In 2005, the show begins an extensive tour across the United States and Canada, hitting major cities such as Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and many more. This beautifully packaged, whimsical keepsake is designed to resemble the Grimmerie, an ancient book of spells that Elphaba uses in the show. Wicked: The Grimmerie offers fans a behind-the-curtains peek at the musical, profiles of the cast and creative team, and inside stories, with full-color photographs throughout. Some of the irresistible special features include an "Ozian" glossary, spells, an illustrated family tree, and a step-by-step look at how Elphaba gets green before each show—everything fans need to relive the Broadway experience day after day.

Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Like Harry Potter, Wicked the musical seems to invite lame metaphors about casting spells and magic. Certainly, this play about pre-Dorothy Oz has enthralled audiences from Broadway to San Francisco and Los Angeles. The musical, based loosely on Gregory Maguire's novel, tells the story of Elphaba, the headstrong "Green Girl" and the good witch Glinda. This full-color pictorial offers an extended behind-the-curtains peek at the musical, its casts and creators. Wicked: The Grimmerie, which is packaged to resemble a book of spells, contains the show's libretto, a witchy illustrated family tree, and a step-by-step look at how Elphaba becomes green before each performance.

A must have for all Wicked fans

How did the Tony award-winning musical Wicked come together?
In Wicked: The Grimmerie you will find out. For those of you who have been living under a rock for the past five years and have not heard of the smash-hit musical Wicked, it is based on Gregory Maguire's book. It is basically The Wizard of Oz from the Wicked Witch of the West's (Elphaba) point of view. I would recommend seeing the musical before reading this book.
This book includes everything you have ever wondered about Wicked. It describes how Elphaba is "greenafyed", hints on how Elphaba "flies" and much more. From writing the musical itself to putting together the final costumes and set, you'll find it all. Get insights on all the different cast members; hear about tryouts, opinions and struggles from cast members.
With the extraordinary photos, I would have to give the book five stars. The interviews with the cast, crew, producer, director and others are truly fascinating. It has great detailed information. This is a must have for all Wicked fans.

    My sister loved it!

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my sister after shopping at Barnes and Noble with her. She was the one who brought my attention to it. She's seen the play twice, has the album and has seen the movie. She had no idea I was going to send it to her. She told me the photos are beautiful and after reading it, has it as a table book for others to see.

    One Wicked Gift

I bought this as part of a Bar Mitvah gift and was really wowed when it came in the mail. The cover of the book itself is quite stunning. I have never seen Wicked so I cannot fully appreciate the contents of the book, but I know it was really loved by the receiver!

The play is truly amazing and if you are a fan than this book is for you. It is about what went into making the show and putting everything together. It also contains the script, most of the talking was taken out though. The lyrics to all of the songs are in it. It has amazing pictures and is a perfect gift to any Wicked fan. It is also a good thing to collect autographs in. I took mine to the current LA company and I got Megan Hilty (Glinda), Jenna Leigh Green (Nessarose), John Rubenstien (Wizard), Adam Lambert (Fieryo), and the understudy of Boq to sign it. It is a wonderful book and totally worth the money!

Wicked is just AMAZING!!! the story plot is so creative it makes you wish there was more! And also that Dorthy didnt kill Elphaba!!! =' She is my favorite character!!! I also love the music it's so.. so.... musical!! When you listen to the music it sends chills up your spine! Now I practically listen to the music every day!!! Some people who dont listen to this this stuff and think it's just weird.. well I think that they havn't looked into it enough and thought about it! I mean even the actors/actresses have worked so hard to get here and still work so hard to put on a good show every time. Idina Mentzel and Kristin Chenoweth in the original cast, are so AMAZING!! Their voices combined sound so great together it makes me wish i were them!! Anyways Wicked the musical and the book are really good and I think you should see/read it!!!!!! IT'S THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!
