I wasn’t sure I’d ever escape the prison he’d skillfully crafted from my fears.

Until the day our savior arrived.

This book picks up exactly where the first one left off. In that scene, it seems like everything is over, but there’s really so much left to figure out. Clare really caught my attention in the first book so I loved getting to know her on a deeper level in this one. I liked all four of the main people, but she’s the star in my opinion. The men are very sexy and alpha. The women are easy to empathize with and love. Transfer delivers the suspense. The villain is totally evil and really works over the readers hate emotion. The showdown is a doozy so be prepared. There’s romance, revenge, fear, pain, joy and a bit of everything inside.

This book, just like Retrieval, had me on my toes!! The only reason it took me so long to finish it was because I didn't want to finish it lol. You get a better look at Clare in this book. You see how strong she gets because of Heath. You watch her find herself again. You also watch her fall in love. Heath is the protective guy that any girl would be lucky to have. He loves Clare and I'm sure he always has. He also loves Tessa, which is a bonus. Everyone goes through so much during this book. It definitely ended the way I wanted it to. I honestly had a feeling that Aly was going to leave it on a bad note!!!

Book 2 did not disappoint and had me glued to the pages! We met all the characters in book 1 so book 2 is the rest of the story between these 2 couples. I don't post spoilers in my reviews so this review will be difficult lol The scene and drama and excitement that is started in book one is finished in book 2. Secrets come to life, lies unfold and truths come out. The excitement builds as these two families fight for what is theirs and also what belongs to someone else. I love how close everyone becomes and the family connection in this series. The men are alpha plus and so so hot lol. The ladies are strong and honest but still fragile. If you're looking for something a little different with that alpha male sexy romance with a twist of drama then this series is definitely for you!

Loved it. The first book was more intense, but the intensity ratcheted up toward the end of this one. Awesome epilogue, too!

“Her smile was one of the world’s best-kept secrets, because if any man experienced on, they would wage wars to hold on to it. It was life changing.” “I’m scared,” I whispered, not sure what else to say. “I’ve got you.” He nuzzled his jaw against the side of my face. “I swear on my life I’ve got you.” Once again, I am going to keep this review 100% spoiler free…. Transfer picks up right where Retrieval left off. Once again, I was sucked into the story and lost in the multiple points of view. This story answered all of my questions and kept me on the edge of my seat. Aly Martinez does not disappoint in this second novel. The Transfer is filled with drama, romance and suspense. Some parts of the story are shocking and will have you asking yourself, “Did this really just happen?” Overall, Transfer was a fantastic conclusion to The Retrieval Series. It is fast paced and will captivate you. It will keep you on your toes right until the very end. And speaking of the end, the end will just leave you breathless….Please. Please. Please do not read any spoilers for this book. As I stated in my previous review for this series, you need to go into it blind and experience it for yourself. I promise the journey will be worth it.

4.5 stars--TRANSFER is the second installment in Aly Martinez’s contemporary, adult RETRIEVAL romantic suspense duology. TRANSFER should not be read as a stand alone as the story line continues and picks up immediately after the events of book one-Retrieval. Told from four first person points of view (Roman, Elisabeth, Clare and Heath) TRANSFER primarily focuses on Clare and Heath (where as Retrieval focused on Roman and Elisabeth): Clare’s rescue and recovery from years of abuse at the hands of her husband; the building of family; and the search for Walt Noir- the number one man on the city’s most wanted list. What ensues is the developing relationship between Clare and Heath, and the integration of a child between two families who share more than a common bond. TRANSFER is a story about survival, domestic abuse, power and control. The reader is pulled into a tragic tale that ends with a happily ever after but the struggle for freedom is a constant battle fearing reprisal and recriminations for daring to walk away. Aly Martinez writes an emotionally charged, heartbreaking and suspense filled story about two couples who are pulled together by a common thread but a thread that is slowly unraveling as their lives begin to implode. The premise is dramatic, intense and intriguing; the characters are passionate and inspiring; the romance is emotional and uplifting- Heath is a remarkable hero whose only sin was to fall in love with a broken woman. The epilogue fast forwards the story five years and we get a glimpse into the future and two very heartwarming happily ever afters.

Transfer by Aly Martinez is the second book in her brand new Retrieval Duet. In the efforts of leaving a completely spoiler free review you will have to excuse any and all vagueness... This is the conclusion to the story began in Retrieval and it is no less exciting for being the completion of the story arc. Much light is shed on people's secrets and lies, the truth comes out and the consequences have to be paid. Once again, Aly Martinez brings her A game to the writing world. Do not read this book without having read part 1, Retrieval first.

Now let me tell you, to say that I needed this book like I needed my next breath, is putting it way too mildly. After the ending of Retrieval literally had me begging for more, I was beyond ready to see get back into this world with both of these couples. I needed to know what this next chapter would bring them, I needed to know what intense twist and emotional turn that next page would bring, and I needed to know how Aly Martinez would bring this unforgettable duet to a close. I went into this book knowing that I would feel every word of it. I went into it all heart first knowing that Clare's story and her emotional journey of escape would make me feel it all, that it would consume me within her struggles, and that it would pull at every ounce of emotion I had as she attempted to escape the hell that was her life. I went into this book knowing it would probably hurt my heart, and expecting it to send those feelings rushing through me like Niagara Falls because this is a book by Aly Martinez, and you just don’t read a book by this phenomenal author. You feel it. You breathe it. You live it. You take it in and you let it consume you with all that it has. And you let it eviscerate you in a way because you know that that’s necessary to be with these characters, to understand them and their stories, and you know that you have to feel it all in order to get those characters where you so desperately need them to be. I don’t know if any of that has ever been more true than what I felt reading Transfer. What I felt for Clare as she attempted to escape from Walter Noir’s evil hand, what I felt for Heath as he struggled with his own feelings, with his own duties, and with his own sense of right and wrong and where that line fell, and what I felt for the two of them as they were thrust together into an unimaginable situation that broke them, that made them, and that showed each other so much about themselves….well what I felt getting all of that is nothing short of everything. That everything was raw. It was real. It was full of vulnerability, openness, and a journey of healing that was hard fought, unforgettably meaningful, and visceral to the nth degree. That everything tore open my heart for both Clare and Heath as they fought for what they both wanted, as they tried to determine what they could and couldn’t have, and as they realized that what they’d always wanted, what they so desperately craved, and what they needed to come full circle was standing there right in front of them. From the very first page of Transfer, Aly Martinez threw me right into the thick of it with these two. She let me experience what it was like for them to realize what was really going on, what they were starting to feel, and what it was like for them to try to handle all of that. She let me feel what it was like for those two to share what they did, what it was like for them to realize that they wanted something more, and what it was like for them to get so damn close to having it all. She let me take in what the events of this book did to them, how it pushed them both, how it brought them both into their own, and how it took them through the ringer a bit, yet at the same time pushed them even closer to where they so desperately wanted and needed to be. Through every single page of this all-consuming story, Aly Martinez put me with them as they fought and simultaneously fell as hard as they both could, and that, well that was nothing short of spectacular

As with Retrieval, I won't rehash the story and would recommend avoiding spoilers at all costs. This is not a S/A and should be read after Retrieval. I enjoyed every single page. It is a really clever plot and the way Aly weaves everything together was great. This story held me captive from page one to the end. The story is beyond engrossing, it was exciting and suspenseful. It packed an emotional punch but was laced with humour at times to cut the drama. This book; this duology was absolutely amazing and easily one of my top reads for 2016. A definite recommendation! I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my God, this book! Actually, this Duet!! It completely blew my mind in the best of ways! Transfer picks up right where Retrieval left off. The author continued to suck me into the story with her creativity and amazing plot. I bounced all over the emotional scale with this one...happy, sad, angry, laughing…all of it. ALL of the characters in this story made an impact on me, even the secondary’s. Heath’s selflessness and devotion to Clare and Tessa knows no bounds. He will do whatever it takes to make sure that his girls are safe and protected. “There weren’t even words to express what a good guy he was. And not just because he was taking care of me and my daughter, but because he found moments to make me forget that I needed anyone to.” Clare and Heath are perfect for each other and I loved how Roman and Elisabeth’s story was still woven into this one. Perfect ending to an amazing story! I’m typically someone that doesn’t go for long series’ but I’m actually devastated that this one is over!!

Holy hell. An epic conclusion that has me cheering loudly. I'm in awe of what Aly Martinez has managed to do in effortlessly combining two couple's journeys into one spectacular story. Certain to be on many best of lists of 2016, no doubt about it. Transfer picks up right where Retrieval left off and this time around the focus is more intense on Clare and Heath. Roman and Elisabeth have found their way back to each other and now with their help, it is the hope that both physical and emotional demons can finally be exorcised from everyone's lives. This foursome has had a rough time digesting everything thrown at them in such a short period of time. But what is the most glorious about this entire saga is that it's the love that continues to see them through. No amount of pain can deter them from grabbing onto that slim chance at happiness, even when it means great sacrifice and separation. Hating to have to be so vague, I just don't want to ruin the nature of this duet. It is such a unique story-line that deserves to be savored without any spoilers. Aly Martinez has given us her all in this one. Her heart and soul has touched every page. The characters are well-written and thoughtful. You can't help but be drawn in by every action, every emotion laid bare by Roman, Elisabeth, Heath, Clare and that scene-stealer in Tessa. It will be tough for the fans to decide who they love the most: Roman or Heath. For me, I'm going with Clare. She blossoms beautifully in this book and becomes the brave warrior, the survivor I always knew she had in her. As much as the men made me swoon and believe me they did and often, to me this was a book written for the heroines. Elisabeth and Clare show strength and grace in the face of endless uncertainty. I cannot recommend this duet highly enough. You will read that last page and will still be clamoring for more. And your heart will be full. Simply superb in every single way. 5++++++++ stars!
