Kevin P Conley Jr. is a Hotshot Wildland Firefighter, long distance hiker, cyclist, and a philanthropist. Kevin is a mental health advocate and recognized for his vulnerability, authenticity and voice. His compassion for others is unique and inspiring. Kevin is quick to help a stranger in need and is known for being selfless, and very positive on his spontaneous and long adventures. It his debut memoir 'Above The Ashes', Kevin hopes to raise more donations for the Wildland Firefighter Foundation as he donates 5% of profits directly to them.

This book inspired me in so many ways. The story is raw, touching and motivating. I felt like I was there for so many parts as Kevin spoke vulnerable, authentic and great details. An incredible well written journey. I started reading Above The Ashes while the sun was just setting, I finished as the cold of the early night gave me chills. I was blown away by his story. This memoir hits home. I'm Thankful Kevin chose himself and chose to share his battles. I was invested mentally in his process for healing or finding his path. So hard to put this one down!! I know firsthand that many of us will experience the struggles of mental illness at some point in our life. This book will help you to not feel alone & inspire you to find a way out. Outside of that, it's just a very entertaining read! The cross-country adventure & the insights into what it's like being on the line as a wildland firefighter was very exciting to me. Kevin is a hero & I can't recommend this book enough��
