Overview

The fast fashion industry has come under fire as the cause for clothing being discarded to landfills, and the resulting environmental crisis. But is it the only culprit? No, it is not. There are other little-discussed factors that contribute to the staggering 10] million tons of clothing thrown away each year in the US.

In A Conscientious Guide To Wardrobe Care, fashion professional Sheryll Fraze explores this range of factors. She reveals the truth behind clothing returns and the explosive impact of social media and fashion influencers on our disposable clothing mindset. The book shows how to limit impulse buying, keep closets streamlined, gives practical mending tips, and provides sustainable options for transitioning garments no longer wanted. It then offers its Wardrobe Care Guide (which can be cut out for easy reference) to keep clothing protected from damages that lead them to the trash bin.

About the Author

Sheryll Fraze has loved the creative arts and clothing from a very young age. She has been in the fashion business for over 30 years: first as a designer in Manhattan’s 7th Avenue garment district, after graduating from the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology; then in various positions in California, where she
now resides. These included being a retail store manager, merchandiser and buyer.

She credits her experiences on both the wholesale and retail sides of the fashion business with giving her broad expertise about fashion and its ecological impact. These insights were the inspiration to write this book. Her company Garment Saver has been in business over 15 years, helping clients care for their wardrobe with eco-friendly organizers and protectors for home storage and travel needs.
