Meet the Author

One day Normandie saw an interview with author Stephanie Meyer, in which Stephanie said that idea for her book, Twilight, came to her in a dream. Normandie determined that she needed to write down her next really good dream. Little did she know that vow would lead her to a career writing erotic fiction.

When she’s not writing, Normandie has a busy life with a large family that relies on her. "There’s always lots to do. I love to cook and bake, and I make a lot – big batches. My husband is an athlete and the boys are too. So they all eat a lot! There’s never a dull moment at our house. Writing is my escape. I sit down with the dog and write while my kids are at school."

Normandie is married to her true love. She appreciates his ability to give her the male perspective on romance. "My husband is probably more romantic than I am, but he’s also a real alpha male. That’s a great combination that inspires me and keeps me on my toes!"

Read an Excerpt

Allison held her plastic cup in a death grip as she absently rattled the ice cubes in it. She stared out of the bubble-shaped window on her flight to Rome. The vodka had done little to calm her nerves. Neither People, Cosmo, nor Vogue had been any help distracting her. Allison’s mind was determined to go back to the one man who had caused her more pain and heartache than she had ever known. The man whom she would soon see for the first time in four years.

She bit her lip and shut her eyes tightly. Allison remembered the day her best friend Marcia had told her that she was getting married in Venice the week of Valentine’s Day. Marcia had asked her to be her maid of honour and Allison had immediately jumped at the chance. She loved to travel, and she wanted to be there for Marcia.

Marcia had been dating Alfonso ever since Allison could remember. The pair had been together since they were kids in grammar school, when Alfonso and his parents moved to Texas from Italy. In fact, Alfonso had lived in the United States so long that no one thought of him as Italian, but the rest of his family was still in Italy.

Marcia had explained that it was a family tradition for them to be married in Venice around St Valentine’s Day. Alfonso was very close with his grandmother, who still lived there, and he wanted to carry on the family tradition for her. Marcia had met Alfonso’s Italian family, and had said that they were wonderful—very hospitable—and had been kind to her.

"His grandmother is so cute and little, but she’s a pistol, you know? Plus he has all these Italian cousins. They’re so handsome and polite. And they really know how to throw a party. I bet the whole time we were in Italy we didn’t sleep a wink! Somebody was always throwing a dinner party, or a lunch, or even a brunch for us. It was wild. And Venice...Oh, Allie, you are going to love Venice!" Marcia had gone on and on, telling her about the sights she’d seen and all of the art that Allison could see if she went. It had sounded like something Allison did not want to miss.

A couple of weeks later, Allison had just walked into her apartment when she’d got a call from Marcia. "Allie, honey, it’s me, Marsh. Are you sitting down? I need you to sit down."

Allison had set her groceries down on the floor and sat.

"Honey, Alfonso has gotten Cole to agree to be his best man," she’d said.

Marcia’s announcement had been met with complete silence.

"Allison? You still there?" Marcia had asked.

Cole. For years Allison had prayed for indifference towards Cole. She had hated him for years. What she felt for Cole was either unmitigated passion or hate. She didn’t know any in between. And what she had wound up craving was indifference. The last time she’d seen him, four years ago, what she had prayed for, what she had begged God for, was to feel indifference towards him. He had almost ruined her life.

"Yes, Marcia, I’m here." Her voice emotionless. Her purse strap had fallen off her shoulder as she’d slumped forward on the chair.

"Well, Allison, I know this is going to be uncomfortable for you, knowing how you’ve tried to put the whole Cole thing behind you, but hopefully you won’t have to see each other very much. I mean it is a large wedding party and all. Alfonso says Cole has a girlfriend. I mean she’s not coming or anything, but...well, what do you think? Will you still be my maid of honour?"

"Of course, it’s fine," Allison had lied, keeping her tone as even as she’d been able.

"I’m so sorry about this!" Marcia had prattled on and Allison had put on a brave face for her friend and pretended that everything would be fine.

Now that she was on her way to Italy, her fears rose to the surface.

It’s fine, she thought to herself sarcastically. That’s why I’m sitting here half-drunk and miserable, worrying about some guy from four years ago. She crossed and uncrossed her legs several times, fractious and annoyed with herself that even thinking about him could still shake her up so much.

Allison Fox had enjoyed being a popular girl for most of her twenty-six years. Her relationship with Cole Street was a source of shame for her, but it was also secretly how she identified herself. While she was ashamed of what she’d put up with for the relationship, who she was when she was with Cole was how she defined herself as a woman in many ways. That made her feel even worse about herself.

    Allison and Cole

I loved the characters! Even though this is a short story, the characters jumped off the page for me. They were well defined that I knew why they would do what they did. Allison was a character that I fell in love with. She wrapped herself around my heart. She felt, to me, that she had not had many men in her life and she needs protecting.

Cole, to me, needs to find himself and I hope there will be more of him in the future. I felt left open for knowing more about him. He was well defined, but I want to know what happened to him.

The story line was a straight shooter and I could follow it very well. I did love the ups and downs that it did take me, as the reader, on. The ending did take me for a surprise, though. I did love it.

This was soft romance with light erotica . I love how detailed it was and how it kept your interest from page one. The main characters in this novel are Allison Fox, Cole, and Nico. Marcia and Alfonso are also mentioned but aren't key to the story, just the setting.

Allison Fox is from Fort Worth headed to Venice, Italy to be the maid of honor in her best friend, Marcia and her soon to be husband Alfonso's wedding. Before heading off to the wedding, she learns her former lover Cole will be the best man. Having to face him after all this time proves to be hard. When she arrives at the airport she is picked up by Alfonso's cousin Nico.

Nico became a workaholic for a shipping company after losing his wife to leukemia. He doesn't think he'll ever be able to find love again so he immerses himself into his work. When he sees Allison approaching him, he is immediately drawn to her. Having a week off from work he offers to take Allison on a tour of Venice.

After their first night spent touring, Nico escorts Allison back to her hotel. She stumbles in a man, coming to realize it's Cole. Cole is very much the playboy. He isn't ready to settle down and commit to one woman. After a night of passion, Allison awakes alone and sad. She discovers a note that is sure to lead to heartache.

Once again, another excellent read from Normandie Alleman. This story was written for the romantic at heart. I found myself rooting for Allison as well as feeling her highs and lows. I could relate to all her feelings in this story. I definitely recommend it!

Hot, sweet, and surprising - loved it! I tore right through this

Hot, sweet, and surprising - loved it! I tore right through this in about two hours - it was a fabulously engrossing read. I loved the flashback hookup scene, and the descriptions of Venice totally transported me there. Allison came across as a believable blend of trusting/sweet and wild/willing. I wasn't sure where the plot was going to go, which made it really fun to read. Cole was a bit of a cad, although a very *hot* cad, and Nico was a lovable dreamboat. The menage scene was believable, too, and super steamy. Yowza! Highly recommend this sweet, erotic love story.

    Engaging Characters!

Venice is the perfect backdrop for Normandie Alleman’s lively and entertaining characters caught in the love triangle in Venetian Love Knots.

Alleman diligently develops three very different characters for this love triangle. Fool-heartedly, Allison, a kind, sensitive, and popular girl, fell in love with Cole, a rodeo cowboy. Cole, always in it for the sex, never allows himself to become emotionally invested. Allison is nervous to be seeing Cole at her friend’s wedding because their relationship had ended dramatically years ago. Nico, a widower, has thrown himself into his work believing that he will never find love again. This love triangle heats up when the three of them meet at a wedding. Even after years of separation, Allison feelings for Cole haven’t changed, and she falls right back into a sexual relationship with Cole when she sees him in Venice. The chemistry between Allison and Cole is scorching hot. Cole likes to dominate in the bedroom, and Allison is more than willing to let him. Unfortunately for Allison, Cole, despite his vows of love, continues to treat her badly outside of the bedroom. On the other hand, Allison and Nico’s chemistry is explosive and meaningful. The author does a brilliant job of showing that Nico’s feelings for Allison are much deeper, both emotionally and physically, making you hope that Allison will make the right decision in order to fulfill her happiness.

Venetian Love Knots delights with its engaging characters and stunning plot twists, which lead to a wonderfully romantic conclusion in Italy’s City of Love.

I received an eBook copy from the author for purpose of an honest review for The Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Exotic Locale Leads to Erotic Fun

Venetian Love Knots is a steamy book set in an exotic location that is enjoyable as long as you think of it as a woman's fantasy. The exotic delights that Allison gets to experience courtesy of Cole and Nico are every woman's dirty little secret and are written with lots of sexual intensity. These scenes are full of BDSM and other erotic play and leave you parched!

As to the individual characters, that's where I was left frustrated. Even though Allison knows Cole is a heartbreaker she keeps going back to him. She constantly gives him control and while it leaves her sexually satisfied, she's left emotionally bereft repeatedly. To keep believing there's more to him than face value will continue to leave her alone. Cole is a womanizer. He really only wants women for the release they give him. He says he can't live without her but actions speak louder than words and that's where he repeatedly fails. Just when the possibility of a future with Allison arises he again runs.......and abruptly drops out of the story to again cement his douchebag persona. Nico is a charming character from the start and is the complete antithesis to Cole. He stands by the women he loves til death do they part and always treats them with respect while still bringing on the sexy.

This story makes for a fast read that leaves your head spinning with its abrupt ending. In a way it feels as though Allison is settling, which makes for a rather uncertain HEA. Though Allison, and particularly Cole, weren't my favorites I found Nico and the city of Venice delightfully romantic and found myself daydreaming whenever they were on the page. Ms. Alleman has created a story that will leave you arguing as to who's the better man and I look forward to seeing more of her heroes in the future.

Are your expectations the same for every author you read? Do you

Are your expectations the same for every author you read? Do you ever discover yourself comparing a debut author with a well established bestseller; are you more forgiving or less strict? I asked myself these questions after issuing this book 5 of 5 mugs – so I let this book/review marinate for several days. As I perused it this morning to ensure I still felt it deserved the highest possible rating, I discovered I was rereading it {when I should have been on to the next book} but, I wasn’t ready to let Allison go yet.

This book is listed as BDSM but, nothing hardcore just some spanking and light bondage.
