About the Author

Seconde Nimenya is an international award-winning author of "Evolving Through Adversity," a story of her life journey in which she shares the life lessons she has learned along the way, to inspire others. Her second book, "A Hand To Hold" is an inspirational novel of love, healing and redemption. And her third book, "A Leader's Companion Workbook to Evolving Through Adversity" is filled with leadership insights for personal and professional development.

Seconde is the Founder of COMMON PURPOSE TRAINING SERVICES (CPTS), and serves as CPTS's Principal Diversity Leadership Trainer for clients ranging from small to large organizations and world-class universities and colleges. She helps leaders and employees achieve cultural transformations, develop cultural competence and engage a diverse workforce, while bridging the gaps between diverse and multicultural communities both locally and globally. Her expertise is in debunking diversity stereotypes and biases that affect the workplace from attracting, hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
Seconde holds a bachelor's degree in history, a bachelor's degree in business administration with a major in finance and an MBA. She blends her varied cultural and educational backgrounds to create dynamic presentations, using a unique approach that is both inspiring and empowering.

Seconde is a firm believer that despite our social identities such as race, gender, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation, we are far more alike than different.
As a frequent keynote speaker, trainer and advocate, Seconde shares inspiration and motivation to spark her audience's minds with new and fresh perspectives. She advocates for diversity and inclusion in the workplace and the educational system, as well as raises key global issues such as the violence against women, child marriage and education for girls.

Her TED Talk on Race and other Identity Constructs, titled, "We Are Not All That Different" has been hailed as the most inspirational TED Talk for our times.

In 2017, Seconde was honored with The Seeds Of Hope Award, recognizing her contributions in bridging the gaps between diverse communities.
