Overview

Lesbian. Bisexual. Queer. Transgender. Straight. Curious. This book is for everyone, regardless of gender or sexual preference. This book is for anyone who's ever dared to wonder. This book is for you.

There's a long-running joke that, after "coming out," a lesbian, gay guy, bisexual, or trans person should receive a membership card and instruction manual. This is that instruction manual. You're welcome.

Inside you'll find the answers to all the questions you ever wanted to ask: from sex to politics and hooking up to stereotypes, coming out, and more. This candid, funny, and uncensored exploration of sexuality and what it's like to grow up LGBT also includes real stories from people across the gender and sexual spectrums.

You will be entertained. You will be informed. But most importantly, you will know that however you identify (or don't) and whomever you love, you are exceptional. You matter. And so does this book.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

"[This] irreverent, informative handbook offers a wide-ranging overview of gender identity, sexual orientation, coming out, dating, and more." - Publishers Weekly

From the Publisher - AUDIO COMMENTARY

"[A] witty, no-holds-barred look at the LGBTQ experience . . . An insightful option for those with questions about what it's like to be LGBTQ." —School Library Journal

NOVEMBER 2017 - AudioFile

Dawson provides a sincere support book on understanding and accepting gender and sexual identities that is useful for parents, adults who work with youth, and the youth themselves. Narrator Christopher Solimene's delivery is gentle and inviting, the exact kind of voice listeners need for the sometimes complicated and uncomfortable conversations the audiobook guides them through. However, that approach is also production’s weakness. Early on, his deliberate and emphatic voice sets the right tone, but after the first hour, listeners may experience audio fatigue as his tone begins to sound condescending. Happily, Solimene does deviate from this approach with a more candid voice when quoting from the various people Dawson interviewed for the book. L.E. © AudioFile 2017, Portland, Maine
