First friends, then enemies . . .

Lady Aurelia hasn't always hated Max, Viscount Camden, her brother's best friend. In fact, as a besotted girl, she thrived under his kind attention— sure that he was the most noble and handsome man in the land. Until her young heart discovered what manner of rogue he really was. Now, though she enjoys nothing more than getting on his last nerve, she can't deny Max drives her to distraction— even if she tries to pretend otherwise.

Now something more . . .

Max cannot recall a time when Aurelia did not vex him. If she was not his friend's sister, he would stay far away from the infuriating vixen. Unfortunately, they are always thrown together. At parties and family gatherings . . . she is always there. Mocking him, tossing punch in his face, driving him mad . . . until one night, she goes too far and he retaliates in the only way he can: with a kiss that changes everything.

I loved the chemistry and passion between the two characters..the love hate relationship..max is a rouge and wants to never love, marriage or children...he fights this passion that he and auri have throughout the book.. she has always been in love with max but when she was 15 and he was 18 she saw him tupping one of her house maids..and then max came across a drawing that she did of him..friends picked on him and due to the drawing and so the betrayal they both felt that the other did to each other begins... a love hate relationship...this is a good read.

The writing is devine. The characters are passionate, angry and selfish at times. But, through all of that and much more we rout for them

All the Ways to Ruin a Rogue is the second book in the Debutante Files by Sophie Jordan. From the snippets we got of Max and Aurelia together in the first book, I knew I'd love their story, and I really did. They are a prime example of that fine line between love and hate thing. They argue all the time. They are downright mean to each other at times, but I have to say it's pretty fun to read. Even the "event" that sparked all this hatred was pretty darn funny. I finished this book super fast. Aurelia does what she wants to do, and doesn't really care what anyone thinks about it. She's someone I'd love to be friends with. Max is the ladies man. He is all Alpha and knows how to turn on the smolder. Whew! I love the way Sophie Jordan writes Historical Romance. She knows how to tease her readers, that's for sure!

In reading the story of Aurelia and Max, I was able to laugh at the insults they were constantly throwing at each other and MOST of the situations Aurelia managed to get herself into. The reason it's not 5 stars is because some of the things that Max said and did to her weren't funny, but downright hateful. Those things I could not forgive and he never apologized for them or asked her forgiveness. The story line itself was different than what I'm used to as well, I liked that part!

With flawed but attractive characters, this historical romance is the story of Aurelia who has been in love with her brother's friend Max since she was 9 years old - until catching him dallying with the help at age 15 destroyed her tender feelings for him and set them on a course of antagonism and bitter acrimony. Yet, despite how things have played out, the attraction between them can't be denied - an attraction that could be their saving grace or their ultimate downfall. I quite enjoyed this romance and felt that the time period and elegance were well captured in this friends to enemies to lovers story. They both experience difficulties on the path to true love - Aurelia with the disillusionment of learning her hero has feet of clay and Max with his fear of long term commitment leading to the very thing that sets them on the path of acrimony and censure. Despite their flaws, they are both interesting and intriguing characters. Aurelia is a daring and strong woman, willing to speak her mind though she finds herself in the unenviable position of needing to secure a marriage before ending up banished to Scotland. Max is a flirt, a playboy and an everyman's friend, so long as he doesn't have to care too deeply for anyone. The sexual tension between them runs high and leads to some steamy scenes even as neither wants to acknowledge how deep their feelings for each other go. There are the usual misunderstandings, tension and societal pressures of the time period and it all made for a highly enjoyable story. With a sweet happy ending, this one was an entertaining read from start to finish. 4 stars.

I enjoyed this book very much. It was my favorite of the series. Aurelia fell in love with her older brother's friend Max at 9. At 15, he broke her heart when she caught him dallying with a maid in their greenhouse. The rest of the book is their bickering, her searching for a husband and denying their love, even though they can't keep their hands off each other. Max never wants to marry. He has a reason that makes sense to him. But when her brother catches them they have to marry. No plot spoilers for me! Read it to see what happens!

This author is good. I generally find her books interesting & romantic. I could not connect with the heroine. Max the rogue hero is another matter.

Captivating and sizzling All The Ways to Ruin A Rogue is the second book in "The Debutante Files" series. This is another sizzling, passionate, funny and captivating romance by Sophie Jordan. I love the story of two friends become enemies and then can't stop their desires. Lady Aurelia hasn't always hated Max, Viscount Camden, she actually fell in love with him when she was nine years old but after discovering what a rouge he was at the age fifteen she couldn't stop vexing him. Max sees Aurelia as a brat, spoiled and shallow lady who keeps infuriate him all the time. Unfortunately he can't stay far away from her since she is the sister and cousins of his best friends and will be in all the gathering he attend. I enjoyed how they drove each other mad all the times and couldn't stopped themselves. This book was a page turner for me and I loved it. Thank you Sophie Jordan for writing fantastic books.

After I finished reading this book, I had to ask why I’m not reading Historical/Regency Romance novels more often?! Especially the way Sophie Jordan has written Aurelia and Max's romance. I love it when there's a love/hate relationship going on between the main characters. This made for hilarious bickering between these two. And the elegant time period of being in a High Society with their fancy ballroom dances and dinners had me swoon-giddy over Aurelia and Max. I'll definitely be adding more of Sophie Jordan's Historical Romance novels to TBR list. Aurelia is an awesome character. She’s not at all the kind of prim and proper lady for this era. Aurelia also doesn't hold much regard or respect for men, either. No, her father made sure of that with the way he treated her and her mother, and how his death left her and her family in debt. But Aurelia’s faith in men is restored when she meets Maxim Alexander Chandler, the fourth Viscount of Camden. Yes, Max lit the flame of love in Aurelia's heart the moment she met him, her brother's best friend. But as quickly as she believes that Max is worthy of her honor, respect, and love, Max douses cold water over Aurelia's flame for him. To Aurelia, Max is now just another womanizer like the rest of the men in her life. Aurelia vows to never be naïve about love again or men. Her heart becomes incased in ice because of Max's rogue ways and she rebels the only way a woman can in this era: through her drawing. But, Aurelia's cold heart still melts for Max. Max is a man that loves all the ladies, but he also has his reasons for his rogue ways. He, too, has made a vow to himself to never be naïve to falling in love. That loving a woman will destroy the strongest man, just as it did his father. But still, he can't stop himself from wanting to protect Aurelia. Aurelia and Max are hilariously funny. Their vow to hate each other, only sets them up for how deep their love is for each other and how steamy hot the romance will be between them. All the Ways to Ruin a Rogue is a hilarious, full of witty banter, but most of all it's a beautiful romance that will touch your heart. I high recommend as a must read!

The multi-talented Sophie Jordan is in spectacular form for Book Two of The Debutante Files: ALL THE WAYS TO RUIN A ROGUE. Lady Aurelia fell in love with Max, Viscount Camden, when she was 9. The spring she turned 15, she hoped Max would notice the woman she had now become, but when inadvertently she sees him having sex with a house maid, her heart breaks. Unfortunately for Max, Aurelia is also a very talented artist and her retribution for Max ignoring her is drawing a nasty caricature of Max, which is seen all around London and plagues him for years. Max knows who the culprit is but never utters a word because Aurelia is his best friend Will’s sister, and he wants to protect their family. Throughout the years, Aurelia continues to humiliate Max, who is as dissolute as ever, and their tiff nearly reaches the proportions of an all-out war. Aurelia, approaching spinsterhood, still shuns suitors until she must pick someone. Max and Aurelia see each other too much for their own taste, were it not for Aurelia’s behaviour they could have remained civil to each other, as Max never knew what irked Aurelia. ALL THE WAYS TO RUIN A ROGUE is the extremely complex relationship between the reckless, almost ruthless Aurelia, and the unrepentant rogue that is Max. Ms. Jordan goes far beyond the gloss of the ton, and pens an outstanding character study. Character development is exceptional as we follow Max and Aurelia’s growth, trying to fill the void in their lives. Neither Max nor Aurelia are always pleasant; both are headstrong and independent, Max doesn’t care much whom he hurts while having his fun and Aurelia is bent on revenge, but when two unrelated events force them to take a good look at themselves, and how damaging their behaviour is, the story becomes positively riveting. ALL THE WAYS TO RUIN A ROGUE is a tremendously captivating journey; I was completely involved in the story, which is intense, dramatic, and richly detailed. Ms. Jordan’s prose is more sumptuous than ever, and I believe Sophie Jordan has written her best historical novel yet. ALL THE WAYS TO RUIN A ROGUE is an extraordinary book and should not be missed! I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
