This is a Greek translation of Recollections Gray and Gay. It describes the period of Mr. Horton's services as a US Consul in Greece. It spans 31 years from 1893 to 1924 and describes his representation of the United States in Athens, Smyrna, Thessaloniki, and Budapest. Inside the pages of this book you can read of his love for Hellenism starting with his first view of the Parthenon from onboard his arriving steamer. The Hellenic Electronic Center (HEC) published a second edition of this book in 2007. About the Author

George Horton was born in Fairville, New York on October 11, 1859 and died in 1942. Horton was US Consul General in Greece and the Ottoman Empire from 1883 to 1924. He witnessed the Great Fire in Smyrna in 1922 and he wrote the renowned book, The Blight of Asia. Horton was a member of AHEPA.

He was the author of about 20 books including the best seller Like Another Helen.
