Overview

What do a videographer from Cincinnati, Ohio and a banker from Bay Minette, Alabama have in common? 'Nothing.' I know that's what you're thinking. One records events, the other records numbers. Film vs. finance. Then there's the division of the Mason Dixon line...supposed Yankee hurriedness vs. Southern languor. Commonalities? Bah!

Yet despite geographical and career differences, Dennis and Amy have found common ground in their love for words and a shared sense of humor.

These verses were inspired by the beauty that surrounds us. Oftentimes, we are too busy to notice how the light plays just so through the leaves, casting dappled shadows. Or we fail to notice the shapes in the clouds and the way sunbeams spotlight the sky. Maybe we see an old weathered bench and think of it as just a place to sit, never imagining the memories made there. We travel the Interstates to move quickly from place to place...we meander the backroads to savor the experience of the journey. These are the places where life happens.

Open these pages to join them on their odyssey as they capture the beauty of their surroundings in verse, prose and photography.

About the Author

Dennis W. Gray is a videographer, photographer and poet. He published his first book of poetry "An Apology to a Fish" in 1978, before starting a forty-year career in video production.

In March of 2020, COVID shut down his business, and in February of 2021 he started writing again just to have something to stimulate his mind. He found writing for himself was more creative and rewarding than writing for his clients. "I can be as off the wall as I want to be and not have to answer for my ideas."

He has several other projects on the drawing board which should be completed shortly.
---
Amy L. Hadley works by day in finance, but her evenings are spent writing, and her weekends are enjoyed meandering near and far with her camera as her constant companion. A notebook and pen are everyday essentials as well, as many a thought or verse would have been lost without them.

Amy is passionately committed to daydreaming and enthusiastic about composing poetry and fiction, photography, painting and collecting seashells. Chasing inspiration is her favorite activity. She may not hold a degree in the arts, but her experience has educated her far beyond the confines of a classroom. Her creations are designed for real life.

She has more works in progress, including a book of short stories and another book of poetry, accompanied by photos and art.
