Library Journal - Library Journal
This is an introductory sourcebook divided into four sections--astronomy, weather, aviation, and space. A brief essay introduces the subject area; associated articles provide additional background. But the main value of this catalog lies in its listings of sources of further information, ranging from career information and major air and space museums to telescope buying guides and space souvenir suppliers. As such, this is complementary to The Space Almanac ( LJ 10/1/89), although its broader coverage should make this more popular with readers. Not an essential purchase, but buy where patron demand warrants.-- Thomas J. Frieling, Bainbridge Coll., Ga.

YA-- A comprehensive guide to the limitless heavens. Four major sections cover astronomy, weather, aviation, and spaceflight with useful information about organizations, products, and other resources available to beginners and experts. Also included are some short essays on a variety of related topics, such as ``How to Choose a Telescope,'' ``Chasing Tornadoes,'' and ``Space Spin-offs.'' Numerous photographs and sidebars briefly explain such concepts as archaeoastronomy, distances in the universe, and how to become a pilot. The book is entertaining for the nonscientifically focused and a treasure trove of information for enthusiasts; it should provide science-project ideas. Addresses of various agencies and corporations to contact are included. --Dorcas Hand, formerly at Episcopal High School, Bellaire, TX
Divided into sections on astronomy, weather, space flight, and aviation, this delightful excursion covers events and places to visit, resources, and products from binoculars to boomerangs, flight simulators to flight suits. Interspersed are interesting and curious facts about a variety of related subjects. Thoroughly illustrated, and appropriate for science enthusiasts of any age and background. Annotation c.
