A Soul's Reflection
Detective Alison Lang stood in the doorway of her latest case, she was keenly aware of the impending doom, but couldn't for the life of her figure out how to stop the train wreck about to happen. It was clear to her, mostly due to the lack of any kind of evidence, that in order for find this sadistic psychopath, she was going to have to tap into a part of her that she really didn't like. It was one thing to know that someone was evil, and thrived on pain. It was even worse when you could access the depths of that evil by essentially placing yourself in the shoes of the victim. Her therapist had referred to it as empathetic tendencies. Her ex swore up and down she was psychic. She thought they both needed therapy more than she did, but that wasn't going to help her right now.

Her partner blathered on about how he'd rather be spending the night, and for once, she had to agree with him. Anything would be better than the evil that still hovered around this bedroom. The victim was a congresswoman, which meant Feds would be coming in soon. That was the last thing that Ali wanted to have happen. So with that in mind, she steeled her nerves as she faced down the truth of the situation. It was time to embrace her crazy side and hopefully find the asshole who had mutilated the beautiful soul that was Janine Jackson.

As Ali and Paul tried to solve this mentally and physically exhausting case, Fate hands Ali another shitty hand by sending her ex-fiance back into her life to reek havoc on her emotions as well. Between Alex wanting to shield her from the emotional stress of the case, and Paul wanting to shield her from Alex, Ali was finding it harder and harder to not beat the shit out of both of them. They both wanted to help her, but right now, she had to focus on not losing her mind as she goes head to head with the evil soul who'd murdered the Congresswoman. Good times!
