An Unfinished Story

Two strangers, one island, and a bustling bed-and-breakfast.

Joanie Wilson has always played it safe, but her fifteen years of loyalty to the newspaper seem like they count for nothing when her boss announces the business's impending sale. And though she doesn't really love her job, she fights to save it by accepting an assignment to Live Like a Local on a remote island off Rhode Island.

Carly Davis, the gregarious innkeeper, feels trapped into running the family's bed-and-breakfast. With a deceased father and a mother with dementia, she is the last hope to carry out the legacy of the inn. When Joanie arrives and offers to help in exchange for rent, she sees a chance to break free from her stagnant life.

As Joanie immerses herself in island life and meets a handsome police officer, she questions if there's more to life than she's been settling for. And as Carly grows closer to her new tenant and her mother's health worsens, she sees a path out of her family obligation and toward the man who got away.

As the summer ends and time is running out, will Joanie and Carly leap into the unknown or will they lose their chance at the lives they always wanted?

If you love island escapes, transformative journeys, slow burn romance, and friendship fiction, you'll love this first book in the Block Island Saga.

About the Author

E.D. Hackett lives with her husband, two children, and three fur babies in Massachusetts. She always enjoyed writing short stories and journaling when she was a child. She majored in Journalism for a hot second in college and eventually graduated with a Master's degree in Speech-language pathology. E.D. Hackett is an SLP by day and a writer by night.

For most of her adult years, her writing was placed on the back burner due to the chaos of full-time parenting and full-time work. With a little encouragement, she decided to write a novel, write it well, and write it scared. Hope Hanna Murphy is her third novel.

She hopes to convey themes that are relatable to all women and hopes they are enjoyed by all readers. She can be found on Facebook, Instagram, and Goodreads, as well as her website www.edhackettauthor.com
