The target audience for this book is basic and clinical investigators interested in mechanisms of allergic inflammation. The chapter authors are well-recognized international experts in their respective fields of investigation. There are an adequate number of tables, figures, and graphs to appropriately illustrate and catalog key concepts. The references are pertinent and up-to-date. The index and table of contents are sufficient guides to the chapter contents. Although there are other reviews of adhesion molecules, this one is unique because of its exclusive focus on allergic inflammation. It is an excellent presentation of current knowledge relative to characterization of adhesion molecules and counter-ligands, regulation of expression, and function, including the role of adhesion molecules in signal transduction. It is an excellent reference for medical libraries and for individuals interested in mechanisms of allergic inflammation.
