If you want to change your teaching style to become a better educator to your students, then you need to read this book! Ms. Meldrum’s strategies and advice will allow you to see that there are many new and innovative ways to assess your students. The thing is, it makes learning more meaningful to the student and provides far more ways to legitimately gain important and richer evidence of student learning. I have tried several of these methods and can say that they work. I was pleasantly surprised how much easier it was for me to assess my students, for example, it was a lot more fun for them to demonstrate their knowledge to me using Screencastify, instead of using a boring worksheet or a written test. Her explanation of how the apps and Google extensions really helped me with this gathering of information and made it quite simple to understand. It is a great book and one that should be on top of every educators list of books to read in 2016. I have recommended this book to many of my colleagues.

I really enjoyed reading this book and I think that it is a critical resource for educators (new and experienced) who want to learn how to change and develop their teaching style to become a more effective teacher using technology, one who can better communicate and provide feedback to their pupils and prepare them for the future in academics and adult lives. It provides clear and explanative samples of assessment strategies and ways to guide the students in their learning. It also provides suggestions of technology, programs and apps to use in the classroom, which assist in giving the teacher and student more evidence of what they have learned and where they are in their comprehension of a subject. Ms. Meldrum explains how teachers can apply these ideas to meet the needs of all types of students in a classroom. I have tried many of these techniques with technology in my multi-lingual classroom and have to say that the changes in my practices have given my students much more confidence, a voice in their learning and a greater sense of enthusiasm and pride. You will be pleasantly surprised at how much valuable information you will gather from using the author's techniques to assess your students using technology as a tool for and as assessment. I highly recommend this book to any teacher who wants to make more connections with with their students and make their classroom an exciting place to learn!!
