Belva Plain (1915-2010) was a bestselling American author best known for her Werner Family Saga. She sold her first short story to Cosmopolitan at the age of 25. Her first novel, Evergreen, published in 1973, spent 41 weeks on The New York Times Best Sellers list and was later adapted into a television mini-series. By the time of her death, she had published dozens of books, 21 of which were New York Times bestsellers.
