Oxidative Stress in Skeletal Muscle presents for the first time the mo st up-to-date research findings in the field. Skeletal muscle consumes significant amounts of oxygen, and its oxygen flux increases signific antly under conditions of exercise and muscle contraction. This makes the muscle vulnerable to oxidative stress, as concomitantly with the i ncrease of oxygen flow there is an increase of oxygen free radicals, w hich are a byproduct of muscle respiration.
