About the Author

Iqbal Khan, Consultant Gastroenterologist and Associate Director of Undergraduate Education, Northampton General Hospital, Northampton, UK

Dr Iqbal Khan was born in Birmingham and qualified in medicine from the University of Sheffield in 1997. He had previously completed a dual honours degree in Biochemistry and Physiology and managed to intercalate research for a PhD (awarded in 1995) into the medical course. After completing studies, he trained as a junior doctor in the West Midlands and was appointed as a consultant gastroenterologist at Northampton General Hospital in June 2007. Because of his roles devoted to medical training is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer for the Universities of Leicester and Oxford.
