Overview

This workbook is designed to help adolescents learn about alcohol and other drug abuse. Each chapter has activities to help determine to what extent alcohol and other drugs have impacted their lives. This can range from a single incident, to recognizing the difficult fact that their entire lives have revolved around alcohol and/or other drugs. "FIRST STEP TO BETTER CHOICES" can be used by the individual adolescent working through these issues and can also be used in group therapy sessions. Make the first step to better choices!

About the Author

Denise DeNicolo earned a master's degree in Counseling & Human Services from the State University of New York at Oswego in 1998. She has extensive experience as a therapist and program manager in various settings in non-profit agencies, residential treatment centers, and military facilities. Denise has a full-time independent practice in Spring Branch, Texas, providing a wide range of services to diverse populations.

Prior to settling in Texas, Denise lived an unpredictable, yet exciting life as a military spouse until her husband retired with 30 years of service in the US Army. She is an "Army Brat" and also served four years active duty in the US Army.

In 2015, Denise published "Launching Your Private Practice" to help professionals start their own private practices.

Denise is not one to sit still for long, as she has many interests and hobbies. She is a marathon runner, enjoys sewing, crocheting, refinishing furniture, collecting antiques, refurbishing old houses, and selling real estate. Yes, and she still makes time for friends and family too.
