In most of our minds, as we look back at WW II, we think primarily of our involvement, contributions and sacrifices. As I continue through this third volume of Churchill's recounting of WW II, I find that much of the history I learned, sadly neglected the British perspective, achievements and sacrifice. I find it fascinating to look at the beginning of this global conflagration and how Britain stood, basically alone in it's fight against the Axis powers. With limited help from the U.S. they managed to hold their own against the expanding, engulfing thirst for world domination of one man. From Churchill's notes and correspondence, one sees their daily struggle to stay a step ahead of the Axis; one feels the sense of angst as decisions were made that put many in harms way with the hope and belief that their sacrifice would save Britain, their fellow countrymen, women and children from utter domination and destruction. A read well worth your time and investment.
