This book is annointed because it is written from the heart. This is a fast paced first person account of a survivor, straight out of the mean streets of the east side, Every and Any City, in California. Some survivors it would seem are the recipients of dumb luck. This one has a message that hits you straight in the heart. Fast paced from start to finish, some books just stay with you after you read the last page. This is such a work and it is hard to put this testimony down, it is a page turner. The Last Street Fighter explains with clairity the progression of youth violence from one who was there when the fist fighting ended and the shooting began. This is done in a unique way, in the form of a true story. Gen X is unique in that they were a witness to the before and after of these post modern serious issues. The trends start there in California, so yeah these issues are coming to a neighboorhood near you, soon, if not already. This is just a good book and would interest anyone who cares about young people period.

I finished this book in five days and could not put it down, for this reason I give it five stars. The Last Street Fighter for me answered more questions then any other work I have read in this genre. It is unique in that it explains the progression of lethal youth violence in a way that I have not heard before. In the from of a true story. It does a good job of walking you in the shoes of a young street fighter at a time in history, in trend seting Califronia, when the fist fighting ended and the shooting began. It also explains all the social issues at the time that pushed the envelope to the gunfire that we see today and have seen ever since. This book is deep, with redemption and positive take away. I applaud this work and recommend it to the young and any one who cares about young people

Realistic non fiction. No fictionalized over blown, studio gangster stoner stories. It went down like this back in the day, and Normis is the first one I have heard break down how the change occured from fighting to shooting. He has done this in a uniques way, in a true story at a personal level. Normis has defied stereo types in telling the truth, these problems are everywhere and everyones. The media wants you to believe these are just minorites problems as they continue to only perpetrate stereo types. The Last Street Fighter shatters those stereo types and gives you a glimpse into why prisons are full of white men. (They start in their youth.) The Last Street Fighter is bigger than a people at risk story, it communicates a generation, culture and country at risk in these violent times. It breaks down when, why, where these trends strated and how we got where we are today.

'In 'The Last Street Fighter', Mr. Normis gives his readers a firsthand view of what it was like growing up in the less than desireable neighborhoods of L.A. His courage is to be commended. He portrays the fight-to-survive life to perfection. I believed that using his fists to protect himself and his family became a necessity ... the writing is sound.' 'I am most impressed with the author's passion ... This is a well written book that allowed me into the world where I have never set foot. The author's faith shines through, from the crosses on the cover to the inside pages.'

This book is fast paced, it starts out at 100 mph and ends at 120 mph. This is a well written work that is honest, sincere and has a message. I know that things went down like this as the author and I are about the same age however, I have not read anyone break it down like this. The Last Street Fighter tells the story of our generation X in the form of a true story at a personal level.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I got caught up into the young man's struggle. I was afraid for him when his life became threatened and he was in trouble with rival gangs. I cared about him and the dangers he encountered. I was routing for him all the way. When he turned his life around through prayer, I realized this was an important book, a 'change you life' kind of book. I recommend this book for its valuable content, and because it's a darned good read.

Although I know that gang activity is alive and well in our neighborhoods, to live it through the words and experiences of the author was just phenominal. Only God saved the young man in this true story from prison or death. This book will make a big difference in many lives. I recommend The Last Street Fighter to young people and adults, alike. There is value in it for both age groups, and it is defiintely a good read.

Griping, fast paced and powerful. The author does a good job of breaking down the historical progression of youth violence in trend seting California. He managed to do this all in a way I have not heard before, in the form of a true story. A true story and testimonial with redeeming take away. For me it answered what, when, where and why we have come to the point of fist fighting to shooting.
