Through his study, he presents detailed analyses of what fields these immigrants have achieved in, why they immigrated, and what they chose to do with their fortunes. Ultimately, Achieving the American Dream is a testament to the American democracy and open society that is the main attraction to these immigrants who are as necessary to the U.S. as we are to them.

About the Author

Alfred K. Ho is professor emeritus of Western Michigan University. He received his B.A. from Yenching University, Beijing, China, his Ph.D. in political science from Princeton University, and his Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles. Thus, he has the training in both the East and the West cultures. This is his eighth published work. His early books include: Developing the Economy of the People's Republic of China, (Praeger, l982); Joint Ventures of the People's Republic of China (Praeger, 1990); and China's Reforms and Reformers (Praeger, 2004).
