Some cowboys are worth getting dirty for.

In her latest adventure, sassy Deputy Laney Briggs discovers the local high school football coach passed out under the stadium bleachers wearing nothing but a smile...and his wife's lingerie.

Things really start to get wild when she runs into the smoking hot Federal Marshal, Colt Larsen, snooping around the Granger's house. Quicker than a cold snap comes and goes in Texas, Laney finds herself up to her eyeballs in a case involving a ruthless motorcycle gang, a Mexican drug cartel, a kidnapping, and a shoot-out to rival the O.K. Corral.

In over their heads, Laney calls in the big guns-her very own Texas Ranger, Gunner Wilson, who's ready to fulfill every last one of her desires. But as things heat up between them, the stakes get higher than ever, and Gunner's help may not be enough for Laney to get out alive...

Life in Pistol Rock, Texas, during fall football mania was busier than the ladies' room at a Luke Bryan concert. My day had started out with Bud Shelton calling the sheriff station at the crack of dawn ranting and raving about some meth head hijacking all the deer corn from his feed store, and from there on it only got worse. After the deer corn emergency, I responded to a domestic dispute out at the trailer park during my lunch and helped direct traffic at an accident outside town on FM 167. Next up was the afternoon soda run because I lost to my partner, Elroy Sampson, at paper-rock-scissors. Finally, I broke up the pregame beer party the high schoolers like to throw in a mesquite grove just behind the football field. I'd done nothing all day but chase down one problem after another. Some days, being the only female deputy sheriff in a small town just sucked ass — and it was about to get worse.

All I wanted to do that October Friday night was sit at Rusty's bar trying to knock the edge off my inconvenient libido. Instead, as I was getting ready to order a beer, my phone vibrated against my butt cheek, letting me know I had a text message. In retrospect I should've waited to read it, but I thought it might be my hunky boyfriend, Texas Ranger Gunner Wilson, sending me something that would make a more modest woman blush. Lately, I'd been really itching to grab, squeeze, and pinch my cowboy's ass-hugging Wranglers. This long-distance relationship thing wasn't really floating my boat. The events that had taken place this past summer still caused me to have trouble getting in a wink of sleep.

Nightmares ... insecurities ... lack of companionship — or whatever the hell you wanted to call them — had been keeping me up at night, channel surfing the home shopping networks or holding down a bar stool at Rusty's. I didn't need to run up my credit card bill any more, and I sure didn't need any more sleepless nights. And sex with Gunner, well ... that had always been a way for us to wash away our troubles. But right now, all I wanted was to be wrapped in my loving cowboy's protective arms until sleep took hold of me. Even though our relationship was rocky on the best of days, he'd always cared ... still did. So Gunner's voice on the phone, or even just him texting me, that might have been enough to get me through the night.

What I got instead was my worthless partner — who, might I add, was competing against me in the Pistol Rock sheriff's race — asking for my assistance. He was out of luck, 'cause I'd just slugged down half a beer. And I was off duty ... although that didn't mean I couldn't go down to the field to witness whatever crazy spectacle he wanted me to see. I pulled a ten out of the back pocket of my jeans and slapped it on the bar, grabbed my straw cowboy hat off the stool next to me, and put it on, adjusting it just so.

"I've gotta run," I hollered over the jukebox belting out Conway Twitty's "Linda on my Mind." I picked at a bit of my auburn hair, shoving it away from my bottom lip, and added, "This should take care of the beer and nachos."

The cooler door slammed shut. A glass bottle smacked the bottom of a tin trash can, and boots scuffed across the peanut shell-littered plank wood floors. Then Rusty Weir, trusty bar owner and Pistol Rock's version of a psychotherapist, leaned across the oak bar. "Leaving so soon, Laney?" he asked, unbuttoning a cuff on his flannel shirt. He rolled up the sleeve and proceeded to work on the other cuff. "I thought you'd be pulling an all-nighter since Gunner is away on a case."

Yep, I always loved to hear reminders of my cold bed. Normally, I wouldn't be bothered by the idea of my sexy Texas Ranger knee-deep in El Paso chasing down leads on Cash Sterling, the man who supposedly had connections or answers to the cold case pertaining to Gunner's murdered parents. But lately, the showerhead and I had gotten a little too friendly. Idle hands, or should I say idle pussies, have a mind of their own. I missed being able to ride my cowboy, satisfy my cravings, and thwart my nightmares all in the same go.

Any day now I was expecting a phone call. At least, I kept my hopes up.

I blew out a sigh. "Elroy just sent me a text to get my ass over to the football stadium. It seems our revered and endeared head coach, Rip Granger, has gotten himself in some shit."

Rusty hunched over the bar on his elbows, smiled, folded the ten in half, and tucked it into the front pocket of his shirt. "You must be thrilled," he said in his hoarse, barroomaged voice.

"Can you tell?"

"It's written all over your face, kiddo."

"I don't know why some people can't deal with their own problems," I bitched.

By way of trying to deal with my own problems, six years ago, I'd capped Gunner in the ass with a round of rock salt, and unfortunately, that caused me to lose my kindergarten teaching job. But since I had an in with the old sheriff, who I'd known since I was a child — he'd taught me how to shoot a pistol when I was ten years old — I'd been able to snag the sweet gig of being a Pistol Rock deputy sheriff. Still not sure if that's working out for me. It's hard learning a new set of ropes. Maybe if our small town hadn't been so cheap and had sent me to a deputy boot camp or something, I'd be faring way better.

"Oh, I hear ya. I hear ya," Rusty answered. "You wouldn't believe the shit folks tell me."

"I've got problems out the ass, and coming here to talk the shit with you is how I deal with them."

Rusty laughed and yanked the towel off his shoulder to wipe down the varnished wooden top. "It's not like you've got anything better to do," he joked.

"Well, I was planning on spending the night on your bar stool with Mr. Shiner." I laughed, knuckle thumping the empty beer bottle in front of me.

"Now that would be the life, but I reckon it'll have to wait for the time being." Rusty slung that beer-soaked dishtowel over his burly shoulder before attending to another customer.

I pushed through the door and planted my boots out into the crisp fall air. Streetlamps loomed over the bare-ass street. Not but a few hours ago, the entire town had been abuzz with football frenzy. School fliers from the football booster club advertising a BBQ fundraiser still littered the gutters. Such was life in a small Texas town during football season. Not even the vacant storefronts had been spared the shoe polish markings of the Rattlers' mascot. Just the sight of it painted on the double-pane windows had my insides coiled up tighter than a rattlesnake. It brought back memories of late-night bonfires after Gunner made the winning touchdown, back when we were in high school. Of being cradled in his arms on his tailgate as we watched the stars appear in a fading sunset. Now, even though we'd decided to give this relationship another go-around, we were still living separate lives. Gunner was hell bent on hunting down every damn lead connected to his parents' murders. I got why he needed to do it, but lately the need to solve this twenty-year-old cold case had become an obsession with him. Me? Content to keep the streets of Pistol Rock clean.

There was a much-needed vacation in our not too distant future.

I dug for my car keys as I strutted past the Pistol Rock Sheriff station. Because I had part of a beer in me, I said hello to the two dirty old men whittling sticks on the corner of Center Street and Polk and made my way to my cruiser parked next to the Dumpster. Just thinking of spending an evening with my partner, Elroy Sampson, gave me that nervous feeling I always get when my mechanic calls to tell me how much it's gonna cost to fix my car. I climbed behind the wheel, put the pedal to the metal, and gunned the Malibu out into the dead of the night toward the stadium.

* * *

Minutes later I rolled into the Joe Ryan Memorial Stadium parking lot. Pistol Rock High perched upon a flat piece of land next to a field full of rusty oil field equipment. The school had been named after our town's very own version of J.R. Ewing, a.k.a. Joe Ryan. As a young man, he had made a fortune back in the '80s during the oil boom, and in good old country-boy fashion, he'd managed to blow through most of the money he'd pumped out of the ground by the time he was in his thirties.

After his unfortunate run-in with a bull that resulted in his death at the age of forty-two, his sister Beatrice donated the land and what money he had left for the construction of the school and stadium. The field full of wasted pipes, drill bits, and pump equipment next to the school grounds was a bit of an eyesore, but that land also sat on top of easily accessible ground water, which kind of put a salve on the eyesore aspect. Out here, not having a deep appreciation for ground water is about as sacrilegious as urinating in the baptismal.

I parked the cruiser by Elroy's car right next to the stadium entrance. I made the walk inside and stood underneath the high bleachers, scanning around for Elroy. Normally, I'd have gone straight to the concession stand and found him there elbow deep in a paper tray of nachos, but that was out of the question at this hour. I didn't see him anywhere underneath the stands, so I figured I'd check the field for him. Sure enough, impatiently pacing up a storm on the fifty-yard line like a coach challenging a bad call with a referee was Elroy Sampson. Some bug had apparently crawled up his ass.

I made my way toward the only green grass in Pistol Rock. "Elroy," I called, startling him. "What's got you so uptight? Did coming out here get in the way of you sitting on your ass and eating all night?"

He spun around. "Why are you always so bitchy?" He whipped off his ball cap and scratched a scalp that was smoother than a baby's bottom. "I mean, couldn't you just sometimes say, 'How ya doing, Elroy?' Or 'How's the weather treating ya?'"

I shifted from one boot to the other. "You really want me to ask you about the weather?"

He placed the cap back on his head. "Not particularly."

"Well, then. Why all the fussing?" I asked, scoping out the cleat-marked turf for any signs of life.

Elroy rolled onto the toes of his white Reeboks and put his mouth to my ear, quickly zapping me out of the zone. I swung around and hit him in the arm. "What the hell? You're in my personal space."

"Laney, you smell like beer."

"That's 'cause I was drinking beer when you texted me," I shot back. "You smell like shit, so what's your excuse?"

He huffed and pulled on the bill of his ball cap. "You want to hear something funny?" His smile grew wider and his snorting grew louder. "You're going to be so mad you didn't find this first."

He'd gotten a little too close, so I shoved him back a foot. "And why's that?"

He snorted again, then gestured toward the bleachers. "Because passed out, drunk, and dolled up in women's lingerie underneath row two is Rip Granger."

I stared into Elroy's dim eyes. "You're shitting me, right?"

His smile spread, engulfing most of his doughy face. He hooked his thumbs in his waistband and swayed back. "Have you ever known me as a bullshitter?"

Surely he wasn't serious about that question. I searched him up and down. His face was like an open book that nobody would want to read. I cut an eye back over at the bleachers. "Women's lingerie?"

"Yeah." He snickered. "And he sure looks pretty."

For the first time since I had known Elroy, I was laughing with him.

"Why haven't you woken him up?" I asked. "His wife is probably worried sick about him. Or at the least wondering where her bra and panties are."

Elroy laughed so hard that he had to hike his trousers back up. "Well, I knew you'd want to see him, so I waited for you."

"Bullshit," I replied. "You just wanted to rub my nose in the fact that you found him and I didn't."

He shrugged his shoulders and fiddled with his cap again. "Maybe I wanted to gloat just a little bit. That's not so wrong, is it?"

I elbowed him in the gut. "I'd have done the same," I admitted, moving around him, "but have you even thought about why Coach Granger is passed out in the middle of the night on the high school football field wearing women's undies? If the Rattlers had won tonight, I could understand him celebrating a little too much with Mrs. Granger, but the Rattlers got their asses handed to them. Don't you know the school is gonna fire his ass once word gets around?"

"Not really. I just thought it was funny."

The sound of his keys jingling alerted me to the fact that he was skedaddling after me, so I turned to face him. "I ain't saying it isn't funny, but doesn't the whole thing seem a tad bit peculiar to you? Like there might be more to this than Coach Granger's night going a little more sideways than intended."

The dumb look returned to his face. "He's known to like his bourbon," he muttered.

"Elroy," I fired back, giving him the Stop being a dumbass look.

"I guess it's kinda weird."

I threw my hands up. "Some days I wonder how you manage to breathe without having to think about it."

I could tell from the red flushing over his face that I'd pissed him off, so I decided to distract him with a question that'd been eating at me. "How'd you find him, anyway?"

"It took me a while, and I looked everywhere, but I eventually found him there in the bleachers."

"Let me rephrase. What made you go looking for Coach Granger in the first place?"

"Oh," Elroy exclaimed, that dim little light clicking on in his head. "I was out driving around and decided to check the stadium to make sure none of the high school kids were out here tailgating past curfew. There wasn't any party going on, but I saw Rip's truck parked behind the stadium. He wasn't in it, so I went looking around to see what he was up to, and that's when I stumbled across him."

"I see."

We made our way over to the bleachers. Sure enough, lying face down in cigarette butts and used hot-dog trays, hand hugging a bottle of Jack, and sleazed up in the most scandalous fetish attire Pistol Rock had ever seen was Coach Granger.

Here's the sad truth — I didn't even own a G-string that disappeared that far up my butt crack.

Rip had been appropriately named, with his brickhouse shoulders, massive hairy thighs, and musky horse-mane ponytail. Unfortunately, the black garters, white lace knee-highs, and pink chiffon thong and bra hadn't been given their due justice by whoever had strapped them on this human bulldozer.

If I hadn't played witness to the coach's walk of shame a few nights ago when he'd drained a bottle of tequila at Rusty's and spilled about how fucked he was over the losing streak the team had been experiencing this season to all eight customers at the bar ... well, finding him all dressed up with no one to blow I might've been a better sport. It wasn't a secret that the honeymoon with Pistol Rock High School was over for Rip Granger. But I'd never held a fondness for football other than cheering Gunner on back in high school. Not enough time in the day to deal with all my other ninety-nine problems.

Elroy coughed, drawing me back to the issue at hand. "You can do the honors."

"Hang on," I said, shooting Elroy a Don't push your luck kind of look. When would he grow a pair? On second thought, he'd hung up that sack of his years ago when he'd moved in with his sister, Mary Lou, in hopes of saving a dime and never moved out. I pulled out my phone and snapped a picture for posterity.

"Are you gonna blackmail him?" Elroy asked, half appalled.

"Of course not. I wanna have a picture just in case."

I toed Coach Granger. "Rise-n-shine, Coach," I hollered, peering down at him.

Coach mumbled, rolling and tossing about in the trash on the ground. Maybe it was the sound of my voice, but at that moment he decided it was as good a time as any to have himself some sort of pubescent wet dream. Those delicate lace panties didn't have the elastic hold needed to pin down his bear-sized dick when it was starting to wake up.

"Oh yeah, baby," he moaned, sliding his hand down inside the panties and cupping himself. And then he squeezed. "Daddy likes it like that."

The high school football coach dressed in lingerie and passed out under the bleachers. Shooting at a man who turns out to be a Federal Marshall. Coming home to find her own cowboy ready to rock her world. Deputy Sheriff Laney Briggs sure does know how to get herself into trouble. And it was a helluva ride for a novella! Laney is as kickass and quick-witted as ever, and the case she finds herself on has her in more trouble than ever. Without spoiling too much, the case involves the coach's wife, as well as someone from Federal Marshall Colt Larsen's past. Soon enough, Laney finds herself being shot at, arguing with pain-in-the ass cowboys, and tangling limbs with the hottest cowboy of them all. The action in this book is well paced, and is balaced by the wit and humor of the characters. The sex scenes are hot--the emotion in them draws the reader in so it furthers the relationships for those involved. And one of those scenes had me finally cheering for Laney's cowboy Gunner! I loved this addition to the series, and if you enjoyed Pretty Reckless you'll LOVE Whatcha Gonna Do With A Cowboy. Can't wait for the next installment!

Laney Biggs rides again! Book two in the Deputy Laney Biggs series starts off with a bang – almost literally. What would you do if you found the high school coach in a compromising situation? Things deteriorate from there when Laney takes a shot at a US Marshall investigating the coach and his wife, who has conveniently disappeared. US Marshall Colt Larsen is panty-on-fire hot, but Laney is in lust with Texas Ranger Gunner Wilson, who is equally as hot and with whom she is in a relationship of sorts. Thins get interesting when she catches Colt nosing around Gunner's place. What could he possibly want with Gunner? This story is humorous, at times erotic, and just plain fun to read. There is plenty of action, a few plot twists and lots more Laneyism’s that I cannot wait to steal and use in everyday life.

I LOVE this series! This is the second book in the Laney Briggs Series, and it is just as good if not better then the first! It can be read as a standalone; however, I suggest you read them both so you can get to know the characters. Deputy Laney Biggs is sassy and doesn’t back down from an argument, my kind of woman. She gets called out to the stadium and finds the local high school football coach passed out drunk wearing women’s lingerie. She takes the coach to the drunk tank for him sober up. She heads to his house to talk to his wife, only to find out that she is missing and there is a smoking hot Federal Marshal Colt looking for the wife as well. Colt and Laney start working together to find the coach’s wife. This book has it all, humor, romance, and suspense! I can’t wait to read the next book in this series and see what kind of trouble Laney ends up getting into next! A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Laney's back! Another insanely fun and extremely hot read from Jodi Linton! I couldn't put it down! This one was even hotter than the first! Laney is her usual snarky hilarious self! I had to know what she was going to do next! She never fails to make me laugh out loud at her antics and comebacks. My only complaint is that it was too short! I want more Gunner! I can't wait to read more in this series.

Whatcha Gonna Do With a Cowboy is a novella that follows the events from Pretty Reckless. Once again Deputy Laney Briggs as she gets pulled into another strange case. She is also having to deal with the relationship redo with her hot cowboy/Texas Ranger Gunner Wilson. The one thing she didn't need was the smoking hot Federal Marshal Colt Larsen who has not been helpful with info about the case. I really enjoyed finding out how Laney and Gunner's relationship is faring after the first book. And how can you not like a book with not one but two sexy, hot cowboys?

A fun steamy, romance of Laney and Gunner. I could not put this book down. A short read with plenty of action and hot romance!! I have fallen in love with Laney and her quick a__ behavior. This story will have you laughing out loud and then fanning yourself from the bedroom scenes. This is part of a series, but this is my first book from Jodi, I have already bought the first book, I need more Laney and Gunner.

Whatcha Gonna Do With a Cowboy is a Deputy Laney Briggs Novella that's a sizzling hot romance with mystery, action packed drama, and humor. The small town charm has many unique characters, but Deputy Laney Briggs does face danger. The author, Jodi Linton, has given us a thrilling adventurous novella. It will have you sitting on the edge of your seat and reading until you're finished. Then, you'll kick back in your red boots and say "What a fantastic book"! I received a complimentary copy from the author in exchange for my honest review. This review is one hundred percent my opinion.

In ‘Whatcha Gonna Do With A Cowboy’ we follow Laney Briggs again in her work as a deputy sheriff in a small Texas town. When Laney finds the local schools Coach drunk and wearing woman’s lingerie, she immediately knows something weird is going on. When a handsome Federal Marshal called Colt Larsen appears out of nowhere, Laney’s suspicions turn out true. Soon Laney is busy with a new case, but all she really wants to do is spend time with her own sexy cowboy Gunner. But since Gunner is busy with his own job, they don’t get to spend much time together. But the times they do spend together are smoking hot and full of passion. Well, where should I start... Just like ‘Pretty Reckless’ this book is amazing, fun, sexy and full of action (and not only the sheriff kind of action). I really loved reading about Laney and the way she does her job. This series is just the perfect blend between romance and detective/mystery and I love it all the way. Laney doesn’t listen to what other people tell her and especially when people tell her how to do her job she isn’t afraid to speak her mind. And well Gunner… There can never be enough Gunner in a book. I love the sexy cowboy. And I love the relationship between Laney and Gunner. They are just so passionate and they are clearly crazy about each other. The one downfall about this book.. It was way too short! I couldn’t believe how fast I finished reading it. This book should be a thousand pages big. There should be many tiny letters so that there would be much more to read on a page. Boy… I just love this series. Jodi Linton, you did another exceptional good job if you ask me. So if you’re a Laney Briggs virgin (I can’t imagine) I would advise you to get ‘Pretty Reckless’ right now. And if you read the first book.. ‘Whatcha Gonna Do With A Cowboy’ is coming out August 18th. Get ready ;)

Jodi Linton does it again and steps it up a notch. Laney and Gunnar are back and things are heating up in Pistol Rock. Whatcha Gonna Do With a Cowboy is a delightful romp in a quirky small town with wonderful characters and a terrific mystery. Good looking cowboys and sassy women this is a great escape.

Jodi Linton’s novella, Whatcha Gonna Do with a Cowboy, is an exciting continuation of Laney Briggs and her adventures as a Texas Deputy Sheriff!  Just like her first novel, this book is packed full of steamy sex with unbelievable characters and their reactions to circumstances they find themselves in. Jodi creates a world in Texas that anyone would long to be part of.       Laney Briggs and Gunner Wilson are trying to make their relationship work, again.  They both have demanding jobs because they are both in law enforcement.  It seems to keep bringing them closer together rather than tearing them apart.  Even though there is distance between them due to the job, it doesn’t stop the way they feel when together.    This book introduces a US Marshal, Colt Larsen.  As well as keeping up with Laney and Gunner’s rocky relationship as they try to solve another case.~TSRBR Overall Rating:  4 Rockin’ Stars  Hero – Gunner Wilson 4.0 stars Hero – Colt Larsen 3.5 stars Heroine – Laney Briggs 4.5 stars Steam Level: 4.0 stars Plot: 4.0 stars Cliffhanger: No Would I recommend this book: Yes! The suspense was worth the wait and in the end…well, read this book to find out!  You won’t be disappointed!  Yeehaw, Jodi! Would I recommend this author: Yes! I love the way the author maintains the steam while creating a realistic story that kept me on my toes and wanting more.   ***Received an ARC of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review***

Jodi Linton's 2nd book in the Laney Briggs series is hotter than the first. The story continues with trouble finding Laney, working on her relationship with Gunner, laughs, guns a-blazing, ass-kicking and some hot sex! How such a small town finds so much trouble to get into is quite interesting. Be sure, Laney is there to save the day along with some characters I never could of dreamed up. I couldn't put this book down. Read it all in one sitting. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book! I love Laney and her smart-alec mouth, her spirit and her determination!(less)

Laney is back - and sassier than ever! ************ “I’ll be damned.” He smiled. “You’re the Laney Briggs.” I shrugged. “And your point is?” “It just all makes perfect sense why you shot at me tonight, that’s all.” ************ Laney is back and sassier than ever! This time we find Laney face to face with a feisty Federal Marshal Colt Larsen, who just may have more than a professional interest in the latest case Laney has found herself in the middle of. And the fact that Gunner is out of town isn't helping – all that frustration that Laney has pent up is locked and loaded right at Colt Larsen, which makes for some tense times! When things start to escalate, Gunner may be the only one who can help Laney and Colt bring the bad guys to justice without be collateral damage themselves. This book had a bit of everything that I love – a lot of mystery, a ton of sass, a heap of suspense, and some real hot steamy times! After we left Laney at the end of Pretty Reckless, it was easy to think she would be setting off on a journey to her own happy ever after, but life is never that simple, especially in the town of Pistol Rock. Laney is still fighting to find peace within herself, and although Gunner has helped to ground her, she still wrestles with her own personal demons. She’s a bit volatile – just ask Colt Larsen about that – and she’s still trying to come to terms with her feelings towards Gunner. ************** Gunner had many traits. He could be relaxing to be around. He could be bullheaded. He could be demanding. But most of all, he was my addiction. And I was obsessed. I had always been obsessed. And maybe true addiction never fades. Maybe everything I’d ever wanted or needed was right here…right now. ************** One of the things I like best about this series is that even though Laney and Gunner seem to belong together, there is still something that leaves an air of uncertainty around things. Unlike a lot of books where you just know two characters are meant to be together even if they don’t see it themselves, there is just something about Laney that leaves you wondering just where she’ll end up…which makes me very excited to read the next book since I’m not really sure what kind of trouble Laney will find herself in or just how things are going to turn out for her and Gunner. Things are hot and steamy between the two, but sometimes I feel like the tenderness beneath it all is running a step or two behind…we’ll just have to see what’s in store for them! There weren't a lot of appearances by some of the characters we got to know in Pretty Reckless, but we do get to spend a dinner with Laney’s parents…they are so not up for any “Parent of the Year” awards! We also get a look at Laney’s cousin Wyatt (a bit of a closer look than Laney would have liked!), and of course we get to spend some time with Elroy during the case. I just love these colorful characters and they really come to life on the page. And I’d be remiss if I didn't at lease mention that Federal Marshal who showed up in town. Colt Larsen may be sexy as all get out, but he’s got some serious secrets he’s keeping…and I for one hope we get to find out what they are at some point!  I really enjoyed this installment of the Deputy Laney Briggs series, my only complaint would be that it was a novella which means it was too short and I just want more, but of course that’s just me being greedy! This is certainly not your typical cowboy love story, but it’s so easy to fall in love with Laney and the gang from Pistol Rock. I was given a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this novella! Laney and Gunner are back and to throw in a little complication there is Colt Larsen, a good-lookin' United States Federal Marshall. In this novella Laney and Elroy find the high school coach passed out at the football field dressed in  ladies lingerie and his wife is no where to be found. Laney starts investigating at the coaches house and has a run-in with someone  looking for Kate. The coaches wife is named Missy. She knows there is no one that lives there by that name and tells him so. He in  turn tells her that he is a Federal Marshall looking for a lady that scams unsuspecting men out of their money and then disappears. They begin investigating and find out that Kate has crossed the wrong people and is in big danger. Will they be able to find her in time  and what is the connection she has to Colt? In between the investigating things are still nice and steamy with Laney and Gunner.  Will it last? Love this series and hope there will be more. I recommend this book if you are looking for a fun read with some steam. It is sure to  keep you entertained.

This is the second book in the Laney Briggs series. I like the interactions of all the characters, and the plot is very interesting. This is a steamy romance with some suspense that will have you guessing what will happen next. It’s also loaded with good humor that will have you laughing out loud quite often, and you will learn quite a few new euphemisms that you may find yourself repeating before you are finished this story. Ms. Linton has given us a fantastic start with the first two stories in this series. I’m looking forward to see what is next in Laney’s life. If anything can happen, it will happen to Deputy Laney Briggs. So she’s really not totally surprised to find that the high school football coach is passed out under the bleachers at the school’s football field wearing woman’s lingerie. But when a sexy Federal Marshal shows up in town she knows there’s bigger trouble not far behind.  Colt Larson has no problem putting on his charm, and when he finds out who Laney is he holds nothing back in those charms. Colt’s reasons for being in town are not totally revealed to Laney, so when her life is in more danger than normal because of a stranger on a motorcycle she is not happy. But when she learns that there may be a Mexican drug cartel involved that may have kidnapped someone from her town she knows this may be too big for her and calls in her favorite Texas Ranger. Gunner Wilson is the love of her life, and he is not happy at all when he finds out how much trouble Colt has put Laney in, but his feelings for her will not let him sit back and just watch. The only problem he has is that this may be the time he cannot keep her safe...  I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Author Jodi Linton’s unique voice and writing style is quite impressive. I read and loved her debut, Pretty Reckless, and folks, this one doesn’t disappoint! Sassy heroine Laney Briggs is at it again, fighting crime while trying to manage her somewhat long-distance relationship to cowboy extraordinaire Gunner Wilson.  In comes hot federal marshal, Colt, to stir things up.  Whatcha Gonna do With a Cowboy is an action-packed, fun-filled read. With compelling characters and steamy sex scenes, this is a ride you don’t want to miss!

In WHATCHA GONNA DO WITH A COWBOY, we see the return of Deputy Laney and her hunky cowboy lawman, Gunner Wilson. Laney and Gunner are still navigating their tenuous relationship when Laney stumbles upon another mystery that will shake the foundations of Pistol Rock, Texas. The book marks the return of Deputy Elroy, Luke Wagner and Laney's outlandish parents as well as introduces us to a new cowboy hunk, Federal Marshall Colt Larsen, who's hot on the trail of a fugitive and Laney. The entire package adds up to be a wild and fun ride that's completely entertaining. Jodi Linton writes the novella in first person from Laney's wise cracking, sarcastic point-of-view which just adds to the fun. She gets to write what we all want to be. So if you're looking for a way to fill a lazy summer afternoon or a cold winter evening, WHATCHA GONNA DO WITH A COWBOY is the perfect way to fill it.

Jodi Linton brings us back to the quaint town of Pistol Rock in the 2nd installment of the Deputy Laney Briggs story. Laney is the same no nonsense cowgirl from when we first met her in Pretty Reckless. Since Gunner took a position in Odessa at the Ranger Office, he and Laney have been giving their relationship another go. "Gunner had many traits. He could be relaxing to be around. He could be bullheaded. He could be demanding. But most of all, he was my addiction." I adored watching their interactions and trust in each other grow. You always felt the love that was between them, but love alone isn't enough. Enter Floyd and Ruth - the dysfunctional couple who raised our lovely Laney. Gunner doesn't shy away from his cocky demeanor in front of the parentals. In fact, he and Floyd are drinking buddies. Ruth, on the other hand, isn't a fan of the Ranger who is occupying her daughter's bed. A case of a missing woman, a football coach in ladies lingerie and a mysteriously good-looking U.S. Marshal who goes by the name of Colt Larsen is what we are in for in this novella. "He lounged indolently against the doorway, and when his eyes locking in on mine, he tipped his Stetson up and sent me a killer smile. In response, I flicked him the middle finger and hit the gas, blowing down FM 167. On any other given day, that level of trash talking would've made my day. Hell, there were nights when Gunner and I considered it foreplay." I will tell ya, Colt needs his own story. He has his own issues, which will all be revealed in due time, but he is one hell of a cowboy! He loves hard, and his heart is big. Colt and Laney's friendship isn't strong, but something there leaves her helping him. I think that decision showed a lot of her character, as well as his. Add my Gunner into the mix, and you see the level of commitment that black hat wearing cowboy has for his girl. "If you ever put my girl in the kind of danger she was in yesterday because your panties were in a wad, the next thing you'll see is my fist rearranging your pretty face."  Ladies, don't fret - you have your share of Luke Wagner in this novella. He comes to Laney's rescue and maintains his sweet, Southern charm. You see a protective side of him with a humorous interaction between him and Colt that would have Gunner proud to have Luke in Laney's life. (Neither would admit it!) With snark like this: "The day I'm a princess is the day you take a girl on a second date," I fired back, smiling. - I see Luke as nothing more than a brotherly figure. I said it before, and I will say it again - I cannot wait for the woman who walks into that cowboy's life and tames him! That will be a wild ride. Lately, romance has been my genre of choice. This genre allows for an escape that offers bumps in the road, but you almost always get your HEA. Jodi Linton is in a  group all by herself. The way she writes suspense intertwined with romance - is pure talent. One doesn't trump the other and it all flows effortlessly. Jodi's style of romance is so different from most. It is not rose petals, watermelon candles and slow songs. You get foreplay in the form of trash talk, experimenting with things she has only read about and a couple of tall cold ones. When Gunner whispers sweet nothings into his gal's ear, it is more like "It never gets old seeing my name inked on your ass."

This is the first book in the Deputy Laney Briggs series by Jodi Linton that I have read. I enjoyed getting to know this loud crazy cowgirl. Laney a deputy sheriff in a small town in Texas just doesn't solve cases she gets smack in the middle, red boots deep all in!! Add in a sexy as hell Texas Ranger boyfriend a bit over protective and a federal marshal who has a secret involvement in the case makes for some sizzling moments throughout this book. Cross dressing football coach, the marshal' s ex wife and a little Texas bunny ranch (not the furry cute kind) all come together to make this a great read!

Hot dang! This is fun! A fabulous, fantastic, terrific, not-to-be-missed-at-any-cost read! Laney Briggs, Deputy Sheriff of the small town of Pistol Rock, Texas, is having a beer on a Friday evening when she gets a call from her partner, dim-witted Elroy Sampson. He tells her to go to the football stadium ASAP. Their High School football coach is passed out, drunk, and wearing woman’s lingerie. Coach Rip Granger is also holding a most compromising picture of himself and a few ladies from Bristol Mills, the local whorehouse; he’s arrested, of course. Laney then goes to Granger’s house to talk to his wife, but she’s disappeared. Laney almost shoots an intruder, handsome Federal Marshal Colt Larsen, from Tarpon Pass. He’s also looking for a Kate; there’s one tiny problem: there are no Kates in Pistol Rock. After some investigating, it turns out that Kate and Missy Granger, Rip’s wife, are one and the same! And it seems Colt might know a lot more about Missy/Kate than he first let on. Laney’s boyfriend, Gunner Wilson, who was out on a cold case, comes back just in time; she’s been missing him and Marshal Larsen is charming, sexy and hot! But then, work calls, again, and Laney partners with Colt to find the missing Missy/Kate, who is mixed up with some very bad people! From page one, I had a smile on my face; I knew I was going to enjoy the ride. Tremendously in fact! The characters are large, colourful, but not over-the-top; just enough to be wildly entertaining. I loved them all: the good, the bad, and the clueless. The chemistry between Laney and Gunner is off the charts, the story is fast-paced, and the plot solid. It’s extremely well-written, always according to small town Texas, the banter between the characters is exceptionally funny and spot-on, and you can hear that twang as you read. Heehaw! This book was gifted to me by the publisher, and if I had paid for it, not a word of this review would change.

Steamy and entertaining Favorite Quotes: “His face was like an open book that nobody would want to read.” “Some days I wonder how you manage to breathe without having to think about it.” “It’s no secret that you chew through men like a pack of Juicy Fruit.” “I grew up in a house where the kitchen was run by a chain smoker whose taste buds were so shot that she could eat a raw jalapeno like it was a Mentos.” “Not only had she almost gotten me killed, but she’d soured our high school football coach’s name – that alone was sacrilegious.” My Review: Whatcha Gonna Do With a Cowboy is a quick and fun read that maintains and continues the humor and plot line from the first book, while it also kicks up the relationship and tosses in more adventure and another intriguing and screwy case to solve. In addition to the atomically hot and sensual love scenes, this installment adds more risk and police action for the feisty and frustrated Deputy Laney. Despite realizing she is largely untrained and poorly prepared for her job, she assists a sexy US Marshal in solving a troublesome case within her jurisdiction. For a tiny little town in west Texas, Pistol Rock certainly appears to be a hot-bed of crime. As well as the murders, assaults, drive-by shooting and drug running from the first book; we can now add kidnapping, embezzlement, fraud, shootouts, a biker gang, prostitution, and more drug running. Add in the fun of finding a drunk cross-dressing coach on the football field and what more could you ask for? Ms. Linton’s writing is easy to follow, cleverly humorous, and highly addicting as well as entertaining. And I am pleased to announce a new word find of, “thong bomb.”

I received a copy to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here it is. Deputy Laney Briggs is at it again. She doesn't go looking for trouble but it always seems to find her. When Elroy calls her to the high school football field, Laney can't believe what she is seeing. The football coach is drunk under the bleachers in women's undies. When she wakes him up, he doesn't remember how he got there, Laney goes to his house looking for his wife Missy. But Missy is no where to be found. When a stranger just walks into the coaches house, Laney shoots to get him to talk. Turns out he is US Marshall Colt Larsen and he is looking for Kate/Missy. Colt doesn't tell Laney all of the truth and why he is looking for Missy. Yet Laney has more sexy, delicious cowboys than any one person needs. But her heart belongs to Gunner. This series is funny with a smart deputy that will keep the little town of Pistol Rock safe as long as she can. With Gunner living with her now, he is away working in Odessa but comes home to her when he can. Laney is tired of being alone and with Gunner's arms wrapped around her at night, she sleeps safe and sound. There is suspense, a shootout and a drug dealer that will pull all this story together. So sit back and enjoy the ride with Deputy Laney Briggs and Texas Ranger Gunner Wilson, they will not disappoint you. I am loving this series and can't wait for more. **Wicked Reads Review Team**

4 star I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and I was kept interested. The story has laughs, suspense, and heartbreak. Laney is trying to solve a case but she needs to deal with Colt in order to solve the case. You get more of Laney and Gunner in this story. They both will help Colt solve the case. When Colt’s case almost gets Laney killed Gunner is about to give him a beat down. In the end will all three of them be able to solve the case? Or will one of them get taken out by all the crazies involved in the investigation? Laney was strong and sweet. Gunner was hot, sexy, and alpha. Colt is an alpha but has a soft spot for one special lady. Suspense with some twists and turns throughout. All in all I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I recommend this book.

Whatcha Gonna Do with a Cowboy is Jodi Linton’s novella, and the second in her Deputy Laney Briggs series. Although it is a novella, Jodi left nothing out in this story. It is an exciting continuation of this series. Laney is back and running for sheriff against Elroy Sampson who we met in the first book, Pretty Reckless. She is still independent, sassy and smart-mouthed and still doing the work while Elroy sits and eats. Her and Gunner are now living together and working on their relationship as best they can since he is stationed in Odessa. Gunner Wilson is Lani's one true love. Their relationship is growing, not only their love but trust as well. The times that they can get together at home are HOT and so intimate that you may need a fan nearby. This story introduces readers to U S Marshal Colt Larsen who is on a quest and he's not always forthcoming with Laney on all of the details. Laney doesn't trust him because she knows that he's holding back. She agrees to help him because the crime is in her town and she wants to solve the case. Gunner, on the other hand, is not happy with Colt and how he has drug Laney into what is turning out to be a very dangerous case. Jodi's story is a fast paced mystery with plenty of action and steamy smexy times. Jodi also includes the humor that I enjoyed in her first book. I couldn't put this one down until I had finished it. I am looking forward to more of Laney Briggs.
