do her job and no one really knows what she looks like. The storyline was good – Irish pubs, Irish agents, and lots of suspense and action. I enjoyed the pairing/dynamic of Renee and Finnegan together. It had the perfect balance of comedy and suspense, though the entire book. The banter between the two was witty and funny, something I enjoy in a good book. However, I found the sequence of events a little predictable. I really enjoyed the character of Finnegan’s dad, The O’Reilly. The guy was a hoot! He really was the standout character within the entire story. I can just picture him behind the bar, dishing out stories and advice to his patrons. Overall, this is a good story that had great chemistry between the characters. Would I want to read more from this series? I’m still on the fence about that. *I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Coming from opposite ends of the spectrum, Finnegan, an FBI agent on leave after being shot is taking care of his father's bar after his father's heart attack, and Renee, a New York city cop, working undercover at a college to nab a serial rapist, these two meet in the middle in an attempt to set-up killers for hire.  Renee, insisting to an old family friend (Finnegan's boss) that her father would never have committed suicide, threatens to investigate herself if something isn't done.  I loved the fact that Renee wore so many disguises no one knew what she really looked like.  Finn and Renee keep running into each other for brief periods of time increasing the level of sexual tension.  Finn, struggling with his future plans which might not include the FBI, is flung into this investigation as the only lead seems to be his father's pub.  Brought together in a joint investigation, our couple develops a plan to trap the killers.  The plot, and sub-plot, were well done, a few nice twists really upped the overall suspense level.  The writing was enjoyable making this a very easy read.  The characters were very engaging, and the secondary characters, especially Finn's dad, were well-fleshed out.  Except for Finn's boss' boss (the big boss), I found his one appearance a little out of whack, and his anger over the top.  It just took me away from the story for a couple of minutes trying to figure out what his problem was.  On the whole, a well-written, fast-paced, romantic suspense story.  I think the way the plot and characters were fleshed out took this from a four star to five star book for me.  Let me just add to those who are looking for it, there is no graphic sex in this novel.   I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

5 star I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and the story kept you interested. The story has laughs, suspense, murder, and heartbreak. This is Renee and Finn’s story. Renee and Finn are working undercover to catch a killer. Can they play the part of husband and wife and not get involved with each other? With the personal reasons that Renee is in on this investigation can she set aside those feelings and solve the case? Or will try both get hurt by the killer in the end? The back and forth with Finn and his father is funny. The chemistry between Renee and Finn is great. Love all the different disguises that Renee has via her wigs. All in all I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book.

~Received For Honest Review~ Need a good book to snuggle in for the night with? Well guess you better get a copy of this one right here. Well written, fast paced and will grab hold of your attention. Many of times, I'd tell myself just a little more than I would shut down for the night, not with this one. You start, you're likely to finish in one sitting!

If you like romantic suspense then this book is for you. Finnegan a Special Agent for the FBI, shot earlier in the line of duty and Renee a NY City Cop known for her undercover assignments must work together to find the killers who set up their murders to look like suicides. Renee has a deep interest in finding these criminals. Her father was one of their victims, she just needs to find the proof. Family. an Irish Pub and Renee's past has Ms Barbour weaving a sexy suspenseful story.
