Meet the Author

I'm Val Griswold-Ford, a dark fantasy writer who dabbles in all sorts of things, from epic fantasy to horror to paranormal romance. My first novel, Not Your Father's Horseman, was released by Dragon Moon Press in July 2005. It made ForeWord Magazine's finalist list for the Best Fantasy novel of 2005 and started the Apocalypse Cycle. I write about my version of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the StarChild and the Elemental Lords that populate my alternate Earth.

I'm also intensely interested in ghost stories of all stripes, and have a universe full of ghost hunters that I wander through. Hopefully, there will be more news on the Pendragon stories here in the future.

There's also the non-fiction -- I contributed to Alchemy with Words: The Complete Guide to Writing Fantasy, and edited the two following books.

And I dabble -- there really isn't a genre I'm not interested in. (Okay, maybe splatterpunk. Or hard sci-fi -- but that's because my science skills aren't up to the task, and that could change.) You never know what might show up here, especially in the freebies section.

Check back often -- I'll be adding new stuff monthly, especially once I start the podcasts. The blog is updated daily, sometimes more. Or email me -- I love to talk to folks.
