USA TODAY BESTSELLER • “Don’t miss this sparkling debut full of heart and emotion!” raves Lori Wilde. The Hero’s Welcome military romance series introduces a small coastal town where America’s best and brightest risk everything for love.

In Seaside, North Carolina, there are two kinds of people: Marines, and kids of Marines. Then there’s Kat Chandler. Recently hired as the principal of Seaside Elementary, Kat makes it her mission to turn the school into a place of peace and calm. That’s not going to be easy with hard-liner parents like Micah Peterson storming in, telling her how to do her job—and then kissing her with those gorgeous lips of his and turning her brain into mush.

As a Marine Sergeant and a single dad, Micah Peterson has just two priorities: doing his job better than anyone else, and getting the absolute best for his son, Ben. But when he meets Ben’s beautiful new principal, a different yearning shifts into focus. He wants her, sure, but he’s also moved by the connection Kat forges with her students. So after learning that she refuses to date Marines, Micah sets two more objectives: convincing Kat to give him a chance . . . and then holding on to her forever.

Rains delivers a wonderfully realistic look at two people whose history makes getting involved quite complicated. Micah is an amazing dad and works really hard to give his son the best life he can (and I have to say Ben is such a bright spot in an already enjoyable book – so sweet, spunky and positive, I think he was my favorite character). Kat has already suffered heartbreak once and isn’t looking to be involved with a marine ever again, but meeting such a devoted dad and stand-up guy as Micah makes it hard to resist. I loved seeing these two become friends and then more. There’s the required troubles between them but they are all handled in a believable manner and never seem to overpower the story. I can’t wait to see what Rains brings us next :) Complimentary copy provided in exchange for an honest review.

In the coastal town of Seaside, North Caroline, Kat and Micah have experienced loss in different ways and both are reluctant to risk their hearts again. Elementary school principal Kat has vowed not to get involved with another Marine and instead focuses all her attention on her job – one made all the more demanding because of those who feel she is too young and too inexperienced. Her best friend encourages her to put the past behind her and meet someone new, but Kat insists she’s not interested. But after meeting the father of one her students… maybe she’s interested after all. Marine Sergeant Micah Peterson is a single dad whose top priority is his 8 year old son Ben. With an ex-wife who is more devoted to the Marines than her own son, and an ex-girlfriend who refused to accept Ben, Micah is determined to set aside romantic involvements and instead focus entirely on Ben and give him the stability he needs. Then he meets Kat, the principal at Ben’s new school, and he wonders if maybe there is room in his life for someone else. Welcome to Forever was an unexpected surprise - emotional, heartwarming and completely engaging. I was pulled into Kat and Micah's story right away. Based on their personal histories, their mutual hesitancy to get involved was completely understandable and believable. They were both treading softly into the possibility of a new relationship and I loved that they acted like adults (and not like hormonal teenagers). I admit that I am not usually a fan of stories that feature a child so prominently, but I totally fell for Ben. This 8 year old charmer was sweet and funny and his devotion to his father and desire to have someone want and love them both just melted my heart. One of my favorite aspects of the story was Micah’s belief in Kat and his willingness to back her up and be there for her. Kat was able to fight her own battles - even though Micah was ready to jump in and go to battle for her. My only quibble were the few inconsistencies in the Marine/military aspects of the story. For a book with a strong military theme, taking place in a military town, these anomalies stood out to me. They will likely go unnoticed by many, but with a husband who is a 20-year veteran, they caught my attention and temporarily took me out of the narrative. I was completely invested in Kat and Micha’s story and, as they faced conflict and unexpected circumstances, I found myself getting emotional even shed a few tears. I highly recommend Welcome to Forever to those looking for a contemporary romance that is realistic instead of angst-filled, with characters who are likable and so deserving of a happy ending.

4.5 - "We're in this together." Stars! Welcome to Forever is the first book I have read by Annie Rains, and I really enjoyed it. Take two characters, both not looking for, but then finding second chance love, add in a really cute child and some entertaining secondary characters and Micah and Kat’s story was one I didn’t want to put down. It wasn’t his head or what was in his boxers that he needed to worry about. His heart was in deep trouble. Although there is a little bit of drama rolling through this one, and some of it erroneously so in my opinion, I think what pulled this book through that and made me fall in love with it was the whole community feel you get from the story and the residents of Seaside, North Carolina. The slow building relationship between Kat and Micah and the hurdles they overcome to be together as the story progressed just added more color to the story as a whole, and just made it easy reading especially as told in both POVs. "No time for foreplay." "There’s always time for foreplay." You can tell this is the first book in the series, with the addition and inclusion of several characters and family members in the overall plot and I am interested to see where Annie takes the Hero’s Welcome series next. We are introduced to Julie and Lawson in this book, and I am looking forward to discovering how their relationship develops in Welcome Home, Cowboy, due for release in April. 4 star The story has laughs, secrets, grief, and heartbreak. This is Kat and Micah’s story. Kat is the principal of Micah’s son’s school. They get off to a rocky start when she help’s his son. But after talking and hanging out they are drawn together. Kat is trying to win over the town and get the kids involved in a new buddy after school program. She is determined to help all the kids in her school. Kat has no idea until Micah shows up in uniform that he is a Marine. She does not want to be involved with a Marine again. But Micah and his son are just too hard to resist. But when Micah is called up for a tour of duty will Kat be able to handle that or will she run? Will these two be able to overcome the past and move on with each other or will this be the end of them? I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I recommend this book.

Wow. I'm still trying to come down from the emotional high this book caused me. It's taken me ages to be able to sit down and write a proper review because, if I'd written it immediately after finishing the book, it would have probably been a jumbled mess of words, exclamation marks, sighs and OMGs here and there. I don't think I've ever highlighted so many great lines (probably since reading Twilight). I honestly still find it hard to believe this is the first book by this author. It's such a great book, and the writing is so good, I couldn't believe this was a debut novel. I really can't wait for the next book to be available! This story is truly beautiful. It's been a while since a book managed to make me feel such a huge array of emotions. I smiled, I laughed, I swooned and sighed. I cried. Not the fat, ugly tears but those emotionally charged tears that reach down into your soul and squeeze, while at the same time leaving you warm and fuzzy. There is heat, yes. But even though I'm the prudish kind of reader, who likes the fade-to-black bedroom scenes better than the graphic ones, I had no problem with the scenes in this book. They are fitting to the story and to the characters, they happen at just the right point in the story and are written in just the perfect way to make them hot but not annoying. So, if you're still wondering whether or not you should give this book a chance, let me tell you something: ONE. CLICK. NOW!! ***I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review***

Format: Galley Copy Kat is a military widow that wants to do as her husband asked before he left for his last tour overseas, become a principal. She works her hardest even though she's the youngest principal to be hired and parents are giving her a hard time. The last thing she needs is to fall for a dad of one of her students and a marine. She swore off military men. Micah has a special needs son and he needs to focus on his son and not the sexy principal that keeps distracting him. He just can't keep himself away. Welcome to Forever is a heartwarming story that had me rooting for Kat to give the naysayers a piece of her mind and stand up for her programs meant to help the kids learn to adapt and learn how to do things that can be useful to their futures. I fell in love with Micah and his love for his son. Though there were some bumps in the road Kat and Micah learned to trust and love again.

*ARC received from Random House Publishing in return for an honest review* This is a great love story. School principal Kat Chandler and Marine Sergeant Micah Peterson both lost lost someone they loved and neither thinks they are ready to to take a chance on love again. Micah's priority is his special needs son Ben, who has already been hurt by his mother's lack of interest, and isn't sure any woman can accept them both. Kat lost her Marine fiance and isn't sure she can handle falling in love with another man in the military but the attraction between them is so strong it can't be denied. Welcome to Forever is a very heartwarming romance and I really enjoyed it.

When I first picked this up, to be honest I decided to put it down because I didn’t really want to read a book which dealt with death. However when I finally picked it up, although it does deal with death, it does not overwhelm the story. Two years ago, Kat lost her fiancée in the war. She continues to deal with this loss by keeping to herself and not dating. Because he was a Marine she did not want to get involved with another Marine. She is afraid of losing her heart again only to have him killed. Kat is the principal at the Elementary school. On the first day of school she meets Ben, a handicapped child and his father, Micah. Micah is instantly drawn to Kat but when he sees the engagement ring he realizes she is off the market. But soon he learns the truth. Kat also learns the truth. While Micah is the school’s groundskeeper he is also a Marine. As Kat becomes more involved with Micah, she slowly begins to put her grief behind her and realize she can have a life again, even if it is with a Marine. Micah was definitely a caring loving father. Ben was very astute for his age. He picks up on his father’s loneliness so he pushed his father to go out with Kat. He believes they belonged together. There were a few errors in this book. While they usually don’t bother me for some reason they seemed to stand out. First the author refers to Sergeant Peterson as an officer. A Sergeant in the Marines is not an officer but an enlisted member. Also not being able to wear his uniform off base seemed inaccurate. While you can’t wear it to certain establishments, you can surely wear it to pick up your child from school. At one point, Kat had taken off her dress, they had sex, and then she put on a T-shirt. Then in the next page Micha was taking her dress off. When did she put it back on? Another instance she took her heels off in the car, yet then on the next page she is pulling them off to run to the house. Also says spent the night in the ER, when in fact spent the unit up on the pediatric ward. Overall, this is a clean book. There is not a lot of cursing, descriptive sex scenes or over the top drama and miscommunication that you find in other books. While seemed a little slow at times, it was evenly paced and had solid storyline. I would continue to read other books by this author.

A debut offering, Annie Rains tackles a ton of emotional triggers in her first in a new series, Welcome to Forever. A former Marine, a dead fiancé, a special needs child and a mother who isn’t going to be getting an award for her parenting anytime soon. To her credit, Rains uses skill and tact, with some well-placed moments with father and child to bring a story that is surprisingly low in the angst quotient despite the potential pitfalls. Kat is an elementary school principal, still not really having dealt with the loss of her fiancé. She’s pouring all of her energy (and avoidance tactics) into her job, working long hours and worrying about staff and students. Even her friends are tiring of her fears about relationships, and have started to push her into dating again, an idea she is refusing. Micah Peterson is a Marine second to being a single-parent caregiver to his son Ben. With his ex-wife more interested in her own life, and an ex-girlfriend who couldn’t deal with his son, he’s not interested in a relationship with yet another woman who will disappoint him or Ben. These two are destined to meet, and Kat’s refusal to date another military man, in a military town is purely foolish. Fortunately, she recognizes something special in Micah, and can’t help but be intrigued. In the most basic way. Micah can’t help but wonder if perhaps there is room in his life for Kat and Ben, and we are off. Slowly, and with many hiccups, these two start to build a friendship that is only hampered by their fears. Ben is completely adorable and the scenes with he and Micah are just precious. There are a few inconsistencies in the military facts, something that I would hope Rains researches before the next story, but these are minor and most likely will pass unnoticed by those not familiar with the rather convoluted rules, regulations and procedures of the military. I would have liked a touch more angst – both characters TELL us repeatedly that they are hurting and have issues (usually in interior dialogue) but we don’t always have the background that would connect us to them in a visceral way. Most importantly, Rains has managed to create a story that will engage readers: we care about Ben, we want to see Kate and Micah get over their fears to grab onto something substantial and you can’t help but cheer them on. A good start to a new series that will please many readers. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Wow this is such a sweet novel that describes the both the highs and lows of military families. The book tells the story of Micah and Kat. Micah Peterson is a divorced single father, who has decided to pursue a landscaping career after his time as a marine is up. His son, Ben, has cerebral palsy is confined to a wheelchair and is starting a new school after being the victim of a bully. His new school is led by Principal Kat Chandler. She lost her fiancee 2 years ago, when he went to war and never returned. She just started her new job and is trying to be good leader. Micah has accepted a part-time position as a groundskeeper at the school, which he does when he finishes on base, as a way to keep an eye on his son. He and Kat get off to a rough start, but soon they become friends. Ben decides that Ms. Chandler would be the perfect wife for his dad, and in best parent trap fashion, does his best to set this match up. Kat and Micah aren't looking for romance, but each realizes that their chemistry is rare and is willing to see where it lead to. Will their romance be able to survive the challenges that face them? I am a new fan of Annie Rains. She has written a realistic book that features a special needs child, a hero with a heart of gold, and a heroine that is strong, but vulnerable. I really liked this book and would recommend it to fans of military romance. I was given a free copy for an honest review by netgalley.com

This book left me with such a big smile on my face! *happy sigh* This is a beautiful debut from Annie Rains. You might know I'm a sucker for a man in uniform, and this series is full of them! Micah Peterson is a Marine and a single father of a special needs child. He'd do anything for his son, even if it means butting heads with the new principal of his son's elementary school, Kat Chandler. Kat has some unusual ideas to help the students at Seaside Elementary, but she believes she can make a difference. Sparks are soon flying between Kat and Micah, but she has a rule: she doesn't date Marines anymore. A few years ago, Kat's fiance lost his life overseas, and she's not ready to open herself up to that kind of heartbreak again. Well, you can guess this leads to all kinds of angst between them! Welcome to Forever had so many heartfelt moments, and I absolutely loved it. If you love small town contemporary romance (especially set near the ocean) and/or military heroes, this book is for you! :)

Welcome to Forever by Annie Rains is a sweet love story taking place in the small military town of Seaside, North Carolina. The heroine, Kat Chandler, is the principal of the local elementary school. Her fiancee died two years ago while serving his country. Kat still wears her engagement ring and dating is not on the top of her list of things to do. The hero, Marine Sergeant Micah Peterson, is also a single dad. His son Ben has cerebral palsy, which is challenging both in and out of the classroom. Micah is a good father and the love he has for Ben is beyond palpable. Kat and Micah are very attracted to each other and over time, they fall in love. I liked this story, however I found the pace to be quite slow and the plot drawn out. The characters are very interesting and I enjoyed reading about their daily lives and the complexities of being a part of the military. Kat and Micah are good together and the author does a nice job of developing their relationship. Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

I LOVED this book!! Micah is a big tough alpha marine but first -always- he's a father and he will do anything to make sure his son has the very best of what he needs. His ex wife is more dedicated to her career than their son so he's on his own when it comes to caring for his son. He's torn though when he meets Kat Chandler, the principal at his son Ben's school. They are a great couple and you can't help but pull for them to make it! This is one I highly recommend.
