This work of seventy-two (72) pages began as a collage of small cards, one written each day, preserving a thought or comment about the day. These cards were assembled into a diary calendar work of art, called 'VARIATIONS.' The reflections, explanations, and associated illustrations of each day's activities and thoughts reveal an ordinary yet complex life of an artist trying to resolve emotional, social, and sexual identities, while confronted by separation, divorce, two lovers, bills, family pressures, work, and a broken washing machine. The artist, everyman, introduces the reader to his inner thoughts and perspectives and we are witness to his dissolution (disillusion) and emotional growth, as he moves through just two months of days.
