Overview

Newly retired from a rewarding career in mental health services, Elaine appeared to have it all. Nestled in a comfortable lakeside home in Ontario's boreal forest, with strong roots in her community, Elaine's life was seen as one of achievement, love and abundance, however emptiness haunted her. She felt she had missed out on something important in life, but could not identify what that was. Close to desperation, Elaine longed and prayed for illumination and the aliveness of her true, authentic self.

Quite unexpectedly, Elaine met an Intuitive through whom she began a healing journey, with two Spirit Guides, Nathan and Mother - Ascended Masters who once walked the earth, and who lovingly began teaching Elaine how to reclaim her life.

She learns, through the most challenging yet exhilarating conversations with the Teachers, that she is perfection, created to love and express herself fully in the world. Nathan and Mother teach her about Unfoldment: the process of discovering and allowing all aspects of the Self to emerge and be celebrated.

Written in an endearing format with plenty of humour, The Unfoldment pulls the reader into this vigorous exchange, offering twelve dynamic teachings and concrete applications for living the life you have always desired to live!

CHAPTER 1

Heart's Desires

You will hear your fears in your mind and they will be like the wind blowing behind you. You are to not pay even the slightest bit of attention, but to keep moving forward in the passions that call your heart. ~ Nathan

Back at home after my deeply fulfilling trip west, I did not want to give free reign to my desire to move away and live a life I truly wanted. I attempted to convince myself that life was okay the way it was. There was something uncomfortable about that, though. Restlessness clawed just beneath the surface, indicating life was not okay the way it was and that I was yearning for something different. Yet I was lacking in boldness and courage - or perhaps the vision I needed to shake up the mediocrity of my life and move forward.

It was around this time that Nathan began to teach me about recognizing and pursuing my heart's desires. It seemed like a foreign concept to me. I have often heard the term living from your heart's desires; however I did not really think it applied to me. I somehow imagined that only those who were outwardly successful were capable of living from their heart's desires. I was therefore immediately drawn to Nathan's teaching.

It is to allow yourself, within your being, the greatest amount of gratitude possible to allow yourself to feel and to know and to taste and to sense and to be everything that you know is in your heart, without allowing yourself to edit and without allowing yourself to withdraw due to fears and anxieties. It is to allow yourself a complete play in that area. And then it is to allow the self to move that of spirit, forward.

'This is what I see, spirit, because I know it is the truth that you have called upon, for me. This is my mission. This is my love. This is my coin. This is my life.'

You acknowledge the receipt of that and you allow yourself to breathe and to be every bit of that, within your being. And you allow yourself to move slowly as a walk in the direction of which you know, and to follow every coin and every bit that brings you to that place of who you are within yourself, without hesitation, and without denial of who you are.

You will hear your fears in your mind and they will be like the wind blowing behind you. You are to not pay even the slightest bit of attention, but to keep moving forward in the passions that call your heart. You are to take yourself out into the world and to fill your heart completely full with those of others, as well, for you cannot have abundance of coin, or of love, unless you are connected to your fellow human.

I was moved by Nathan's appeal to embrace gratitude for that which my heart truly desires. I thought back to Nathan's previous teachings in which he stated, "Gratitude calls forth the energies of the sacred, brings forth a cleansing of the shadows and brings forth the only truth: love." I could see the key role of gratitude in opening the door to love, and to the truest expression of myself. I concluded that if I was hesitant in knowing my heart's desires, living in "the greatest amount of gratitude possible to allow yourself to feel and to know and to taste and to sense and to be everything that you know is in your heart" would create a connection or even a pathway to what I wanted to know and live.

Nathan's words stirred something inside me. I wanted to know my heart's desires, yet I was shy to bring them to light. Nathan knew exactly how I needed to proceed, and he continued.

You will make a list for me of your twelve deepest desires. They will be raw, and they will be truthful. You will be vulnerable, you will be animated, and you will not be edited by your fears. And you will, for seven days upon your rising and upon your sleep, read and feel and taste and be and know every one of them. And when you are awake in your world of play, you will be in constant awareness and search and activity, not for the actual wording or precise demonstration but for the spirit of the energy of what you have desired. 'Tis not to look for the item -'Tis to look for the spirit.

You will become aware of two things: the miracles in your life that await you, and the fears that restrain you. As a result, you will know precisely what it is you want to let go of, in order for your life to be precisely as it is to be. You will hold yourself strong. Do you understand?

"Yes," I replied, "However, I just have one question. Are my deepest desires supposed to relate to work that I am supposed to do in life?"

"Did I ask for that?" Nathan enquired.

"No."

"Then? There is the mind beginning to look for boxes."

"You're right! You're right!"

"Trying to find a way to do it right, trying to find a way to find approval, trying to find the usual path - this is the way the human mind thinks. It is not special to you."

"Yes, yes."

"Unbridle yourself," Nathan said.

"Okay, I will do this," I said.

"We will gather again and you will tell me what has happened."

After my session with Nathan, I realized I had never expressed my dreams or heart's desires on paper. I had never decided to share with the divine (or anyone, for that matter) what I longed for. I seemed to focus much more on what was not going right, or what I didn't want, rather than on what I wanted.

Consequently, I hesitated, and it took a few days to begin what I was asked to do. Knowing I would be reading the list of my heart's desires at our next session, I vowed to complete it, no matter what. Promptness was not always my strong suit!

I sat down by myself on a comfy couch in the living room, early in the evening, determined to compose my list. But no sooner had I begun, than I encountered a barrier. I absolutely did not want to write down my heart's desires, and felt foolish about tackling the list.

Then I thought, what the heck is this? Why would anyone not want to write their heart's desires when lovingly invited to do so by a gentle, benevolent presence in their lives?

With that realization I mustered up my courage and with renewed resolve tapped into my heart. This did not always come easily, because of the many judgments at home in my mind. Just as I began to open up to something I really wanted to bring forth in my life, an automatic clamp seized me. The clamp seemed to say, 'How dare you desire that?' or 'Who do you think you are?' I had to be strong and push beyond it.

Bit by bit, I wrote the list of my heart's desires. At first I felt shy and hesitant to do so. Then I felt a little burst of excitement and some enthusiasm. I proceeded with my list and at times would negate things, feeling foolish, especially when I wrote about longing to go up in a hot-air balloon. Once I managed to proceed with the list, I gradually unleashed myself.

Upon completing the list, I felt energy well up within me, and it almost took my breath away! This excitement and arousal coursed through my body with such vigor that I became completely engaged in what I was thinking about, writing about, longing for, and recognizing as the desires of my heart. I felt so enlivened, so delighted, and so drawn into the moment, that I got up and half-walked, half-danced around my living room to release some of the energy.

And that energy was evocative! It was as if my whole being was absorbed in calling forth the fulfillment of my heart's desires. I was completely astonished and overjoyed by experiencing a sense of bliss that I had never encountered before, in even remotely considering what my heart longed for.

I had a list of twelve desires in front of me and felt a huge sense of accomplishment. I wanted to continue to kick up my heels and, at the same time, to settle down, because I was not sure what to do with this powerful, exciting, overly joyous energy within my body.

As agreed upon, at the next session, I was asked to recite my heart's desires. Nathan asked me to begin halfway down my list. He explained

Do know that I know what you have written. I have asked you to speak, so that you may enunciate that which is important to you. Do not hide, nor filter from me. You will speak to me as if I am your heart, because I am. 'Tis only love I have for you, as I have for all your nation. Begin.

I stated rather tentatively, "Number six: To earn ample income so as to have the money I need to live an enjoyable, well-rounded lifestyle. Keep going?"

"Nay!" he exclaimed. "Explain to me what that is. I do not understand. Read it to me again, slowly."

"To earn ... ample income ..."

"Cease! What is 'ample'?"

"Enough."

"What is enough?"

"To be able to meet your financial requirements, and to do what you would like to do and be able to pay for it."

"What is it you want?"

"I would like greater mobility. I would like to see more of the world."

"What is it you would want? Why is it a human will ask only for the scraps, when there is an abundant feast waiting? Why is it a human will only ask for the basics when there is a world ahead of them, in front of them, and with them? If you lay a fish in front of the bird, will he take only the fin?"

"No!"

"He will take the entire fish, and he will not worry if he has taken too much. It is his fish, is it not?"

"Yes."

"I have laid before you a fish. It is your life. You are able-bodied and fully skilled, filled with love, and the reputation as such that you are very admired. 'Tis for you to take that fish and say, "It is mine!"

"Should I be asking all this of The Divine?"

"What were your instructions?"

"To write a list of my twelve heart's desires."

"Did I say to ask twelve things of The Divine?"

"No ... ah, no ..."

You were asked to write twelve things that your heart desires. These are which you desire. Where is it that the divine was asked to provide? It is not for you to ask The Divine, but it is for you to awaken within you the spirit of the dreams that you have. When you live within the spirit of the knowing of the dreams that you have, you have aligned your spirit with that of which you call the divine. The energy of the divine will provide the right and perfect soil to plant the seed. The thoughts will be given to a higher source.

Then it is for you to cultivate. It is for you to care for and weed your garden. It is for you to take it forward.

When you ask for 'ample,' the universe has no understanding, but when you ask the universe for a magnitude of seed, perhaps you place a number, then the higher source says to you, 'I understand and I will place these seeds.' It is for you to join your spirit with that of the higher source, and to cultivate and to weed, and to assure that your spirit's energy and that of your mind remain pure with your Source, and then to move your body in that direction. And somewhere within the human mind, it is thought that if I put forth a desire it is for the divine to hear and answer and place it in front of me. 'Tis not so.

This is how the miracles occur in your world. This is how those who have a magnitude of abundance have so. You wish to travel, so you tell the divine, 'I wish to go here and there and here and there. 'Tis my calling.' You feel it within your very soul. You breathe it within your breath. Every step you take is a step upon the soil you desire to take it on. You live it, you breathe it, and you know it. And when you are there, it is also for you to look at the pathway to make it so. It does require work and it is there that the humans are afraid. They look upon themselves saying, 'It is I who shall have to work toward this? I am not worthy. It is The Divine's fault. Shame on The Divine.'

Do you understand?

"Yes, I understand more-so now."

"Good. Begin again and include the concepts with which I have just refreshed your teaching."

"I just need two seconds to think about this."

'Tis quite comical to ask a spirit to be on hold."

"I'm sorry ... to earn ... um ... to earn ... I'm sorry ... so sorry, oh my gosh ..." At that point I was suddenly overcome with emotion and tears filled my eyes. For whatever reason, I burst into a sob and then another and another.

"It is for you to take a breath. Inwards ... and release. We will not go into an understanding of your condemning yourself. Breathe once more ... 'Tis good, good."

"Okay, I think I can do it now."

"Begin."

"To earn at least $200,000 per year so I can live an enjoyable, well-rounded lifestyle, and travel to the places I want to visit each year."

"'Tis a beautiful, beautiful understanding you have applied."

"Thank you!"

"You can feel that within yourself?"

"Yes, it feels better."

"And you understand what it would take to go there?"

"Yes!"

"Make that happen for you. It's but a small amount in the world that awaits you. But you have every calling within yourself to travel where you want. You will expand upon that, and when we meet again you will tell me exactly where you wish to travel, and from where you will find that coin."

"Yes, yes I will do that."

"Do you see how empowering that is to your spirit?"

"Yes, very much so."

You released your fear that wanted to overcome you, and have you in a tantrum. You released the part of yourself that was in confusion, and you released the part of yourself that struggled with your words, and you grasped your spirit. 'Tis not an exercise in achieving, through visualization, a monetary amount. It is expression of the spirit. It is completely different. Do you understand?

"I understand more about aligning with spirit, but I am not sure I have the whole thing yet."

"That is okay. That is why you are human! Have compassion.

Tell me your first item."

"The first one on the list is: 'To go for a delightful ride in a hot-air balloon!'"

"'Tis a word I have never heard before."

"May I tell you what it is?"

"That would be of interest."

"Do you know what a balloon is?"

"Nay."

"Okay, well to begin with, there is a large – do you know what a basket is?"

"Nay."

Oh dear! A container for ... imagine a small container for you and me and someone else to stand in, but we could see over the edge. It's not as big as a room. It's small, like a box, but made up of stronger material, and there's a little - Oh dear! There's a connection in there to something that's called a balloon, which is fired with helium, a gas. And it takes you up into the sky, not like the bigger planes, but it takes you up for a gentle ride over the fields. You're in a basket with a big, big balloon, like a ... oh for goodness sakes!

I was now giddy with laughter!

"'Tis like a bird in flight."

"Yes, like a bird in flight, but in a gentle way. It is not as high-powered as airplanes that we have."

"You humans are most entertaining! 'Tis quite a feat. I would like to observe one day. Do you see how your explanation is succinct and precise, and awakens within you a passion, that you will even take time to explain to your Teacher the complexities?"

"Yes, of course."

"It is for you to understand the dynamic here. You feel it within yourself as a truth. It is a lighted passion within you. It is the desire that even within your soul you understand, so much so that you would like to take me with you."

"Yes!"

"Now, you take that information that you feel there and speak to me of the coin again, please."

"Okay! To earn $200,000 per year (with emphasis) so I have the money I need to live an enjoyable, well-rounded lifestyle including all the travel around the world that I want."

"Do you feel the same passion that you do for the floating device?"

"Yes, yes I do!"
