British Anthropologist Thomas A. Joyce was among the first to write about the daily lives and religious practices of pre-Spanish Mexican and Mayan civilizations. He led annual expeditions into the lush jungles of the Yucatan, to help discover and document Mexican and Mayan sites between the Tropic of Cancer and the northern strip of British Honduras, now Belize.
