Bear Meets Girl (Pride Stories Series #7) by Shelly Laurenston

"Quirky characters, madcap antics, snappy dialogue, charged love scenes. . ." —Publishers Weekly

He's big, burly, and way smarter than your average shapeshifting bear. He's also about to get trapped by own his game. . .

Lou Crushek is a reasonable, mellow, easygoing kind of guy. But once someone starts killing the scumbags he works so hard to bust, that really gets under his fur. Especially when that someone is a curvy she-tiger with a skill set that's turning Crush's lone-bear world upside down—and bringing his passion out of hibernation. . .

As a member of an elite feline protection unit, Marcella Malone has no problem body-dropping anyone who hunts her kind. But Crush is proving one major pain in her gorgeous tail. The only reason she's joined forces with him is to track down the wealthy human who's got her entire species in his ruthless sights. It sure isn't because Crush's stubborn and contrary attitude is rubbing Cella in all the right ways. . .

I just got the book today and im so happy! This is first time for me reading one of Shelly Laurenston's books, i gotta say im enjoying it! I like how in the book, it takes place mostly in New York City where there are humans but also animal shifters mingling together. Surprise, i expected there be clans of different animal shifters like most stories written, but there are purebreeds and even mixed breeds working closely together in the big apple. Lou "Crush" Crushek is a were-polarbear, who enjoys spending time alone, hates changes, and has a bad temper. Then his world changes one night as the "undercover cop" finds himself in bed naked with the beautiful she-tiger, Cella Melone after being drunk from eating some jello shots spiked with alcohol (lol) xD. Im liking it so far, and i can't seem to put the book down. Im hoping Lou would loosen up and warm up to Cella and other people and not be so uptight all the time, although Cella says at the beginning of Chapter One that she couldn't help but playfully swat at the uptight were-bear. Which i thought was cute too! Who wouldn't? XD I like how this book has plenty of humor, is not so serious, and you can really feel close to the characters, what seams to fit my type of reading . I find that a book that is too dramatic and serious is a big turn-off for me. I recommend this if you are into books that contains not only sexy shape-shifters, but also has plenty of action, and humor! :3

I read possibly too many shifter books, and having said that, it's known there are some that aren't very good. This book however is wonderful! It was hard to put down, the charactors were well done, the story jumped to other charactors at odd times but not in an obnoxious way. 300 pages of great plot & lovable charactors. Totally worth getting and taking a couple days to read & not so many sex scenes that I cannot share with my Aunt

Once again Shelly does it. I totally love this series. The characters are great, the writing is fantastic and as usual there were parts that I had to read over because I was laughing so hard. I can't wait for the next one. I'm in love with all of her characters.

I love this entire series. I have read them over and over, and everytime I laugh in the same spots. The character's are true to life, but that is subjective, but I can so relate. I have fallen in love with certain characters..Novikov, Blayne, Dee Ann, Cella, Crush, Mitch (Love love Mitch), Van Holtz's (most of them). I think I like it because it is so true to life forreal. Also, I enjoyed the Magnus series as well. I don't think you can go wrong with Shelly (under that pen name - her writing style changed - evolved). Maybe she found her voice..I don't know. If you have not read her before, Magnus and Pride are both wonderful literary expressions (in my opinion). I laugh, I shake my head, and re-read it and do it all over again. I didn't mention Lock, but I like him too. Gwenie said his head was giant like a kumquat (sp). If you want a funny, entertaining read that will enable you to enter into another world for a minute...this is your author.

I have to admit, when I bought this book, I did it on my old black & white Nook, and never saw the cover. If I had, I probably would have passed, and I would have been wrong. Yes, it is a para-normal romance in a flood of paranormal-romances, but the story is actually one of the most compelling, and dare I say it, realistic, that I've read in a long time. The novel is full of actually funny situations, and in the context of the background universe, very logical scenarios and actions that draw you in instead of lingering on the already moldering stereotypes dominating at this time. Yer, there are sex scenes, but even if you're not a fan of those, the rest of the book makes it worth it. Buy this.

Wow I liked this book a lot! I am a big paranormal shifter fan and one of this author's biggest groupies. All her shifter books are well written and very funny. This book centers around the romance of a cop named "Crush" and a feline paramilitary sniper/hockey player named "Celia aka Bare Knuckles Malone". The cast of characters from previous books in this series almost all make an appearance and there's a lot of humorous banter between characters, criminals, mystery, family dynamics, and a good love story.

I am use to Shelly Laurenston giving me comedy and romance in a nice balance, but lately I have been disappointed with her novels! They have so much story that the romance has gone out. I am not saying I want a sex scene every other chapter, but there were maybe two times the main characters even got heated. I just want a better balance!

I have been selecting this authors books, reading the summaries and then moving on to something else for months now. The covers just dont look interesting. (I know, i know, dont judge a book by the cover). When this book was offered for $2.99, i decided to take a chance. Best choice ever. Its 3am and i need to be up in 3 hours and i didnt want to put it down. Kept telling myself, "just one more chapter". This is the good stuff, people, buy this book. I plan on buying the rest of the series immediately. Great character developement, engaging story. This can be read as a stand alone book, although im sure it would be even better to read the series in order. A few sex scenes but well placed and not so many that you lose sight of the plot. Would give more than five stars if i could. Hope this review helps -Jennifer Keller

BMG just didn't ring my bell or make make laugh out loud (just a few chuckles this time) as often as I did in the Magnus/Pride series. Crush was...boring. Cella acted more like a she would rather be her daughter's age than an adult with a daughter. For me, Cella and Crush didn't really click for the romance to be believable and even what little romance there was didn't get going until later in the story...that is, after the initial pages offering the reader a taste of something delicious...and they were aprt a lot of the time. The hockey theme was intriguing at first, but soon became overpowering when the real storyline (shapeshifter murders) should've been most important. On the other hand, this is a writer's work. I can live with that. Still hoping the next Laurenston book is better and includes the usual humorous hell, making me want to read all of her works--although her stories contain a cast of thousands and are difficult to keep up with each character.

Shelly laurenston has outdone herself with this one. I love the mix of shifters and drama and fights mixed with a couple who don't realize they are falling until it's to late. This is a must read!

Absolutely hilarious! Cella and Crush's inevitable romance is everything you could wish for... if you're into the whole 'take forever despite themselves' romance category! Cella needs a pretend boyfriend to stave off the matchmaking of her gaggle of aunts and she decides Crush, a polar shifter she met at a recent party, fits the bill. Of course Crush isn't too enthusiastic about the idea but eventually goes along. It also helps that our cute lil' polar is a total hockey nut, and Cella's dad used to be the number one shifter hockey player there ever was! As for the aforementioned side plots, they're really there to help the whole overarching story arc along. Not really needed as I'd read just to find out what past couples are up to anyway as they're there! Especially Blayne! Helping Cella's lil' 'pretend' romance right along.
