I bought this book because I wanted to learn about beer and food pairing for a potential job promotion that involved creating beer dinners. The first four chapters were extremely useful involving photos, example menus, and explanations of why certain flavors pair well or don't. The entire rest of the book was essentially a list of beers, breweries, and stories the author personally enjoyed, but that had nothing to do with learning how to pair food with beer. Most of it was the author just talking about beers he liked and why they tasted good. He also provides resources for further research, which is nice. However, if you are into craft beer on even a moderate level, you'd be familiar with all of them already. On a side note, the fact that he basically sourced what he deemed the best examples of beer styles from about four breweries seemed kind of weird. You would think someone touting them self as an expert in beer and food pairing would provide a better scope of examples. And you know...more information on how to pair. Criticism aside, the book provides enough information about pairings in the beggining to warrant 3 stars. A good book for begginers, but not really for anyone already well versed in craft beer.

Don't buy this book, from B&N!!! I saw this book at a friends place and found it be a great book. As a member, I bought this for my brother in law for Christmas about 3 1/2 weeks before. The site said it would ship within 24 hours later. The book arrived after the new year, missing Chistmas completely! I got no help from B&N customer service nor even an apology for the delay. I decided that since I had liked the book so much away my friends house, I decided to order one myself with a gift certificate I had received for Christmas. This time around, I was notified in my confirmation email that it would be shipped out on January 22. I had waited all day for the email letting me it has shipped. No word that day. Then the following day I received the email that it was delayed with no shop date. As mentioned before, DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK FROM B&N!!! Great book, horrible horrible service from B&N. I'm considering canceling my membership, as it means absolutely nothing to them. Want to stay in business, offer superb customer service and bend over backwards for your loyal customers and members!
