About the Author

Karen Goeller, a well versed author, has completed a variety of gymnastics and fitness books from 2001 until present. Goeller started writing books after she was involved in an accident in and suffered permanent spinal damage. Goeller turned to writing in order to remain involved in gymnastics and fitness. Goeller's books are currently used by gymnastics coaches, fitness experts, and athletes worldwide. With more than 15 published books, Goeller has written more gymnastics books than anyone in the USA. Karen Goeller has produced State Champions, National TOPS Team Athletes, and Empire State Games Competitors among many other successful gymnasts. Three National Champions are from her gymnastics facility. Goeller and her NY athletes have been featured regularly in the media including television, magazines, and newspapers. She considers it a privilege to have worked at Karolyi's Camp for seven summers as and IGC for a decade of Holiday Clinics. Working at these camps along with attending many USA Gymnastics events have been contributing factors to her vast knowledge of the sport. Before earning her BA Degree, Karen's education included training as an EMT, Physical Therapist, and Nutritionist. She has held certifications such as EMT-D, Nutritional Analysis, Fitness Trainer, Counseling Techniques, Childcare Fundamentals, USAG Safety Certification, USAG Meet Director, and USAG Skill Evaluator among others.

Brian Dowd carefully tested more than 50 exercises for these books and then worked as the fitness model to complete this project. Brian Dowd's sport has always been baseball. He has been a member of numerous travel baseball teams growing up and competed in the AAU, NABF, AABC National Championships, and the AAU Junior Olympics National Championships among others. Brian also played 4 years of varsity baseball for one of the best and most respected high school programs in New York City. After high school, Brian went on to play 4 years of NCAA College Baseball. He currently plays semi-professional baseball in the New York area coaches the high school team he once played for in New York City. Besides Dowd's continued dedication to baseball, he has recently returned to college to earn his Master's Degree.
