About the Author

Pilar Vélez is a Colombian writer who resides in Miami, Florida. Her works El Expreso del Sol (novel); Soles Manchados (poetry); Pas de deux - Relatos y poemas en escena (anthology, coauthor) Carta a mis sueños para el planeta Tierra and Laura y el mago del cielo / Laura and the Sky Wizard (children’s books), have been awarded with the International Latino Book Awards. She is also the author of the bilingual (English-Spanish) short stories: A Gift for Laura / Un regalo para Laura, A Christmas Story Collection / Una historia de Navidad and Fallen From The Sky / Caído del cielo. She is the recipient of several awards and recognitions for her work promoting culture and environmental awareness.
