The trail is cluttered with pioneers, Yankee neighbors, Rebel brothers, white marauders, and men with all the earmarks of bad company. He attaches himself to a wagon train for safety, good company and romance. And in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, he falls in love, only to be abruptly separated by a painful ambush. Lost, and in pursuit of Ginny, WB faces the perils of desert storms, explosive work in the gold mines, and flaming arrows.

Left wandering and wondering, WB encounters Sunny, a mysterious stranger who introduces him to the thrilling and most dangerous work of all—cowboying.

About the Author

Tom Van Dyke lives with his wife on their ranch in Cave Creek, Arizona. A member of Western Writers of America, he has been writing screenplays since 1970. One of his motion pictures was considered for nomination of an Academy Award.

Tom created and wrote the American Bicentennial television public service announcements, "Stand Up and Be Counted," the most widely viewed national and international PSAs in the history of television.

His creative expression of writing and film production are shared with his creation of fine art. Tom's sculptures, paintings and photography have been exhibited or are in the permanent collections of the New York Museum of Modern Art, the Carnegie Art Institute, the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Henry Ford Museum, the Cranbrook Institute of Arts, and the Butler Art Institute of American Art.

A Cowboy Christmas An American Tale is Tom's first book.
