The story starts quickly with strong action and keeps moving straight to the end. Even the calmer, emotional scenes keep the story moving, something that’s not always easy to do. It’s an exciting read, well constructed with strong Christian themes, but isn’t preachy at all. It’s there, but it’s not in your face, so in my opinion, those with faith or without will enjoy this story.

This is an excellent book that has stayed with me for days after I finished it. I was surprised to find out that the author is actually Mary Connealy, a Christian romance writer, who uses a pen name for her suspense novels. She did a great job using suspense and mystery. The relationship between the two main characters was a nice touch. The plot was very easy to become involved in, and as a mystery, it kept me guessing. The book has a Christian theme so you get the whodunit without all the gore. I really enjoyed it.

Contains such a different and interesting plot that when I just read the back of the book I felt the need to have it & read it! I finished reading it and I wish I could make a movie of it or make everyone read it ! I'm now trying to find some books like this one or from the same author but I think there's not too many articles about her.. I wish I could find her or know more about her. GREAT BOOK. You just GOT to read it !
Suspense, drama, love, passion, mercy.. everything in one book. And trust me, I have read many books.. THIS IS NOW MY FAVORITE :D

This is a perfect Christian suspense for those of us who enjoy the thrillers without the steam or the gore.

It is a suspense romance taking place in Chicago. Keren Collins is a Chicago police detective and Paul Morris is an ex-cop turned Pastor of the Lighthouse Mission. When Keren Is on a stake-out for a missing woman she sees Paul run up to the building and into the group of gang members. She has to wait on her partner before leaving her car, Mick O'Shea. When the building suddenly blows up Keren goes into action helping the kids outside and she sees the other man helping as well. It ends up the explosion and her stake-out are connected to the same woman. Paul had been arrogant as an Officer and Keren has bad feelings towards him but now they must work together as a madman has decided to play out the ten plagues of Egypt and with each plague is another gruesome murder. As a Christian Keren works to get along with Paul. When he is in Pastor mode she is fine, when he gets his cop persona it reminds her of the damage he did years ago. Paul struggles to control his anger through out the investigation. He left the force because of who he had become. A man so involved in his work that he lost his wife and daughter, first by separation and than by death. Keren has a gift that she has kept secret since she was teased as a child and after her fiance thought she was too odd for him and broke off their engagement. She can sense spirits. Especially demons. And this man who is committing these murders is a man full of deep evil. Keren and Paul work together to catch this madman before it's too late for his next victim, especially since he has set his sights on making Keren one of them. Mary Nealy is the pen name for Mary Connealy's suspense books. Mary's westerns are so full of humor that I was really impressed at how different this book is from her others and yet so intriguing and a great story. **Received through NetGalley for review.

Ten Plagues by Mary Nealy is a Christian thriller that takes place in Chicago. A serial killer was on the loose, and he needed to be stopped before he reached ten, the number of plagues in the Old Testament against Pharaoh. The two main characters, Detective Keren Collins and ex-cop turned preacher Paul Morris, have a past and were reunited to solve this crime. The killer was well versed in Biblical Scripture, and he was using Paul as his herald to deliver messages, which end in disaster. As the FBI became involved in the crimes, they came to the conclusion that it was someone who Paul arrested or who wanted to rescue him. Whoever the demonic person was, it seemed he had a vendetta against Paul and was intent on killing people close to him. He somehow had a continuous eye on Paul, seeming to track his every move, and now Keren's, as well. Keren has a spiritual gift of feeling evil in a person and knew Paul was slipping back into his old personality as a former cop, could they solve the crime?
I found this book a little slower to read than most books. It was easy to get into, but then it started to drag. The suspense and whodunit part, was good. The relationship between the two main characters was rushed. They had a strong attraction after only a few days and yet, they seem to be at each other's throats all the time. The plot was very easy to become involved in, and as a mystery, it kept me guessing. The book does have a Christian theme and quotes verses throughout which is a plus. I have to note that the book I read is the unedited edition so I could not count the errors in my rating.
